Who should i play to prevent gen rushing?
I currently play huntress, but lately i feel as if her hatchets are easily dodgeable, and by the time my first chase is won, 2 gens are done. i always run ruin too, but you know how hex perks work. What are your mains and how do you prevent gen rushing?

You really can't stop gen rush if survivors are good not much you can do even with ruin. Nurse,Billy but again won't stop good players if they wanna do gens.
7 -
My main is Wraith, but unless you got some movement speed Add-ons on, he's not awesome at managing Generators.
You'll wanna go for Killers who can make them scared of you just being present.
So a Hillbilly is usually a good choice.
@sorrowen is right though: Even the best players of the best Killers can sometimes just feel immense pressure themselves rather than applying it on the Survivors, cause they're just that good/coordinated.

Anyone not top tier and not running Ruin has an uphill battle. For anyone not Billy or Nurse, try to Mori the first survivor possible.
1 -
Again Hilly and Nurse are probably the only two, at base, that can deal with Gens competently. And then it really depends on the Survivors and how well you can maintain pressure.
1 -
You can't. Survivors are in complete control unless they suck.
10 -
Yeah it's pretty much up to the devs to change that. Having the ability to run a speed perk would help. Or two offerings like starting survivors separated and a Mori would be nice...
1 -
Legion or pig.
1 -
You can't really, but as huntress you can work around it better than others killers once you master your hatchets to get long range throws.

You can't do anything about it. Best advice I could give is to use an ebony mori when you see 4 survivors join at the same time or dodge. ""Good"" SWF teams have the advantage at least 3:1 compared to the killer. They hold the power role.

You can mitigate to a degree, but you can't stop it if that's what survivors decide to do. I mostly play Spirit and Freddy.
Basic rules that go for any killer:
- Leave your ego at the loading screen. The survivor that jumps out at you right off the bat and clicks their flashlight wants you to chase them. They'll have MoM, Adrenaline, and maybe an insta-heal. Let them follow you around trying to get your attention. They'll unhook as soon as you look like you're going to leave the hook. They'll always have Borrowed Time. Hook them last to mitigate MoM.
- You want to stop the gen rush? You can't do that if you're eating pallet after pallet on the opposite side of the map from where all the gens are. Stay mindful of the situation and don't be afraid to give up on an unfavorable chase to pressure gens.
- Semi-related to point number 1, and maybe specific to SWF. The designated runners will have flashlights or medkits. They're the strongest in chases and will typically have you eating pallets for 3 gens. Prioritize the survivors with toolboxes. They're usually the gen jockeys and drop like flies in a chase.
- Slug more. Slugs are a great way to get momentum back. A hooked survivor occupies a minimum of 2 survivors at a time (the hooked person and the rescuer). A slug plus a chase occupies a minimum of 3 (the slug, the rescuer, and the new chase). This also plays into the no healing meta. When you waste survivors' time, they tend to rush and forgo healing. You can end up with 2 or 3 injured survivors on gens and quickly snowball it.

Nurse and Billy are the only killers that are viable at high ranks without ruin. If survivors wanna get gens done fast and know how to do it, there's really nothing you can do about it but play as well as you can. You cant be everywhere at once and being outnumbered 4 to 1 means some gens are gonna go.

This. Focus the weaker targets. As soon as someone deliberately gets my attention and starts baiting me, I ignore that person 1000% and only go for them last/when they mess up trying to get you to chase them and overstep.

Corruption, Ruin and Discordance would help
1 -
Wanna do Gens is like saying the Killer wants to kill. Its the only thing they can do.
How to prevent getting genrushed? Get better in chases and know where and when a chase makes sense.
Ruin helps aswell, but a good killer wont need it tbh.

Play Nurse

some of the character's like nurse and billy are good because of high mobility they can pressure people off of the gens but also if you're just really proficient with a character you'll be able to put them away easily. I play plague

Ruin, and pray to god the RNG places it in a well hidden location so it can do its job.
Spoiler warning: Most of the the time it won't.
2 -
Slugging into another down into a hook is a great way to halt momentum of survivours. Its not always worth it to pick up and hook if you know a survivour isnt far from where you downed them.
I highly recomend watching zubatlel his playstyle tends to massively slow down games. Even as trapper the man keeps a decent number of gens up.
1 -
Ruin is not going to save you, keep that in mind.
And if you are gonna chase that guy for 1+ minute better stop the chase and patroll generators.
1 -
Its strange that you say good killers dont need ruin when its run by almost everyone at high ranks. Do i smell a survivor creeping into my killer discussion ;o BLASPHEMY!!
1 -
You need to predict where survivors are going to dodge as Huntress. Not a jab at you in anyway, but a good Huntress is hard to dodge.
And 2 gens, 1 down is pretty normal. Just gotta get a quick down afterwards to keep up momentum. As Huntress, you should be able to do so.

It honestly doesn't matter much who you play as. The rush will happen if you cannot apply enough pressure.
0 -
@DBD_Pinhead You actually don't want survivors to split. Up as that let's them do 3 gens while you chase 1 person.
0 -
They already do that now and the game codes for partial separation of survivors in spawn anyway.
0 -
Apply pressure its up to you how. BBQ meta with strong addons or smart slugging thats all i know. Try to hook two survivors really close to each other and camp(cross hook) and if you also achieve it with them being close to three gens then congrats you win. I recommend Billy he s the kind of slugging!
I think huntress is also good for that as she can be lethal in close .

If you want to slow down generator repairs the only killers that come to mind are Doctor, Legion, and Freddy, also Pig but she's not getting a whole lot of love from BHVR right now so maybe don't play her.
The Doctor can force survivors to "Snap Out of It", Legion can make multiple survivors need to "Mend" which keeps them off of generators, (with Thanataphobia it's decent.) Freddy slows down all actions while they are in the dream world and forces regression to wake up. Lastly, the Pig forces survivors to stop repairs and search for boxes which may or may not give them the trap key on the first box.
The best build I had to stop gen-rushing was Surveillance, Thanatophobia, Sloppy Butcher, and something else on Legion as Killer Instinct and Feral Frenzy help keep Thanatophobia active.

Doctor is decent if you manage to get a 3 gen defense, Ive crushed SWFs with that strategy but its map dependant.
1 -
Deranking
2 -
That is true as well. It usually depends because even when you show up in their midst depending on the killer, they'll scatter like roaches. My logic is the faster you thin their numbers, the easier it is to pressure the rest.

Hooking two people or downing one while having someone hooked is the best medicine for gen rushing. After that just go back and forth.
1 -
Best way to prevent genrushing is...
...to play survivor and become IMMERSED!
1 -
Thats right. They d be too busy gen rushing being far from each other and if you hook two survivors close its already win. Insta down killers are great for that strat

Coincidentally I play Myers lol.
1 -
I've ground games to a halt by letting them 3 gen themselves and then just patrolling the gens and refusing bad loops. Survivors will get really frustrated by that if you deny them gens and chase. The worst part is they can still easily do the gens if they would not focus one gen so hard.

Nurse, Hag or Billy can combat it ridiculously well. Hag and Billy with their insane pressure and Nurse is just Nurse.
Spirit can combat it too, not as well as the others but definitely a good counter.

Legion and Doctor

And here at BHVR, that's what we call Balanced :D

Simple. Nurse.

Spirit with Prayer Beads and Discordance/Ruin

Protect your Ruin for as long as you possibly can, try to Mori someone if you have one, and making sure Discordance is running is extremely nice to slow the game down a bit. What sucks is that not all Killers are made equal, and the ones that can move across the map quickly will always be better at this than others.
1 -
Let me play two games in a row and i will bypass ruin easily in next games i advice you to not use that trash perk.

Play nurse

Nurse, every other killer is garbage.

I like Hag, running Hex: ruin and NOED. The hex can slow things down at the start, the traps make it easier to mark gens and slow them up. If they do rush gens and don't clear the totems, then NOED comes into play and gives you a chance to down survivors in the rush for the exit. I've had games where they've rushed the gens, only to be downed in the exit while repeatedly teabagging, not realising NOED was running and they hadn't cleansed any totems. Quite satisfying.

For starters there is no such thing as gen rushing, it's the only objective they need to complete for the chance to survive. Same as with killer the only objective is to hook survivors to complete tye entitys sacrificial ceremony so to speak. Totems, chests and the like are secondary to their goal, just as kicking gens is secondary as killer. While these things have purpose it doesn't change your primary objective. I know it sucks having gens popping everywhere but it just means you have to be super aggressive and try to outplay them as best you can. I do this by running perks that speed up the things I have to do to catch them and lessen time spent on transporting them to hook. Enduring and brutal strength to kill their loops, agitation to spend less time getting them to a hook. Then straight back to hunting, no pause, just pressuring them to keep moving.
1 -
Freddy can be good at slowing down the 1~2 gen if you can find enough people to sleep, but regardless he is great at slowing down the last 2 gens.
1 -
I wouldn't run Ruin and NOED because as soon as they know Ruin is in play unless you're on the swamp level, more than likely all the totems get cleaned before NOED comes to play, leaving you with only 2 perks vs. 16 potential.

When i said gen rushing, im talking about the community accepted term of it. Most people see gen rushing as the survivors just doing gens and not doing anything else. The question in laymans terms was asking "im climbing in ranks and i want to slow gens down because high rank survivors do them quickly, any tips?"
