a goodbye + community-led forums available
hi all,
i wanted to use this post as an opportunity to say quickly goodbye and make once last announcement for the remainder of the community that's here before the forums go.
it's been a long ride and i'll definitely miss this crazy place. I've only been here since 2022, but I've been a lurker since the beginning on the forums prior to me making my account. I've seen the evolution of the community almost from start to finish, including all the times that peanits and almo used to be here. it's insane how quick time flies. i didn't always agree to everything that was said and had a few weigh-ins on some hot topics, but it was still a blast making friends and talking to others about the game and all the fine details that came with it. there was a beauty in logging in and seeing someone's passion project of an opening post about their perspective on game balance, lore, or the latest topic in recent discussions. honestly it's amazing watching someone's thoughts come out when given the space to stretch their legs. even though it triggered some, frankly, wild debates, i have no doubt that all of it was influential and allowed players of dbd to put their heart into such an old game. I've met many amazing people, especially towards the end of the forums, and i don't regret one bit of it.
with this being said, as the internet gradually transitions away from forum-based culture, some people here may find it hard to part with this platform. this is especially if someone is not capable of using reddit or discord to keep in touch with community members. to solve the potential problems of losing touch with others and falling out of the loop, i decided to sit down and host a community-led alternative to these forums. i highly encourage you join if you're still looking to have long-form discussions about the game or the latest news that comes out.
sign-ups are currently open. the forums are also helped by fellow long-time community members for moderation and site improvements, so as the site grows, we can make it accessible and friendly for all. i am always open to feedback and working to improve the platform, so you're free to also make suggestions.
as my last parting piece, i wanted to quickly say thank you to all my friends and wonderful acquaintances that I've made here:
@cogsturning, @THE_Crazy_Hyena, @Nazzzak, @HeroLives, @GentlemanFridge, @Pulsar, @Arcturus, @sizzlingmario4, idiealot (sorry i forgot your username, i remember your discord way more for some reason xD), @Enigma, @HoodedWildKard, @NeverSolus, @Shroompy, @Mooks, @FerrousFacade, @For_The_People, @GannTM, @GoodBoyKaru, @MechWarrior3, @SoGo, @TurboTOne, @UnicornMedal, @100PercentBPMain, @hermitkermit, @CountOfTheFog, @OnryosTapeRentals, @PetTheDoggo, @Slurp_Ramen, @Spare_Them_Mori_Me, @UndeddJester, @vol4r, @Xray, @zonkednb, @GeneralV, @radiantHero23, and many, many more

Thankfully we do have the Discord, so we will not lose contact with the friends we have made once the Forum shuts down.
At the very, very least, we have that.

Glad we have the backup to go to after these forums get nuked by uncaring facken ######### who don't give a shite about the community.

It is a real shame BHVR has fallen so much they can't even keep a simple forum open. BHVR's "alternatives" are no true replacement for the forum here. As such I am going to miss all the discussions on here with this forums wonderful people.
I deeply appreciate the efforts of those who are trying and save this community, as well as archiving the old forums so we do not lose what we have all created here.
I guess it is time to say a final farewell. It has been a good run. Thank you everyone for the good reads and discussions here. May you all take care out there in the fog.

I'm definitely going to miss this forum. I frequent a few DBD subreddits too but there's a completely different vibe over there. Different subreddits tend to skew either killer- or survivor-sided, or be filled with memes or people arguing in bad faith, so it's difficult to talk properly over there. While there were still some biases on both sides from time to time, on this forum it was still far easier to have open-minded discussions or bring up complaints without immediately being met with a dozen "lol skill issue" responses.
Reddit, Discord and other social medias are terrible replacements for this forum, so I'm sad to see it go.

To think how easily this place could be upkept, what a true shame.
It's really going to be a nice memory that in spite of all the clawing at each other's throats we'd be done, in the end we mostly just spent our time left reminiscing and having small chats while waiting for them to put up the chairs and turn off the lights.
Happy Halloween everyone, and Goodbye.

Hey, thanks bud.
Posting on the forum in November feels like using a Ouija board.
I was only here for a short while, but it was fun, and I'm glad to have made some DBD friends I can chill with. A shame I can't play that much lately.I won't be joining the official Discord. Never been on an official Discord that wasn't a spam/slopfest and impossible to engage with meaningfully. Glad to have kept contact with a bunch of you, though ♥

I was only active for a short period, but I'm glad in that time I was able to make it on that list lol, I'm going to miss the chaos of this community.

You made enough of an impression that it feels like you've been around for a good long while.

it’s been nice chatting with you all over the years. I’m going to miss you all that don’t join servers. With that being said , I’m on the official discord, @THE_Crazy_Hyena discord, and on @Skittlesthehusky discord too. So everyone should join those so we can stay friends, and I don’t have to remember you guys in fits of dementia in my 80s. Thank you.

why was this post suddenly moved to off-topic? this was perfectly fine in general discussion. :/ @Balrog
3 -
Maybe it means they changed their minds and the forums are staying?
4 -
Don´t think so.
… but would be nice.

This post should stay in General Discussions @Balrog
If BHVR does not care to preserve a spot for its community, at least let people who do care about it get exposure so that the community can stay as intact as possible, even if it is a fan forum.
Sabotaging this is really not a good move.

(Yes, I am sure most everyone knows what I typed there, but for those that might not, it's a text-based salute emoji.)1 -
Could this Thread be moved to General Discussions again for visibility please? It is an attempt to get as much of the community as possible together into a fan-made Forum. And for that, the best exposure would be needed, which would be in General Discussions.
And it is not really taking away any people from the Discord or other Socials, since those who dont like Discord will not join the Discord anyway. But it would be another way for people to hang around a Forum, who know each other from the official Forums.
