Make event skins obtainable only during the actual event

...and not later through the store with auric cells. Because what's the point of the event in the first place?

It would be like a poor man's legacy, shows that I've played the game during the event and actually grinded to get it. Also making it a bit harder to get would be neat.

Talking about skins from the lunar events and hallowed blight etc...

it's fine that they are in the store but for me events should be like:

    *event introduces 5 cosmetics*:

-4 should be obtainable for free during the event and bought after it ends

-1 should be exclusive for those who played

they still get a lot of money and you can a have a cool exclusive shirt like the feng min one for the community goal

By locking cosmetics behind some timed convenience you're only upsetting people. What if you couldn't play during that time? You still want the rewards, and if you couldn't earn them you can still acquire them which makes you happy, and the extra income makes the devs happy so they can keep supporting the game we all love. It's a winning situation for everyone involved. The logic that drives people to be unique with rewards shouldn't exist in a free equal society. If you want to be different, just wear unpopular color combinations. Each character has recolors you can get for cheap and no one ever uses them.

Or they can make money. You know like companies are supposed to. But you feeling special is more important than continued support, dedicated servers, community managers, etc.

I even understand where the OP is coming from. Having something exclusive that not many people own or can get anymore feels nice. If I had golden Feng Min, I'd be rocking that all day. It would be cool if they introduced a Battle Pass system like in Fortnite. The pass can cost like 5 or 10 bucks and unlock's challenges similar to the daily rewards to help you rank up faster. The rewards would be various cosmetics and maybe some new content like music. Then after the Season ends those rewards won't be available anymore. Maybe the rewards could even be bloody clothing on different outfits. Everyone wants that!

Peoe who complete the event should get something extra.

Whether it be a slight colour change to the cosmetic or it gives one extra cosmetic I think there should be some sort of reward.

I liked the event exclusive cosmetics, for example I didn’t play when David and The Huntress got their lunar cosmetics, but I want them.

It shows when people played before me, and I’m totally cool with that

    in other words, yes

I don't really get why so many people are against this... When you went through the pain to unlock community specific challenge items and your own bar counter that during the "different" playstyle of the events which can be hard fought for why shouldn't they remain exclusive, I didn't get the billy summer BBQ weapon, that was a choice, but I got both Huntress hound and King's Donkey jacket through effort as well as the new lunar min and ace. They're a reward for a reason, what's the point playing the sometimes questionable event if you can just buy it later... As some have stated above if they do put them up in store it would be nice to have a slight variation for those who earned it in game during the events...

Edit: Also to those who say you "don't have time" I literally grinded through all the above only on weeknights/weekend nights and the events near ALWAYS get extended anyway, devs give people time to do the events, it's not unreasonable for a casual gamer...

I could care less that they are in the store, in terms of "now pay money". During the even you can get them for free. If one missed the event and really likes the outfits, they can get them for cash.

I disagree with this strongly and love the fact that event skins can be purchased outside of events. I hated this form of exclusivity in overwatch and felt like it only punished/disincentivized new players from joining a game only to find out there's a bunch of great stuff they have absolute no chance of getting.

Please continue to keep doing what you're doing on this issue bhvr.

I worked hard during those events to get those cosmetics. And most games make event cosmetics exclusive. The only reason DBD hasn't, is because they, for the longest time, didn't have many cosmetics to choose from. Now that that isn't the case I think it's a good time to start making event things exclusive.

You're random insults shows you have a pathetic life. Wallowing in other peoples misery to distract you from your own.

Then they'll lose money bud. Not everyone has the time to play this game all day everyday. They actually have a life.

I guess when its only possible to grind out a percentage of the cosmetics, such as hallowed blight, then I'd be in favour of the being in the store, but in the case of one offs or collections that are grindable, then why shouldn't they be exclusives for players of the time.

Although choice lies with Dev team, and why shouldnt they see some dollar for investment!

    That sounds narcissistic.

I understand the point the op tries to make, it would give the skin some sort of an exclusivity and prestige. On the other hand real life stuff can always hinder you to participate and enthusiastic players who join the game at a later point still should have the opportunity to purchase an amazing skin for the survivors and killers they love to represent and play as.

I always believe that giving more options is better than restricting them.

Maybe BHVR can implement a little seal that symbolise that you aquire the skin during the event, like the special borders in LoL?

I come from Overwatch, where exclusivity is king and Blizzard preys on its consumers because of it. I will never forget (nor forgive) how they used the Mercy charity skin to price point paywall skins.

Look, I understand why you might want a special cosmetic for yourself - but it’s really REALLY not worth the predatory and abusive business/consumer relationship this would foster.

For the life of me I don’t understand why some of you are asking bhvr to screw you and your wallet over.

Some people can find themselves short on time. If they do want a cosmetic, they don’t have the issue of having to wait year round. Not only does that system foster a mentality of “I have to grind this game to get that exclusive skin” but it deprives other consumers with less time of having the ability to get said cosmetic. I’d rather be able to get them year-round than one a year. Not only would that be a waste of a skin, but who really wants to wait for such?

Well, first of all, it brings in money, which is good. Second, it gives the opportunity to get those Skins. Lets imagine the Hallowed Blight Skins, you were able to obtain 2 of them for free. So, lets say you enjoy playing Dwight and Huntress, so you get those two. Event is over.

A few months later, you really start to enjoy playing Wraith - but you cannot get this Skin anymore. Now you can simply pay 10 Euros and have it.

Same goes for Events where you can only get as many Skins as you can get via playing, like Moonrise. Maybe you were maining Meg the whole time, but then later you see that Feng is great too. But nah, you cannot get the Moonrise Skin, because it was not interesting for you at this point.

I am quite happy that I can spend money on this game when I dont have time or interest in playing. But I can get OPs point.

While it doesn't bother me that much and I really dont care one way or the other as most ones I have I never use.

It was something to earn in the game with a set time to do it so it pushed me to play a lot more since I just wanted them and there was a sense of urgency on my part.

I myself don't bother with events as much after the store implementation and dont feel I am being pushed with that same urgency to play anymore, unless they give a decent amount of extra bloodpoints as that lure always gets me I just do enough of it to get what I want our of it and then stop doing the event goals.

The last one was a classic example, the BP gain was quite pitiful and the players farming me off the hook ruined so many games so I never bothered with it after I got the one skin I wanted as it want enjoyable to play, where as before I would keep playing to help the other survivors or killers depending on the role I was playing.

i liked the idea of the events items being exclusive but it just doesnt make much sense to do it like that. they make a lot of money off their cosmetic store im sure.

I get what you're saying, but I am completely fine with these cosmetics being in the store since they are full cosmetics that they put a lot of work into.

I would like something for finishing the event though, even if it's just a recolour like Kate's summer bbq shirt. It gives you a reason to actually play the event.
