Endgame Killers Delaying The Kills
I love endgame! It was a great concept especially being killer or survivor the hatch standoffs got annoying. My issue is at this point the killers are purposely not killing the last survivor in order to see the kill. At first it was ok, but now its just annoying. Is there some way this can be changed somehow?

Yeah every game that I’ve been in that got down to one survivor that has happened the killer finds the hatch because it’s not that hard they just chase them around not hitting them and if they go to do a gate they’ll just grab them or they’ll slug you and just sit there untill you die

Just alt-tab out. Find something else to do because you know your game will be stuck for the next 4 minutes.
Get some work done, read some news, watch some youtube etc.
For myself, if I know the game is over but being dragged out unnecessarily, I'll just afk and get crows, or face the wall as killer and alt tab out. Then the other person becomes the one wasting their own time.

It's probably going to be this way for about a week or so
A lot of Killers didn't either have a chance to tested out on the ptb or were on console so they couldn't do it.
So because of all this you're going to see a couple of people wanting to see the mechanic honestly after about a week the hype of it is going to wear off.
Especially considering regular hooking gives you a lot more blood points during the endgame phase then letting The Entity do it

Hopefully it stops happening soon once almost everyone has seen it because I don't want to see threads about killers nodding their heads watching people die in egc and calling this toxic.
1 -
Which it did but when it’s down to one survivor it’s VERY unbalanced
7 -
Its not fair if the killers are drawing out the game just to see the end. It is balanced in the fact that I don't have to deal with hour long hatch standoffs. What isn't fair is wasting everyones time. But I can agree to disagree with you.
7 -
Let the killer have their fun. Next time escape if you don't like it
7 -
Don’t we always have to hear if people play a game with their friends “swf” their toxic like every day? Lmao
4 -
But but.......
2 -
That’s the point though lol there’s literally 0 chance and no you don’t deserve anything and what about if people dc you still “deserve it” lol
6 -
What if they run NOED and Blood Warden just to leave everyone on the ground for the entity? People do it to be jerks and ruin the game by doing so. You enjoy being on the ground doing absolutely nothing?
8 -
This is not a question of "deserve" it is a question of did EGC do what it set out to do? In my opinion, it is a strained yes. Yes it's prevented hour long hatch standoffs and survivors holding the game hostage. However it hasn't done that as it was intended. It's only thrown the power onto the killers. As if to say, "Here's the chance for revenge." I agree that a majority is probably people that just want to see the animation, but they've still left that room for inane boasting and spastic head nods while all you want to do is move on to the next game. I can't really complain due to the fact that the development team are trying to come up with patches and ideas to help fix a game with a whole litany of issues and glitches while also coming out with new content to keep it fresh and people wanting to play, old fans and new, but I also can't help but wonder what flaws actually can be fixed by new mechanics and perks, and which ones are doomed to stay because they have nothing to do with the game mechanics and everything to do with the attitude and outlook of the people that play. I will continue this investigation off the record. Detective Tapp signing off.

Its 2 minutes or max 4! Go and make coffee, by the time youre back it will be over.
Or in the future, hide near an exit gate and wait for the killer to close the hatch then open the exit straight away - i have done this a few times successfully. Adapt/change strategy
4 -
A lot of people are also missing the point like I literally don’t care if I die that’s fine you got me lol but the fact that now it feels like your being chased and not hit or just slugged and being taunted and there’s literally nothing you can do when you just want the game to end
3 -
I disagree that the new end game is good, it allows a scenario where at the end of the game when the hatch spawns either you or the survivor find the hatch first, this is inherently not the bad part. HOWEVER, what is bad is the scenario where the killer finds it first.
At that point you better pray those gates didn't spawn next to each other, and if they did like in one of my games with a ledge overlooking both you're just done for.
Now how may I ask is that fair?
7 -
Thats just the game hough. That happened before endgame. Its just the luck of the draw.
4 -
@FireHazard It is just random and that is the way it is. Sometimes it works in your favour and sometimes not. Its unhealthy to expect that everything should always be "fair" because that is just not reality.
2 -
In a game this should be a reality, but I guess there will always be a dominant factor in anything. Having a balance on either side will induce people to actually use skill to win rather than busted mechanics.
3 -
Unknown* factor/factor of randomness ;)

If this is honestly and truly annoying all the survivors, I can garuntee you that the killers would have absolutely 0 problem with significantly shortening the timer for end game collapse so you don't have to wait so long. If that concept isn't appealling to you, then it's really not that annoying.
4 -
I find it funny how the killer mains think this kind of ######### is perfectly acceptable. But bitched about hatch stand offs. Which is not to say a change wasn't needed. It was. But be consistent ffs.
10 -
A very simple and easy fix would be this
If there is only 1 survivor, and they go down, both gates are closed, and hatch is closed. Entity should just take that survivor right there.
Game over, new game. We all win. Well, not the survivor, there dead.
But you get what I mean.
4 -
@SmokePotion Agreed.

The collapse is 2 minutes, I think 2:30 if you're slugged, it's not long. But if it's really a problem then they should take out the Cypress Mori and make it base so that way the Killer can Mori the Survivor instead of waiting 2 minutes to get a different kill animation.
2 -
Simple solution: greatly reduce the timer.
How about 30 seconds after the gate has been opened? To short?
1minute ?
1 -
Kinda ironic how survivors have been known to take the game hostage for upwards to 30-60 minutes, sometimes even longer, and now when they're put in a "hostage situation" for only 4 minutes max.. they whine and complain.
The double standard is disgusting.

Git gud

Survivor getting instant free hatch win, "thats acceptable"
Killer closing the hatch still making it possible for the to escape "not cool".
Pre2.7.0: wasting time at open gates and hatchstandoff for hours is fine and balanced. Post2.7.0 4min for my failure is too long"
Dear survivors annoyed by killers enjoying a game mechanic thats been implemented FOR YOU, AND BECAUSE OF YOU, just be happy that the devs didnt make the hatch an I-win-button for killers too.
Honestly, if EGC triggers with morr than 1 sirvivor alive, thats on them
3 -
So many threads in so few days complaining about waiting 3 minutes max. I wish we would have had so many survivor players standing up for killers in the last years and asking for a change in the game mechanic when games were taken hostage by some survivors for 30+ minutes.
Anway, this current thing probably won't be an issue in the long run. Killers most likely only want to see the new killing animation.

So to sum it up:
2 -
Lol are you okay?
0 -
I’m perfectly fine lol I can have an argument without demanding things I think I “deserve” and telling people to cry about something when they voice an opinion. you on the other hand... lol

I disagree here. The EGC right now can have almost no impact for a survivor when they complete the gens, because i already had like 5 games (didn't play much this week), where most of them what they did was 99% the gates and then when i'm close complete them and put themselves in the gate to teabag and escape afterwards. If the gates had a penalty for intentionally stopping (not saying when a killer hits you or a doc shocks you and things like that) like reducing the progress X percent, this would not be an issue. I agree that in this situation where the survivors already made their objectives they've won and all that, but if the EGC activated after the gens have been completed you actually give the survivors the urge to GTFO quickly or get caught. Hell, even if one gets caught the timer gets doubled because of the slowdown. The only thing that would need some adjustments would be perks like for example Blood warden. But right now i can't figure out myself how i would balance that.

This is David Tapp going on record with an update of my investigation. Suspects seem to have a complete misunderstanding of the point of contention in the original comment. Their hostility is taking over, lobbing insults at each other, trying to shut down other points of view instead of having civil discussions about the subject matter. I should go on record saying I agree with the original comment on this subject to a certain extent as saying that it has fixed the problem of hour long standoffs with nothing getting done, but it has also caused some annoyance with certain murderers "playing with their food" as it were. Instead of recognizing this fact, certain suspects in this case repeat cult mantras of "git gud" and "deal with it, scrub." When they do break this pattern, they throw wild ideas based on notions of self righteous indignation like, "shortening time limit to 30 seconds." My investigation has ground to halt due to this circular logic and dodging of the subject matter at play. It seems as though my gut instinct was correct. The motive in this case is indeed due to a craving for some sick twisted vengeance, pure sadism, and a disturbed sense of curiosity to a certain extent. I will give further updates as new evidence and breakthroughs come. The Game continues. Detective Tapp signing off.

Yuhg
Interesting take. Thank you for a thoughtful counterpoint that you have politely provided. I will take your testimony into consideration.

I understand that frustration. It does suck. I have seen hatch standoffs last for over an hour which is ridiculous. Now, having said that, I saw someone else posted that after the "shiny toy" wears off it should happen less often. It is/was just slightly frustrating when it happens every single game. We will see what happens as time progresses.

Right now its just deal with it its not holding the game hostage so its not reportable so either come back like a week or two later so people have seen it

Stop crying. It’s less than two minutes and you’re only goin on the hook anyway 😂 - the animations are fantastic.
0 -
If it’s down to one survivor it means you have lost as a team 🙄 4v1 - the killer deserves it.

- just because in the past there were similar situations doesn't make this one less bullshit
- your claim that this behaviour will stop in the future is pure conjecture
- even if we assume that it becomes signifcantly less common there is no benefit to enabling this kind of situation
- it's a problem right now so it's good to discuss it now

The Devs made a mini game in DBD... the EGC actually stands for End Game Challenge.
It is an in game challenge for killers to leave one survivor left and to close the hatch with both doors still closed.
Thanks for the mini game BHVR... LOVE IT!
