Every killer needs their own rank

@not_Queen @Patricia @Peanits @Shelby The rank system is excellent for the survivors, but seriously inadequate for the killers: the great experience gained with Myers is not useful when you try the Pig, the mastery of Billy's handling does not give you any skill with the Nurse, and so on. A unique rank, common to all killers, destroys the variability of the game, preventing the player from experiencing a new character in fair trials: for example, a main Spirit at rank 1 would be destined to be devastated by hundreds of teams as soon as they wanted to test the Doctor or the Plague for the first time... The consequence is forcing the player to settle for one or two killers, or to face unfairly frustrating games, which in turn "dope" the rank system, as they result in free victories and not deserved pipping for the survivors.

Each killer must therefore have their own rank, starting from rank 20 (or a reasonably higher rank, if the player is already very strong with a killer), and the times of the season reset must be different for main and secondary killers, for example:

1) killer used in more than 50% of games: monthly reset;

2) killers used in 10-50% of games: bi-monthly reset;

3) killers used in less than 10% of games: quarterly reset.

I humbly beg the developers to modify the system with the utmost urgency, because I personally experience this sense of "imprisonment" with Myers, and I assure you that having to play that killer, despite having unlocked them all, is definitely unpleasant. People of the Fog, join me, subscribe this petition, for a better game experience and a bigger fun for all! :D

    I don't know, I play Myers mostly but can freehand switch between hag, freddy, trapper, doctor, wraith, legion and pig pretty fluidly, I've only once had the problem where I tried playing at rank 8 as a terrible huntress that was an experience. However, I learned all of these on the old system though when season reset actually meant something. I would try new killers on resets so I could play rank 10-13 matches as them etc. With this new ranking system though, your suggestion is good, but again, rank means nothing now, you'll just get deranked tryhards at rank 20 post reset now bc they don't see the point in pipping or ranks so until ranking is fixed it's a big ????

    @Entità I have agree with @Kiskashi at this point in time.

    Now, I've been an advocate of each killer having a separate rank for about a year. But at the same time, unless Behavior suddenly devotes resources into creating a ranking and matchmaking system that makes sense and doesn't feel like it was created by a first-year game design student, there's little point.

    @Peanits @not_Queen Please consider this. The ranks are already frustrating.

    I would actually kinda like this. You'd know they actually earned that rank with that killer and not just spamming nurse.

    @Kiskashi @Kilmeran The rank system measures a player's skill, and each killer requires a different approach, style and talent, so they should be represented by their own rank, specific to that killer. Who deranks on purpose could do it yesterday, he can do it today and he will be able to do it tomorrow: just play badly, make the attacks wrong, go to the wrong generators or pretend to have lost the prey during a chase. However, one cannot balance the game around dishonest. I trust the developers, they have improved the rank system to make it more selective and genuinely representative of the players' skills and I am sure they will be able to implement this change optimally. We need it to be free to try new killers, to fully enjoy all gaming opportunities.

    As I see it you have 2 choices:

    1- Git gud with all of them

    2-Ignore the ranking system and just have fun ;-)

    @RoKrueger To have fun with a killer never used before at high ranks? Is it funny to be condemned to a permanent defeat because the system considers you good at playing all the killers when you only master one of them? Really?

    @Entità Unfortunately, that's where you and I differ. I've played a lot of games with ranked modes. Up until a year ago, I played them aggressively. Three years into DbD's life span as a live game, and I honestly have zero trust in the developers when it comes to making a rank system.

    The rank system is too easily abused, and has been since the beginning. It needs a complete scraping and redesign from the ground up. Unless resources are invested to one day make that happen, it will continue to be a poor system. Even the new system doesn't properly gauge a player's skill. It attempts to pigeonhole you into a certain play style. It has most of the same issues as the Overwatch ranked system that Blizzard designed, and is yet another one I will not participate in nor consider seriously.

    Indeed. After a while you have a pretty good grasp of the killer mecanics like listen for survivors, mindgames, when to do or do not a lunge attack, etc

    It would not be fair to match you with new survivors, don't you think?

    Always remember: You can't win them all and have fun

    @RoKrueger I don't have any chance to get a fair trial if I stop playing Myers and try the Hag, the Wraith, the Nurse... Killers are not skins: there are some common mechanics, but also unique powers and add-ons, which require experience. Your point is that a good basketball player can play well volleyball, just because they know professional sport and they use their hands in both of them... really? It's a nonsense.

    The ability to use a killer you don't already play(or a new one) and not get punished while you try to master their ability is appealing.

    A better analogy would be "A good rugby player won't have many problems playing american football" or "A tennis player won't struggle so much at paddle"... but I am not a sport person myself ;-) let's go with "After playing 20 matches with one character of Overwatch, you won't have too much trouble with another character, your basic skills won't reset"

    There's no reason not to have this other than the fact it'll cost BHVR time/money to implement -- therefore we will not see it

    I think individual ranks would go a long way in determining which killers need improvements. Seeing where a majority of killers stall without the boost of switching between better options. We all know killers fall into a tier and this would help pinpoint when they are hitting a rank wall on a more accurate scale.
