A Killer’s idea for Hatch situations...
From what I’ve seen, there’s been a lot of debates on what is and isn’t fair with the release of BHVR’s newest and, presumably one of the best, patches yet, The Endgame Collapse. And from what I’ve, there’s been a lot of issues with how the solo-hatch mechanic works, in the sense that, whenever the hatch closes...The final survivor has no hope to escape. They have to rely on RNG to save them by having the exit gates spawn far apart from one another, but if they aren’t, or if you’re against Billy, Nurse, or Spirit, then you’re practically dead. So how does one solve this dilemma? Simple.
The Endgame forces Survivors and Killers to make difficult choices, but the choice is always clear for Killers: Close the hatch. So how do you solve it? Get rid of their ability. Once the final Survivor is gifted the choice of finishing gens or looking for hatch, the Killer will always look for hatch, in which the Survivors either have to pray they’re quick enough to get to it before them or pray to God they don’t come straight to the exit gate once the hatch closes, so...Once the hatch closes, get rid of the Killer’s ability. ‘But Chaotic! Then the Killer’s won’t close the hatch and they’ll give up a free win!!’ Not entirely. There’s always suppose to be a balance in a change, for both sides, at least, in my opinion.
If the Killer doesn’t want to close the hatch and risk losing their power for the remainder of the trial, then bring this back: Hatch grabs. This will ultimately end hatch stands off for good, and here’s why. If the Killer and the Survivor are both at the hatch, the Survivor can either risk jumping in and getting caught, or risk having it closed and dealing with Endgame and an M1 Killer that could easily deny them from opening an exit, while the Killer’s have two difficult choices as well: Close the hatch and risk losing your power and dealing with an Adrenaline+Wake Up combo (which is rare, considering Wake Up still needs a good buff, but it’s possible) or dealing with finding a Survivor before they find hatch in favor of keeping their ability to get an easier kill without needing to worry so much if the Survivors get too close, just to yank them before they hop in.
Any thoughts on these changes? Feedback and responses would be nice on the thought of this concept, but anything is worthwhile to hear about for the devs to use! 😄

No
Disabling the killer power makes the Nurse autolose and makes it impossible to add another killer with similar movespeed to the game, because they also autolose
Adding hatch grabs back doesn't solve anything and there will still hatch standoffs

@Madjura The Killer losing abilities could hurt Nurse, yes, but thinking about one Killer over other’s shouldn’t be a viewpoint, the only exception would be Freddy in having to think about, though his rework could change that
You can close the hatch if the Survivor decides to stick around it, cancelling the stand off and getting a free M1 hit while having to deal with Endgame can still easy guarantee you a Sacrifice.

The hatch situation is already solved by the ability to close the hatch.

So you mean like how until recently killers had to play the RNG game with the last survivor and the hatch or how unless we were playing Billy/Nurse (and even then...) we had no hope of getting that kill?
Its been such a short time and yet here we go, a problem killers have been forced to deal with received a change (only because SURVIVORS were holding games hostage) and already people are flooding the forums with complaints.

@Orion Yeah, it’s solved, but the issue is that it just causes too many issues for Survivors than there is good. The problem I’m worried about is that, with how things go, if something isn’t done about the hatch situation relating towards it giving Survivors a free deathwish is the fact that most changes that could help Survivors generally end up hurting Killers, hence why I wanted to give an idea that could help both sides before something drastic comes. :P

It should cause issues for survivors to be caught in a 1v1. I don't see what the problem is.

@Orion I guess the major problem I’m seeing is that something could come along like ‘Getting rid of Endgame’ being something that could happen.

What about a 30 secs time to close the hatch?

This hurts more than the nurse. Hag, Billy, Legion, Spirit, Huntress, Leatherface, Wraith, Freddy(He'd be ultrafubared). All of these killers are quite reliant on their power at all points of the game. Suddenly losing it for doing what you need to to complete your objective is a terrible idea.
Hatch grab was super inconsistent and made worse by the fact you could enter the hatch from any direction even if the killer was standing in the hatch. You're asking to not only revert the single best change to game in the last two years, but cripple killers for doing their job. If you're the last survivor in a situation where the game has went poorly, you need to be hard pressed to get out and should feel hopeless.

@ReikoMori You forget though that they still have no hope once the hatch closes; They have to deal with Endgame, a Killer chasing them, and still have the chance to escape with a key or Wake Up, but the chances of that actually happening are slim. The changes just help give more situational awareness towards both sides!
Killer wants to close the hatch? The final Survivor can try to stick near exits and take 10-20 seconds to escape, still giving a small chance for the killer to get to them, but only if they are aware of how far apart the gates are and if they have NoeD to help them.
Survivors can look for hatch, but if they stick too close to the Killer while doing so, they can either have it close right in front of them or get yanked out. There’s still a lot of advantages for the Killer to have, it’s just all about thinking your gameplan out. I do like the feedback though from everyone, it was only an idea that I had been thinking about. 😄

I disagree with the sentiment that survivors need anymore of a boost to survival. They got an abundance of tools and the only thing that has changed is that the hatch is no longer the safe option and now they are pressured to make a choice due to being timed. Killers play under that same pressure state the entire time of the trial and when we make mistakes or play poorly we feel it. Survivors now have to feel that in only the end game and now things that weren't an issue are an issue. Hatch should have never been as effective an escape tool as it became.
Even if the egc needs tuning, which it most likely does, calling for a rework after not even a month or two has passed isn't healthy. Survivors need to take time to adjust themselves and adapt to what the game is before anything changes. It's what they say to us all the time and for the most part killers have done just that. Adapted. Even when adaptation was definitely not the best course of action.

I like your idea

This comes from a survivor main.
Survivor gets to the hatch first, he wins.
Killer gets to the hatch first, survivor gets another shot. It is difficult but not impossible.
If the survivor doesn't succeed, then the killer wins.
I think that at this point, both sides should be happy about this change. Now the hatch spawns regardless of how many generators get completed, and even if the hatch gets closed, survivor still has another chance.
Instead of relying on the hatch, survivors should focus on completing 5 generators. People should learn to take the loss and move on to their next match imo.

As a survivor you could just hide by a door when you are the last alive. Unless the hatch is in the same area (then just jump in the hatch obviously) the killer likely wont make it to you after closing it unless its billy/nurse. And even then you might still have enough time.

Nah EGC is fine as it is just stop
Sure let's put hatch grabs in the game again, they along with not being able to close the hatch totally weren't the reason why the endgame was #########
You're just trying to solve an imaginary problem with another problem that THANKFULLY was solved with the last patch.

Im going to form a conclusion that you don't play much dbd, or if you do, only killer, or if you do play some survivor you run iron will, urban, and self care and be useless all game. Just, based off of that comment that wasn't really related to OP post at all.

The only thing I dont care for with end game collapse is that survivors gen rush now more than ever before. Now before everyone states the obvious, I know that is not the reason for it, its simply my observation. Ive never seen so much gen rushing until now....am I missing something from the survivor perspective?
