How did i not win Hatch stand-off
This is a pure question, as i just want to know if i was supposed to win or not.
In the game i played, there were two (rather toxic) survivor's remaining. after downing and hooking the third survivor, i immediately ran to the hatch, as i know the 4th survivor also knew the hatch location. I made it to the hatch first, but was unable to close it as the survivor was also on it by the time it had opened. I tried to slowly slide away from the hatch and mashed space-bar , but the survivor just plopped right on in.
Was there something i was supposed to do differently? Was i not supposed to stand in the center? As I've heard the killer always wins in that scenario now.
P.S. If the last survivor wasn't being toxic, i would've gladly let them have the hatch

if a survivor gets to the hatch the same time as you they win as they can jump in during the animation of closing the hatch and you can no longer grab them when they are jumping in either so its just a race right now as to who gets to hatch first

There are no such things as Hatch Stand-Offs. They are extinct.
Apparently there is a way to close the hatch just as the Survivor is trying to jump in -- I believe this is a ping-based latency thing more than an actual intention.
Regardless, you were not supposed to win that. Survivor got their first, he gets out.

If you stand on the hatch you can prevent the other side from interacting with it.
Killer can prevent the survivor from jumping in.. and the survivor can stop the killer from closing it.

you say that, but i literally was at the hatch first. The survivor arrived just as the hatch opened, and i was unable to close it. as i moved away to shut the hatch, i received no prompt to close it. So i am unsure what you are trying to say.

My bad. If Survivor gets their first, it's a done deal.
If he doesn't, then hit him as he comes close, no big deal.

The Survivor can body block to enter the hatch, I had the same happen to me when playing Freddy, they were in the dream world, no gens done, 3 DCs, I went to close it but he stood on it and waited, hopping in as I tried to close.

Wrong. You can 100% close the hatch if a survivor is standing on it. I have done it to many a teabagging survivor
Its only a matter of who presses the button first.

As far as I can tell, whoever gets to the hatch first wins, as it seems once one is there it prevents the other from getting their prompt (you can still be grabbed though, I think).

Whoever gets the hatch interaction first wins. Survivors can't be grabbed from hatch anymore. From the 2.7.0 Patch Notes:
BALANCE
- Removed hatch interrupts for the End Game Collapse.

Pretty sure Killer takes priority regardless if both click on it first, I had a situation once where both the last Survivor and me clicked on the Hatch and I closed it on him which staggered him.
I couldn't believe it staggers them when you do that, which means if that was added it must mean the Killer always will take priority in this situation.

Then why couldn't they?

@Justicar nope they removed grabs from hatch

They should remove that then huh @Raccoon unless they want this unintentional design to be... intentional.

Is it possible that it may have simply been some sort of bug? Did you receive a prompt when you first arrived at the Hatch?

no, i arrived before the hatch had opened, the survivor arrived a moment before it actually opened and the waiting started then.

Cause it is a thing, I haven't had a survivor do it to me, but I've had killers do if before, you just gotta stand in the right place to block it.
