Hit Boxes

One of the biggest issues with this game is the hit boxes, the amount times the killer has swung in thin air and the hit managed to connect with me is beyond belief, the killer even has his back and the hit still connects.

Even a lot of content creators have also raised issues with the hit boxes, so it's something that needs to be looked at.

    Known issue, we have to wait for dedi servers.

    It's just a problem of latency, not hitboxes.

    They already looking at hit the issue it could be the animation of the killers or soemething but when dedicated servers comes out they will fix it

    They've acknowledged some mechanics regarding hitboxes need a tweeking.

    Getting hit 2 steps after a vault can be infuriating.

    I've seen clips of dedicated servers on the PTB, the hit boxes seem to be just as bad.

    HITBOXES AND HIT REGISTRATION – FIRST STEP 

    One of the most reported issue on the game now is the way the game handles hit registration and hitboxes. We investigated to find what was the cause of this issue and we found that the main culprit was different instances of desynchronization. Desynchronization can be caused by input lag, animation issues, registration issues as well as user lag. This is the core of this issue and migrating to dedicated servers will give us the tools to handle hit registration better. 

    Being hit through the window is by design. A window is an opened element and killers should be able to reach through it. Players suffering from desynchronization issues will have the feeling that they are getting hit through the window when they are much further away. 

    Desynchronization problems are not all that we have found. We also realized that some of our killers hit animations were not matching the attack cone which created the impression that the hit should not have registered when in fact, it did (or vice-versa). We have reviewed most of the animations and the adjustments will be released in the next update. This is the first step of our upcoming work on hit registration.

    To basically sum up what @Boss said. The hit boxes are the working as intended, but the animations aren't.

    PS4 Just last night was at haddonfield, running from a clown, coming out of the house basement with the gen -(not the killer basement, you know which one) the window directly in front of the stairs was closed but the one next to it was open. I vaulted, and turned I was in front of the blocked window, and all of a sudden was hit by the clown,..... the clown that was STILL inside the building.
