Some heavy biased fog whispers

I'm not going to call any names of my examples, but I want to say that some fog whispers aren't well picked.

There are some heavy survivor mains pushing their bias and also some heavy killer mains pushing their bias.

There is one killer main (he himself claims not to be biased and plays both sides equally) who literally complains about everything a survivor has or does. And yes, he complains about dead hard, BT (while camping for over 1 minute) and DS (after rework).

The craziest thing about that: nearly always Nurse with meta perks getting pretty consistent the 3ks and 4ks at the end.

From the survivor main sides it's pretty equally biased. "oh he has spirit fury, what a noob" or "BBC and CHILL cuz u can chill and win" etc while using all 2nd chance perks, insta heals and in a 4 men swf group on coms. Oh dear, if the killer manages to sacrifice one of their mates he's an absoluty sweaty tryhard who just plays to win without having fun. But when they all escape they make jokes about the killer how bad he his.

Devs, u picked some good fog whispers who plays both sides and tries to have no bias to one side. But u picked others who are really biased and idk if that's a good choice to represent yourself.

Am I the only one who feels like that or what?

I know those dog whisperers and those are following them. It's devs fault for choosing them. As for perks same thing devs don't want to look into low-mid tier perks, so we always see the same perks.

Have you ever thought about just playing the game instead of thinking about ways you can complain about other peoples opinions every day?

And tbh, I don't like them at all.

They are just normal players, nothing special. And yes , they have their own biased opinions like a lot of people here.

BHVR just took all the top DbD streamers on twitch and made and made them whisperers, nothing to do with them being biased or not.

    Why should we care though?

@TreemanXD Their opinions matter to a lot of people. They can also be responsible for witchhunts.

@Shad03 a lot of people can start witch hunts, a lot of people do value their opinions but a lot of others do not.

@TreemanXD That is true, but I believe @Detective_Jonathan pissed off a Fog Whisperer, and if nothing else a Streamer who was moderately well known.

So we should care, especially if said Fog Whisperer is not reprimanded.

I'd be more so concerned as to whether or not the fog whisperers are good role models to the community than what opinions they have of the game, which if it comes down to that then I can't really think of many if any names at all that are problematic.

The reason why it's fine is because fog whisperers are not the ones balancing the game, they make content that people enjoy and part of making that content in a game like this is showing off your opinions of the game, being entertaining or skilled.

I agree. There are quite a few Fog Whisperers that shouldn't be. They spread misinformation because of their bias and encourage toxic behavior as well as breaking the games Terms of Service.

what I see in this post..... oh no people are starting to call out the imbalances I want to keep in the game, so lets rush to the forums and try to discredit them.

I dont really mind what side some fog whisperers main, only thing that bothers me is that there are no requirements to be decent human being.

How isn't it about censorship, this community has toxicity, it's going to stay. Peoples opinions aren't "Toxic" it doesn't make them toxic to say something is annoying or noob like, it's a game, people have opinions, and to ignore those opinions for "unbiased" ones is censorship.

Some people find the most mundane things toxic so to imply that toxicity is a good enough unit of measurment for deciding who is and isnt a fog whisperer is insane

People are biased, that's just how it is.

The problem is when those biased viewpoints start to cause change, as long as the devs do what they think is right without listening to dumb feedback then we'll be fine.

I think that to give good feedback one needs to know both sides well, I'm not saying that biased feedback is always bad, but a lot of times it is.

And about the Fog Whisperers: As long as they don't mess the game up I won't care about any of them.

Yea it’s one of the many reasons I am currently taking a break, they’ve shaped it to fit their narrative it’s disgusting

I'm not for DBD trying to "control" people. But I agree with the OP. Some Fog Whispers, are heavily killer focused, even the ones that play some or even half survivor. I've commented before to the killers that it's difficult to watch them for all their complaining. They play well, well, when they aren't camping, but even while they're 4k, they're whining about survivor perks. It's a bit much and I don't think they should be fog whisperers.

I believe that by weighing the input of killer mains who constantly 3x 4x and still whine about survivor's perks is a big part of the reason we've been seeing so many survivor nerfs and killer buffs the last several updates. Just look at how long it was to fix legion, and how quickly they are trying to change MoM. Again I'll say it, MoM is balanced as is, and not even that good. DH is more useful, and can negate a into the dying state attack every 40 seconds. I don't even use either at this point.

I have zero clue whats happening in this conversation.

What is a "Fog Whisperer" And why does it matter if someone is one or not?

I understand the part where people care about their opinions on subjects, but that's as far as I got with this from reading all the comments.

U completely missed my point, but still try to act as if you can look deep inside my intention of that. U don't even know which streamers I'm referring to lol.

Fog whispers are a representation of the devs but also of the community. They are in between. They provide informations to the devs directly of "how the mood is" and what can be changed or not. That's why I have the issue that they picked biased mains.

  • HavelmomDaS1
    HavelmomDaS1 Member Posts: 1,948

I would really like to talk more directly, say names, link clips etc but 1. I will get banned here cuz the name and shaming rule

And 2. I don't have to much time doing all the work for nothing (in case devs don't react to that) but just wanted to make a reminder to the devs that they should investigate more deeply to choose certain people as fog whispers and should try to pick people who play both sides equally.

@HavelmomDaS1 And off of what you said, I feel the entire conversation about this situation seems like two sides clashing against one opinion.

    This all sounds... messy.

@HavelmomDaS1 No, I got your point. You presented it rather well. I said you were wrong. What streamers you were referring to was immaterial honestly. I can see though why you did not understand my disagreements with your stance. I will try to explain it a different way.

In terms of looking at an issue, you will always have three sides, the biased one direction, the biased the other direction, and the middle ground. In terms of something like DBD, having all three sides or views is a good thing. Having biased survivor main and killer main views gives you the extremes. Having the "unbiased" or those that play both sides evenly gives you a more moderate view. You can then look and compare what is said from all three vantage points and pick a direction to move with game changes and/or balance.

I agree the fog whisper program never should have been implemented. but as to people in the program and the views they express that is their view and they should be able to express them. if you do not like the views they express just go find one that has similar views as you do and support them.

@FireHazard Fog whisperers are generally streamers chosen by BHVR to promote DBD and they often get privileges such as meeting with devs to discuss updates, game codes etc. (correct me if I'm wrong)

It is generally believed that those who play (or may want to play/are new to) DbD watch one of these streamers (at least) and hence they should be held partly responsible for promoting a healthy environment (not promoting toxicity hahaha right...) in the game (which is near impossible when biased)

    Here's a link explaining it a little: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19925/fog-whisperers-pilot

I disagree with that. I don't need heavy biased survivor mains telling me that everyone should have one insta heal as Base kit to know that insta heals can be broken. Or the other way around from killer mains.

@FireHazard All good, it's actually surprisingly difficult to find info on here about them despite the numerous threads discussing them (often not in a good way, for good reason). I just remembered the call for expressions of interest (linked above) when it went live and know who most of the streamers are now.

A mod actually confrimed the agressor here was Detective in the discord chat logs, it seems they were not happy in a game and initially started by going to the persons stream and starting to talk derogatory about them, then the viewers started on them in the chat and they tried to pull the victim card, their friends (other streamer mentioned) simply stuck up for them, tbh they did nothing to warrant someone coming in and being rude when streaming, the Detective then went onto other some channels and did the same.

If you go to a stream and start doing that its never going to end well, its quite a silly thing to do in all honesty and then to try and play the victim in the saga made it worse for them.

The thing is BHVR new these people long before this program.

They sit in their rooms chatting to viewers and also sub to them.

Those people never starting changing due to being part of the program, they have been this way from the start and yet BHVR still chose them.

It's a clear indication that it does not matter what anyone thinks as BHVR knew exactly what and who they were getting.

Those who were picked have long promoted the game nothing else, they were also the reason the game took off like it did as they didn't really advertise much anywhere else, so a large portion of the player is probably here due to watching some and then spreading it to friends, I myself found the game when I stumbled accross pug one night.

New players seeing them isn't going to change that fact, they have brought huge amounts of player in by keeping it up high in the twitch listing.

So why does having a Fog badge on them suddenly change that? If anything most new players won't even know what the program is and will make the choice to buy or not still not knowing.

It's a back and forth argument which will go nowhere as I stated BHVR knew these people for a long time well over a year or two before selecting them

I see, I see. All interesting bits of information.

I just like being caught up on things so its good to know about this stuff regardless if I don't watch them (Or any streamer really tbh.)

The only ones i watch now and again is Morf or Hybrid panda tbh.

The others can be overly toxic for my liking but they are generally nice and have some good points when discussing parts of the game.

    @lasombra1979 @SenzuDuck

It has nothing to do with censorship. Literally nothing. It's just asking the developers not to promote toxic Ideas and bad behavior.

Anti-vaxxers are just expressing their opinion, but their opinion is harmful and not grounded in reality. This is what OP is talking about when they say that the Fog Whisperers need to be good role models.

Being incredibly biased to one side and bming the other side is not an opinion that deserves respect or deserves promotion. And it is not censorship to refuse to promote them.

  • MistressChara
    MistressChara Member Posts: 112

@SenzuDuck Freedom of speech and expression is the right to say your opinion, It doesn't mean anyone has to respect, listen to, or promote that opinion.

Especially because the opinions are harmful and promote tribalism. Regardless of if they are "toxic" or not, some of them actually act in poor faith and bully other players. The argument "It's always been toxic and always will be" dosen't mean we can't do our best to improve that.
