Problems with skillchecks

Hi people.

When I play a surv i always fail every skill check and so i cannot play very well. They told, on fb, that it could be the ping, but when i host as a killer the survs have no problem; they told it could be the server of the killers but the other survs have no problem.

I don't understand what to do or what is the problem, I even have taken an image to show it. The failed test (got in the good area) is at the end.

If you hit the button where the image shows the skill check, then that would have been successful - not the best, but still successful.

It's really just a matter of practice for the most part, but if you're experiencing lag when playing, it can muck up the skill checks as you think you'e done it but what you see and what the games sees is different. When you play a a match, check the killer's ping - if it's red, chances are you're going to have problems. Perhaps check your own internet connection to make sure you have a decent speed.

There are perks that can affect skill checks but that doesn't sound like that's the issue, if it's happening all the time. My guess is you have a lag issue.

so what i see is: it is good but really is not good??

    how can i avoid that?

If it's the killer's connection that is bad, you could leave that lobby and try for a different match. If it's your own connection that's the problem, check with your internet provider as there may be something they can do to boost it, or advise you have to improve it (such as removing/moving items which could interfere with the signal.

Skill checks are client-side, meaning they can only be affected by things on your end. Your connection, your computer.

This is my ping, is it bad?

That's your ping to the data center that ran the speed test. It's not your ping to the killer. Regardless, ping shouldn't affect skill checks.

What are your computer specs? GPU (graphics card), CPU (processor), and RAM (memory)?

Could also just be the game or your computer having a bit of a moment.

I do notice that, some games the FPS is smooth and skill checks are fine.

But some games the FPS and skill checks could be choppy.

Skill checks are client-side and are unaffected by ping.

If you are failing skill checks, you really just need to get better at them. They are called "skill" checks for a reason.

If you have choppy skill checks, this is 100% a computer-performance problem, but note that even on an i5 8400 with a GTX 970 some maps will still have choppy skill checks.

Just upgrade your PC as mucha s you can then lower your settings if it's really a problem, but I have a piece of crap PC with a GT755m and I can hit my skill checks just fine.

    ok thanx

as you can see from the image sometimes i am able to get them, so i will try to upgrade the pc; but it is strange even cause windows 7 is one of the good windows adviced on steam for the game

You're spreading misinformation around, skillchecks are not client side, skill checks are indeed killer ping based, if you've played any sort of survivor from low ping to high ping lobbies you'd indeed see how wrong that is, I really wish it was like that

Believe it or not, @Orion is correct. The appearance of the skillcheck IS killer-based, but the skillcheck itself (eg. The animation and hitting the right spot) depends on your PC (and skills).

Note: PC specs dependent, NOT ping dependent.

Everyone knows skillchecks are client-sided. Even the Devs have said it a LONG time ago. Get your facts straight before spreading misinformation.

I'm not sure if anyone else asked, but have you disabled VSync. There's some vids on YouTube if you're not sure how to. It may help. c: You could also set graphics to the lowest it can go.

@Victory Skill checks are client-side. It's why it doesn't lag unless there's something wrong with your connection/your graphic settings.

exactly...wrong with your connection.....your connection is determined by the killers internet........we're talking about lag not FPS issues on graphics.

No, thats not how peer to peer works lol bad internet makes the needle laggy no matter how much of a beast your PC is, my PC by any means is not outdated, its high end. In 40-100 ping games the needle is perfect, but in 250+ ping games the needle is teleporting.
