MOM IS BULLSHIT vs wraith
I love playing as wraith he is probably my favorite killer But Metal of men and adrenaline completely wreck him and Manny swf groups have these perks.
How many more people need to buy ash before you've received enough money that you are okay with nerfing the perk? @Peanits
We aren't stupid we know you made Metal of man overpowered so more people would buy ash @not_Queef

Yeah, I've given up on playing most m1 killers just because of mettle. I suggest you do the same unless you want to facecamp every game there is an obsession.
9 -
And Legion, Pig, Spirit, Nurse, Clown.... Etc etc... They need to fix it but we will probably wait for a few years just like we did with D-strike and hatch stand off.
4 -
Surprise attacks shouldnt count towards mom
9 -
The reward is too high.
Killer basically gets punished for hitting survivors ?
Just make it so you have to work for it to get it, like 3 safe unhooks or something as someone already suggested in a different thread.
Or at least make it fair against all killers. Doesn't make sense that already bad killers like Wraith get even worse while better ones like Billy or Huntress aren't even affected.

Why not? What about the attack is not basic?
0 -
It's an attempt to even the scales a little bit
1 -
Adapt and git gud
4 -
GitGud.
5 -
But again, what about the attack isn't basic? I'm not trying to argue either way with regards to MoM, but I want there to be consistency in the logic behind it.

The surprise part of the attack isn't basic. if the power registers as a surprise attack, it shouldn't count. In fact, i was under the impression this is how it should be, to be in line with spirit and Hag in this regards.
I've never seen a MoM proc against my hag. Since 90% of my hits are phantasm attacks.
Edit:
Also, make your choice counters MoM, by removing one of the procing hits.
2 -
Technically it is a basic attack. However this could be modified. Surprise attacks carried several modifiers with them the first being increased bonus points 1400 blood points if I recall correctly.
Surprise attacks can also inflict blindness and hemorrhaging which basic attacks cannot do without perks.
In that sense to even the scales, we could classify surprise attacks as non Basic attacks because of how they can be heavily modified.

But the attack part of the attack is basic, no? I could be mistaken (if I am, someone please correct me), but I don't believe Spirit attacking from out of her Killer power or Hag attacking out of a teleport prevents MoM from getting a stack. I know they recently fixed Nurse attacks out of blinks to properly give MoM stacks.
I am not necessarily opposed to finding some way to modify certain Killer powers such as Wraith in a way that attacking following the use of that power would not technically count as a basic attack (such as the blindness or hemorrhage idea). The question then would be to what extent it should be done.

I wonder what can the devs do to change the perk without making it completely dead.
I liked the DS change. Maybe this could have the same change where if the killer keeps hooking the same one person and no one else, it activates. I don't know lol

The inverse is also true. X happens and the survivors get punished for Y seconds.
So not sure what you're point is.
1 -
.... 4,5 months it took to update Legion.

lol entitled survivor main over here. You the type of survivor to get downed in 10 seconds without crutch perks.
9 -
lol entitled killer main over here. You the type of killer to cant get downed someone in an entire game without crutch perks.
Fixed for you.
2 -
Adapt vs MoM = Facecamping or Memento Mori or playing Billy
Its your choice

Idk I my stbfl likes mom. I just treat it as if he healed.
0 -
Yup. It's complete BS. I'm not sure who thought it was a good idea to punish killers for outplaying their opponent, but they probably shouldn't be developing games. It feels awful when you perfectly predict the survivor's route as Spirit and the survivor gets rewarded with a free hit. It's especially bad when this happens multiple times in a match, then all the gens get done and the survivors get instantly healed with Adrenaline. What skillful interaction did the survivors perform for those rewards? Selecting the right perks at the menu screen? It's braindead and bad design.
6 -
Ah, your toxic is the reason why every match i see nurse and hillbilly
10 -
When I mained Wraith I had no problem with it. As a legion main I still have no problem with it.
Run stbfl and adapt.

Hey, whats the difference between getting punched during a fight, and getting punched while you're having a chat with friends.
Thats the difference between a basic attack and a surprise attack.
Mettle: a person's ability to cope well with difficulties or to face a demanding situation in a spirited and resilient way.
You can't face the hit in a resilient way if you're unaware of the hit until its too late.

@drunky26 Killer gets punished for losing the survivor 3 times. Hitting the survivor just builds pips towards the reward for escaping to mend. Just hit them twice, don't let them escape, hook them and don't let them get rescued.
1 -
stbfl counters it?
0 -
@meme it does lessen the effect.
1 -
might just be me but mom doesn’t effect me much I expect it and just accept it doesn’t stop my 3-4ks
2 -
I main Wraith and I disagree with OP.
From my experience, I have found that while the perk is strong, survivors sometimes just don't even get to use it. Or they use it early on, and I don't have to worry about it at endgame, which is when I would worry about it especially with Wraith (as I think his endgame sucks).
The perk is effective on survivor side, but I think as others have said you just adapt.
2 -
Do you guys realise why they implemented MoM its because this days killers tunnels and camp without any reason and MoM its not just too problematic its not powerful or weak i dont have any problems against ppl that have MoM
1 -
Hitting a survivor three times at any point during a trial is not "tunneling". As for "camping", it's the only surefire counter to MoM in the first place, so clearly you're wrong.
6 -
Rancor counter MoM noed counter it also theres alot of counter also you have billy than counters it so theres not only 1 counter so im not wrong maybe you need to look perks that can counter MoM
1 -
None of those perks counter MoM unless you've never hit the survivor twice before. Hillbilly counters MoM if you can hit the chainsaw every single time - good survivors, however, can avoid the chainsaw.
EDIT: Oh, and I never said "camping" was the only counter, I said it was the only surefire counter. Meaning, a counter without any "ifs".
6 -
Basically what u r saying is that survivors already have the upper hand without that perk and can escape easy, but still let's introduce that perk just in case so survivors can escape even when they messed up.
Thanks for confirming that survivors have the upper hand and that perk shouldn't be introduced.
2 -
Well if it was made for tunneling, then we can make it so you lose any progress made on MoM once the Killer hits someone else. (MoM being active (which is after 3 hits) ignores this new rule.)

i would make it so you only get the stacks if the killer is carring a survivor that way it rewards the survivor for making risky plays instead of punishing the killer for playing the game

Everyone talking about Rancor and STBFL countering it is forgetting or being willfully ignorant for the sake of argument that multiple survivors can run the perk in a trial without the killer being able to tell. Pulling off pallet or window grabs is not a reasonable counter against good survivors. A lot of us don't play against potatoes who slow vault in our faces. The problem with DS was never about just one survivor having it in a trial. It's the same with MoM. The problem is that there is no mechanism to prevent a killer from dealing with multiple free hits coupled with Adrenaline. That's an automatic loss most of the time from the menu screen.

Make it a purple or red addon to negate the effects of power attacks on killers whos powers lead to a basic attack?

MoM is so stupid, reward survivors for doing bad at the game how f@#$ing stupid. (Coming from a guy who plays both sides equally)

Maybe they can water it down by having it so that Non-obsessions that use it give the killer a 30% successful attack cooldown reduction when it procs... To reduce the distance between them... It would also strengthen the synergy with DS b/c that makes you the obsession... So it would force the killer to not tunnel, or else he's dealing with a full power MoM during late game. =)
This would make it so that having a 4-man all using MoM wouldn't overly hurt M1 killers who aren't tunneling like Wraith who probably use STBFL, but at the same time not affect high ranks that much b/c it would still be useful against Nurse and sometimes Hillbilly.

I think that's the best place to start. MoM has some counterplay when only the obsession has it. Take away the speed burst on hit or take away the weapon wipe if they're not the obsession.

Honestly I think the easiest way to push Mettle of Man in the right direction is to make it only gain tokens if you take hits while the Killer has someone on their shoulder. It would promote a more Altruistic playstyle, and could result in more synergy with his perks since the only way to not give stacks would be to drop the Survivor. Enter Buckle Up so that you can tell how much they've recovered during your chase if you lose the killer. If the killer downs you, assuming the first person hasn't been picked up they might go for them, allowing you to recover for Flip Flop.
I'd also be in favor of giving Non-Obsessions a weaker version as well, perhaps increasing the number of tokens or not getting a free sprint burst?
Either way, with the perk the way it is now it's pointless to play anyone that doesn't have a dedicated M2 attack.
