So Key = Survivor wins hatch at the end?
Just ran into a situation where we both knew where the hatch was.
Survivor is full health at the end camping the general area of the hatch. I get there first and close it.
Survivor then jumps out of a locker runs straight at me and jumps in the hatch with a key and i can't interrupt. If i hit them as they were running at i'd lose. If i do nothing i lose.
######### do i do in that situation? Have exposed/NOED? Only solution to that i can think of is NOED

Bring Franklin's if it really becomes a problem for you, but really you should have ended that survivor earlier on. Key bringers get my aggro over others, so things like this don't happen.

@SinfulHarlot I didn't even know they had one. They were using Ash with the puppet hand so the key was invisible to me.

That's just a "oof" moment. You really can't do anything about that. It's like countering MoM. How do you do it, if you don't know they have it?
1 -
Well survivors have to deal with the exit gates being on the same wall so this doesn't bother me.

@Boosted_Dwight You changed your icon.

Even with the puppet you can see it now.

What do you mean it's always been Dwight ;)

where's the news? thats how the key works. At least there's no stand-off

In this scenario, you can bodyblock the hatch opening prompt by standing in front of the hatch (not on top of it).

If survivor has a key, this is just in their advantage. Kind of like how a mori puts the game in the killer's advantage. Some items and offerings are just powerful enough to change how the game works. This is one of them.

You could grab them as they jump. Did that before to a Nea who tried to leave the party early, but I keep an eye out for keys.
I look at it like this, I can bring a mori and their only counter is to not get caught. They can bring a key and I can counter with Franklin's, or kill them before they can get the hatch to spawn. I still have the advantage.

Kills the ones with keys first duh
1 -
You cannot. It got patched out. RTFM!
1 -
No, you can't. It was removed with the EGC. When did you grab that Nea, exactly?
1 -
Now that grabs are removed, yes. You might be able to close the Hatch again when the Survivor reopens it but you’ll probably have to get lucky for this to happen.

LMAO!
You got outplayed.
Seriously.. will you KILLAH MAINZ JUST FRICKEN DEAL WITH THE FACT YOURE BEING OUTPLAYED!?
You will NOT win EVER. SINGLE. GAME.
Stop the whining, FOR FUGGZ SAKE. Christ on a cracker!

I have not had a hatch situation since before EGC, so my bad. Like I said, been playing a lot less lately as the game is losing its appeal.
You still have Franklin's and as I said, if we can mori with counter I can't complain much about keys.

Keys don't bother me cause I still consider it a 4k if I close the hatch in front of them, but you can't really call it being outplayed when it's something the killer is powerless to stop. Every post I see you make crying about "Killah Mainz" is just very cringy to read.

You accept your "loss" and move on.
Need I remind you that you have already "won" by killing 3 out of 4 survivors? The Entity is pleased. You should be too.
Survivors feel a lot worse than this when you Ebony Mori or use any of your Pink Add-Ons. Most Killer Pink Add-Ons are way more powerful than the Skeleton Key.
2 -
No you can't. The game ends after Survivor opens the hatch.
1 -
Aggroing the keybearer actually doesn't help if the survivors are smart.
If I'm a survivor and I see my teammates bringing a key, I remember who they are retrieve key from their corpse on sacrifice or mori.
Franklin's Demise is better so you make them drop the key somewhere in the middle of nowhere, so survivors have a much harder time finding the key.

You can close the Hatch while a Survivor is jumping in. It’s happened to multiple people. However I’m not sure how long the Killer has to close the Hatch after the Survivor has started the escape animation.
1 -
Ah I see! That I didn't know. But it's definitely a very niche case. What killer would close the hatch then camp it? If I the Survivor saw that then you can bet I'd run to the exit gate to open it, even if I had a key.

I don't like using keys myself, I kind of feel that they might promote non co-operative game play where the person with the key will just skulk around in the shadows till they find the hatch and leave without putting their neck on the line to do gens and rescue team mates for fear of losing their key.
Saying that getting into a situation where the key becomes an option is kind of rare. I've never managed to find a hatch to open it with a key because the circumstances that need to fall into place are quite particular. That and the hatch doesn't make a noise while your looking for it within the context of opening it with a key so it's a lot harder than just looking for it when your the last person.
I'd probably go as far as to say anyone who has a key, finds a hatch and is able to use it deserves it because of how much needs to fall into place for it to be a thing.
Apologies, I tend to ramble.

Tunnel the one with the key hard, and hope the others won't pick it up once he/she is dead. Honestly, I think Plunderer is more dangerous: you don't even have a chance to predict they have a key.
On the other hand, we all have those 3K-s when the last one escapes. 4K is better of course, but 3K should make us happy enough.

I don't use keys per se, but my favorite build is Plunderer + Ace in the Hole and I find my fair share of Skeleton Keys just playing. When I use this build I never go into a match with anything equipped. It lets me stockpile a whole lot of junk in my inventory as well, hah.
If I were a douche I would just skulk in the shadows as you say after I secure my key, but I never do that. I always play for the fun and risk it all. Well technically I didn't risk anything since I didn't bring anything into the match.
You are correct though, it is very hard to get a hatch escape while you are not the last survivor. If you do, you definitely deserve it, even if you just lucked out. I do it a lot though, because I play with this intent in mind.
I also try to get my fellow survivors to join me, but most of them will ignore me and not follow me even after I shove the key in their face. They don't "get it" because it's such an off-meta way to play. I have yet to get the Achievement of getting 4 survivors out the hatch. The most I've managed is 3 survivors.

Precisely this! I don't like bringing keys in the lobby because it's just asking to get tunneled. I prefer to go with a Plunderer Build so I can source my keys locally on-mission the Solid Snake way. Killers just don't expect it because of how non-Meta it is.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this.. didn't read all the post... but about Ashy Slashy...
If his mouth is open it doesn't have anything in it's mouth... If it is closed.... there is something in there.
