Thoughts for an Ideal new Ranking System

So im just gonna throw some things out there that id like to see in a new ranking system.


Anti Camp Tool- In the current emblem system you lose points for camping if the survivors are not within an area of the hook i like this keep it.

Gen Rushing- Survivors just pushing out gens as fast as possible without being chased by the killer doing totems getting unhooks will not pip they will safety as someone who plays both sides i can confirm in most situations this actually happens with the emblem system currently it happens a lot more.

Emblems- I like the idea of showing what a killer and survivor could improve on but i almost feel like these emblems are just not that accurate and have to many flaws with them but i would like the idea of showing what someone could improve on

Anti Derank- Before someone bites my head off i actually like this idea to limit how low someone can derank to and attempting to stop dcers once dc bans come out i feel it will help alot added on to this


Now what i think you guys could look to improve with a new system


More rank diversity- Allowing green through red to actually play together while keeping yellow through gray together.


Ranking shouldn't be harder- We are seeing the results of ranking being hard no one wants to rank up to red ranks at the end of the day this game will never be competitive and it shouldnt the game is just not designed for it i agree there should be a way to keep newer players and players with an understanding of the game split. The more people at higher ranks good and bad is honestly better people were not complaining before because they were not getting the tryhards as much and now they are and people are complaining again.


Rank Rewards- Ranked should have a reason to rank up to be motivated to rank up maybe some type of reward


Triple Pips- Now i know in the Alpha this was a thing but im going to explain why i think this could actually end up being a good thing if a killer or survivor just outclasses the other completely that means that survivor is likely at the wrong ranks or that killer is likely at the wrong ranks forcing either side to rank up faster could lead to more people at higher ranks which goes back to Rank Diversity and it does actually help get more people towards higher ranks which starts evening out just playing against the same people over and over it would.


Monthly Resets- Get rid of them this is part of your issue at the moment thats also why people dont want to rank up as is no point just to get reset every 13th this game is not a esports stop with the "ranked ladder reset" idea trust me get rid of it. Make actual seasons an example is remember your road map how you had 3 month intervals before new content i actually like the idea of 3 month intervals or something similar to derank people give them a fresh start and than they can begin the rank backup.


These are things i honestly think if you want a ranking system people actually like you need to explore these methods not everyone of them has to be in it but it would be good to atleast test them all together and see if the team likes the end result just my thoughts thank you to all for taking the time to read my post <3

    Nice summary, I don't mind that the ranking up is harder if like you said the monthly resets disappear, but the expectation you need to do 150% in every match needs to go, especially as a survivor, killers needing to protect all gens for a certain period of time at match start is also questionable given some killers need match start to set up e.g. trapper setting an area, hag traps, mikey stalking etc. I'd keep red with purple and up to rank 9 to increase the player pool (staggered respectively e.g. a rank 1 gets a higher tier 1-5 survivor, a rank 2 killer gets 2-6 etc), rank 9-12 feels like a bracket of it's own and 14-20 should be lowest.

    I used to think I hated ranking up so fast to rank 1 as a survivor but now I actually miss those intense games that made me better as a survivor by going against some mixed bag rank 1 killers, rank reset + harder ranking means I hover around rank 8 as I don't play that often and have to slog through ranks 14 back to purple each time now which is littered with survivors who don't know what they're doing half the time or DC/suicide on hooks (let's not get started on that one again). Get rid of the reset monthly and make it 2 months and that might solve some things...doesn't solve entirely for people who take breaks though, a derank via time rank 20 killer who is returning after a break may be rusty but not fresh rank 20 survivor rusty and vice versa.

    I 100% agree with your post the issue i have at the moment with ranking being hard is its missing the reward of it you know what i mean having a harder ranking system with no reward is why red rank lobbies right now are pretty bad but i do agree with you though if there was a reward id be cool with ranking being hardish

    @Hexyl Definitely but we need all of those things together, longer seasons, incentives and feeling like pipping is earned/justified not luck/farmed etc.

    I had some similar conclusions on the ranking system. I do agree that emblems aren't accurate but how to remedy them is the biggest trick.

    @SpaceCoconut Actually something interesting is in the recent survey the devs brought up the ability to check your stats that could be a good way to show what you need to improve on depending on what all of the stats are and what all it collects just a theory though but we could maybe somehow tie that into a new emblem system who knows

    I was interested in that section also.

    I was imagining it to be a page of maybe lifetime hooks sacs and escapes. Something simple.

    They need to change the Gatekeeper emblem for killer. For some killers keeping not a gen popped for I think 9 mins is a ridiculous request. I think most killer emblems need a severe rework with the new pipping system.

    Also yeah, rank reset either needs to go or not happen every month. Maybe every 3 months? I think that's be fair, as well as rank rewards (#make ranking and devotion levels mean something 2k19).

    I think it could also help if they increased the BP cap in categories, or made an "overflow" thing where points that you'd normally miss out on in a maxed category instead gets diverted to one you're lacking in (though probably not counting towards pipping? or maybe only if you get a lot of overflow?), maybe the survival category as that one is almost impossible to max anyway.
