Dead By Daylight in 2016

When I look videos of DBD from 2016, I'm like

"The atmosphere was so much better before"

I would like to know if people share my thought or not?

    The environment itself felt scarier.

I agree, the atmosphere had a more "horror" aspect to it. It was probably the darker lighting.

    Elaborate?

You were new to the game and (maybe) hadn't seen footage of it beforehand, so encountering the killer/exploring was a lot scarier. I literally went into DBD without knowing anything about, since I randomly put it on my Gamefly queue after F13 had a long wait. I was so scared of the heartbeat, I nearly closed the game.

I completely agree. The old engine and the darkness of the maps made it look a lot scarier than it does right now.

Everything felt a lot more eerie back then. I miss it :-(

@dfrenchiee I don't. The game back then was pure cancer for everyone playing killer.

I want that back, even for just one day

  • Even though survivors were disgustingly overpowered...

The game was hands down the most fun experience I have had since Halo Reach in it's hayday. There were loads of issues but my god they were beautiful. I genuinely want to go back to when this game was fun.

Hooks stayed broken forever, Gen rushing was insanely easy, people would 99 generators, iron grasp and agitation were the meta, no ruin (shocking I know.), face camping was a thing, the bloodweb was insane and brutal.

Survivors and Killers today don't know how easy they got it, I wasn't around for 2016 but I can agree it was a lot worse back then for killers and even survivors in some aspects (but not really for survivors.)

Nah i don't think so. If you are talking about darkness of the maps, it is now more darker than before by far with the engine updates, and about gameplay... survivors had really disgusting jungle gyms, no entity blockers, and hooks stayed broken forever.

It's not like the game its in the state it should be right now but it improved a lot. Also facecamp and camping was a real thing back there.
