You're supposed to get downed! Duh.
In the new ranking system, you get punished if you are too good. Same deal with the killer side of things. Killers can depip if they win a game with 5 generators remaining..
4 -
You're supposed to actually win the chase instead of looping indefinitely.
4 -
If you want to pip then you need to lose the killer.
5 -
you have to lose the killer to pip now or get downed.
1 -
If you fail (By failing to lose the Killer) you depip. That simple.
2 -
Everyone has pretty much summed it up.
Getting chased for 5 gens and abusing the hell out of loops is not how the game is supposed to work.
You're supposed to lose the killer and let him pick a new target and run some gens, get unhooks.
The killer would have de-pipped on that game too for sure.

Doesn't matter anyway; pips randomly reset all the time at the moment.
Also if someone has carried the team of survivors by being tunneled and not going down the entire game, they should at the very least ALMOST pip. (And certainly safety)

You are supposed to lose the killer, not loop him.
2 -
Cause its so easy to win a chase as survivor if you play against a halfway reasnable killer? hahaha. Also its his fault that the killer is so determinded to chase only him for 5 gens? you dont understand a thing.
4 -
It's not on the killer to purposefully lose the chase just because the survivor can't win it.
0 -
Its not the Survivors Choice if the Killer goes on a 5 Gen Chase.
4 -
No, but if the survivor was good at winning the chase, they'd have won it.
1 -
what if the killer keeps chasing tho? never leaves for another survivor or the gens that are being done?
this place seem super hostile, i'd like to clear out this is an actual question to help me do better as a survivor, i'm not here to fight you.
4 -
@MegsAreEvil should it be easy? You have to think, break LOS and use strategy otherwise you won’t lose the killer.
1 -
"Just lose the killer" 4Head.
2 -
No #########. It was a joke.
2 -
@TreemanXD: There nos strategy to lose someone who is halfway reasonable. Survs can only lose the killer if hes to dumb for chases.
4 -
@MegsAreEvil Thats just not true, it is entirely possible to lose a killer who is "halfway reasonable" or more. It may be hard but its possible, use the surroundings to your advantage to gain distance etc. for you to say that survs can only lose the killer if they're dumb, then you must be pretty bad 🤷♂️.
But, as several people have pointed out already, to "win" a chase per say, you have to lose the killer (which is possible no matter their skill level or intelligence). Chasing a killer round loops etc. for 5 gens means you haven't done that, and therefore you haven't earned your pip. Simple.
This is a stupid post to begin with though, as the killer wouldn't have gained a pip either and any killer who isnt "dumb" would know that chasing one survivor the whole match is a bad idea, so it should be possible to lose this killer, even by @MegsAreEvil 's logic.
2 -
Exactly!!! All it takes is thought and strategy. I’ve seen youtubers also lose the killer (Tru3 and Monto) to be more specific and their killers have been decent or even good.

"winning* a chase 😂😂😂 killer depips as well so it's still a victory in my book. People saying this are just salty because they can't catch good players. If you ain't playing for pips then just loop them till 5 gens are done and a gate is open.
1 -
It's possible to lose any killer in any situation sure, but how about the times where attempts at breaking the chase in hiding don't work, but the killer is still making enough mistakes where the survivor doesn't go down the whole match? There is no guaranteed fool proof way for a survivor to lose any killer in any situation, so in that case, yes there should be something done.
Which goes to an overall arcing issue I think there is in the game, where your points are only locked into categories, rather than just having an overall 32k point limit from all 4 sources, both killer and survivor. If you're good enough to keep a chase going for 5 gens, you should deserve more than 8k points plus 5k for escaping. Just like killer, if you're so good that you end all chases within 10 seconds, you will get no where near your max chase points, but might get plenty of deviousness points in a match and cap.

@TreemanXD Well I'm a survivor main that plays to escape. The most efficient way to escape is have someone run the killers for 5 gens. Rank and pipping is irrelevant till there is a reason to aim for it.
Winning a chase is not getting caught.
2 -
I find it VERY hard to believe that the killer chased you for all five gens straight without you deliberately trying to get his attention and not wanting to lose him, which is how you should play.
Way too many Ochido videos can do that to a survivor main I guess

Besides, please consider that if the killer chased you for the entire match, your teammates most likely safety pipped/depipped as well.
The way I see it, the game should reward, ranking wise, Survivors who actually play the game in more than one way. This isn't a MOBA where each player is assigned a role. The tag "Runner" doesn't show up to anyone in the loading screen. I definitely don't think someone who escapes should depip, but if the killer doesn't down you for 5 gens, they're probably bad, and you didn't do anything out of the ordinary by running from them, so you shouldn't pip either.

I'm fairly certain the game was never designed to have you do this in the first place, so they probably don't want to reward it. Pallets and windows were meant to make distance so you can have time to hide, but players found a way to use them differently.
But if you do try this and can never escape the killer (hence why I find the doctor annoying) and they continue to track you then your only options are to either let them down you or just deal with the depip.

Could it be....that your not meant too just be chased the entire round and should maybe...try and lose the killer?
0 -
That's you. The people who matter consider winning the chase to be actually winning the chase, as opposed to delaying a loss.
0 -
@Orion that is your opinion and that is fine but when a killer cannot catch me and chases me till I run out the exit gate that is a bad killer. Or am I supposed to run to the gens with him chasing me and apply pressure for him?
The only time the killer community will be happy is when I throw myself on the hook in this scenario. I see escaping as a win. If the killer doesn't give up that is not my problem.
0 -
It's not my opinion, it's the devs' opinion. Y'know, the people who make the game, define win conditions, and are the only ones whose opinion matters when it comes to pips and whatnot.
0 -
Not at all, the survivors objective is to survive. It's not to lose the killer, it's not to loop him, it's not even to save other survivors. It's to survive. Full stop.
If I can loop the killer for 5 gens and trot my butt out the exit gates I should pip because I did my objective. I survived.
Just like if the killer can kill everyone with five gens left they should pip because they did their objective. "Showmanship" which is what I like to call all these things the devs are adding.
"Kill everyone under 5 gens in 9 mins"
"Walk out the gate saving everyone, cleansing every totem, doing 2.5 gens, and twerking real slow out the exit gates."
It's stupid. Who the heck is watching? You could debate the "Entity" wants to be entertained but at the end of the day the game isn't competitive. At all. There's a "ranking" system that doesn't require skill, it requires you to no life the game or SWF to climb it quickly.
If they want to correct unwanted behavior they need to make the corrections actual game mechanics instead of trying to bandaid it with perks or making ranking harder if you don't hop your butt through some hoops and almost ######### by trying to save some survivor from a camper just so you get enough points to safety pip and therefore feed the camper more points that they do not deserve.
2 -
Killer was bad enough to chase someone to a point whereas all pallets are gone. You already did good. Just take ds next time and you re free.
0 -
@orion Well I am sorry for enjoying the game like this. Like I said, it's the same for camping with people losing pips and not being able to get involved. Plenty of killers are smart enough to catch me or drop a chase if they can't. Not my fault if they can't do either and the Devs made the game this way so they can't have a major issue with it or they would remove it.
0 -
You get it! If survivors are leaving that is a win for them. Why does everything have to be about points with people?
0 -
Give us this link of the dev opinion. While you're at it find the list of win conditions on this game because last I checked this game has no win conditions for killer or survivor that are clearly outlined anywhere.
1 -
I was unclear. I meant win conditions for specific portions of the game. Specifically (for this context), chases.
You can enjoy it however you like, nobody's saying otherwise. We're just saying that delaying your loss is not the same as a win in the devs' eyes.
