Suggested this before but i'll suggest it again. let killers fake breaking a pallet
Like with the gen breaking animation, give it a cancelable progress bar so we can exit mid animation
This would be a huge buff to the mind games that killers can preform, and while not useful in many situations, could become beneficial in others.
Would add more diversity to the actions killers can preform

Canceling pallet action would be a waste of time. It’s not like the survivor is going to jump back over. I don’t see any use out of this.

I think this could get some use on unsafe pallets! They let you cancel gen breaking which I have never got any use out of (because I tend to not do it in a chase) so faking a pallet break should be relatively easy to implement.

EW3 Myers: Pretends to hit Pallet so Survivor runs instead of looping it.
Survivor: Sees instead of him breaking a pallet, Myers is speeding right after her when there is nothing to save them.

Math time:
A pallet takes a little under three seconds to break fully. Let's just round it to three just for simplicity's sake.
A survivor moves at 4m/s.
In the three seconds it would take to break the pallet, they could move a total of 12m.
Naturally, if you're going to fake it, you wouldn't break it fully. Let's say you stop at 2 seconds (if you go any more, you might as well just break it).
In 2 seconds, they can run 8m away. That's not very far, that's half a tile.
It would be neat, but in practice it wouldn't have a huge effect. Even if the survivor starts running away the instant you start breaking the pallet, they'll still be close enough to turn around and run back to the pallet before you can go around it (assuming it's a safe pallet). You might be able to mindgame newer survivors, but anyone with a bit of experience is going to be able to take advantage of that and force you to break it. If you don't, they'd be able to run back and vault the pallet again.

Its a neat idea, can add just slight bit more mindgame potential but in practice probably wont work so well against higher ranks or anyone with experience.

Also true. and there are quite a few unsafe pallets with not much around them mind you. Hell even some safe ones would become unsafe if their hidden around corners, out of sight of the survivor
I still think it would be a nice change haha, not one you'll use all the time, but one that can be useful some of the time, to help survivors pressure even more

You're making the assumption that survivors have full view of every pallet. You only need to feign a break till they start running and at that point, you can collapse in on them from out of view.
A lot of people are saying that they'll just adapt and stop leaving till the pallet fully breaks. Now let's fully follow through on that line of logic. Survivor, doesn't leave till pallet fully breaks > killer breaks pallet > survivor is screwed for not leaving till pallet fully breaks. Trust me, this adaption doesn't negate any mind game potential; it only drastically increases it.

@Iceman A lot of survivors will run away from the safe pallet if they see you breaking it, but stay if they don't. It would essentially be doing something to make them run away from safety without taking up too much time.

Why not? Add some variety to the mindgames!
Only thing I see Survivors whining about is that they can't get flashlight blinds at pallets because the Killer wouldn't be animation locked.

To be honest that wouldn't be so much of a problem Imo, as you'd just adapt to blind at safe pallets, and also there could be a point where you become animation locked, ie perhaps before the first or second strike on the pallet.

I wouldn't hate it if they made this change, but honestly I don't think it's needed. Every now and again the killer would accidentally screw themselves over by letting go of the button too early. The vast majority of the time it would be a mistake for a killer to fake break a pallet.

Even if the eventuality of it being useful is rare, I don't see a reason to not have it. It could spice things up just a little bit.

Once the killer goes into pallet break motion, the survivors know they have time to run to the next pallet. By adding in some form of bluff, you give the killer an option to trick the survivor and possibly cut them off before the pallet looping chase continues.
I must have missed all the pallets used in Scream, Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Chainsaw Massacre, Saw and every other horror movie out there. Probably cut those chases in editing.

To be honest that's a fair point actually, a gen kick has far less mind gaming potential then a pallet (whether safe, unsafe or hidden from view) and yet we can cancel kicking a gen. I'm quite curious as to the case as to why we can do so I mean it's useful I suppose but again I'm curious on the methodology behind it

I prefer to break pallets and get them out of they way. I’m all for devs adding this feature but I most likely wouldn’t use it.

It's not so much about faking it as it is cancelling it when you realize there's a survivor hiding next to it. That way you can let go, hit them, then kick the generator before going back to the chase. You wouldn't really be able to mindgame a generator since they're irrelevant to a chase.

True true, thats a fair point, though it doesn't come into use that often, i've seen my share of nea's tryna pull a sneaky hiding behind a gen.
That being said while we have a difference in opinion i still think it would be a nice feature to be able to mind game at pallets :) Sure its only a few seconds saved in some cases, but it could be beneficial at view obstructed/unsafe pallets.
To add onto this actually, i wouldn't mind also being able to "fake vaulting, or at least, the initial second before stepping over, though i have a lot of doubt that would be useful, i mean it works in spirits case because you don't know what stage of the animation shes in, but for other killers not so much. could spice up the killers shack though? (this change im not asking for and am willing to actually say is borderline useless, especially for the work to be put into it, ie having a certain point where a vault becomes committed to, making it work with different killers ie legion and myers and perks etc etc)

Guess it's got a use, but we're talking about the same devs that changed tinkerer because it was too much coding for each killer. So lazy coders abound.

Would only work well on nurse or huntress. Make them drop the pallet, fake break the pallet, the survivor runs and insta blink or throw a hatchet for ez downs.
Every other killer would still have to go around giving the survivor enough time to move to the next looping spot or turn back to the pallet.
