Are they finally getting hitboxes to work the way they should?

Will they be fixed in the next patch or is it like a progress thing?

    How should they work?

They seem fine to me when lag isn't involved.

They seem fine to you?Well i guess you're that 4% of the game base

Hitboxes are fine. They are only changing the hitboxes when it comes to the basement so you can squeeze by the killer.

I recommend keeping an eye on the Developer Updates - they address some of the most talked about game issues.

They mention Hitboxes/HitReg in the latest one:

Hitboxes are not the problem, the ping is the problem, everything that happens on the Killer screen (he is the host) will happen in all the clients (the survivors), doesnt' matter how far you were during you vault jump or pallet drop, its depends on the Killer's connection.

You need to play killer more. Even on the killer's side you quite often get bullshit hits or not hits. Ping plays a role, yes, but hitboxes are core problem.

I'm an main killer my friend, I think you should learn a little bit about how online games works. Most everything that happens on the Killer screen is client-side, he doesn't need to send packets of data to confirm something because he's the host, thus making he having no lag on the game for himself, like I said, if you miss a hit, its because you really missed it. While in the survivors side, the clients(survivors) needs to send requests to the host(the killer) and then get an response and then its event occurs. Common example: Killer with ping 300+, if you drop an pallet, it will take like 1 second or more to make the animation, same with vaults, using perks like Dead Hard, because they will need to confirm these action with the server (which is the Killer connection). If you missed something, its because you really calculated it wrong. Hits are counted in the Killer screen side, so It doesn't matter, if he hits you in his screen, it will it you.

*Edit: Thats why Devs are thinking about Dedicated Servers, because then they can resolve this whole problem of "hitboxes". In an dedicated server, both Killer and survivors will send packets of data to the server, getting responses and confirmations that will not give any advantage. In the PBE, still it sucks because they didn't change much things, I hope that with the outcome of dedicated servers they change the netcode of the game.

Yeah, when I play killer I always get bullshit hits or not hits. Hitting survivors out of my field of view (even with Shadowborn), lunging and missing surv midfault, even though its directly on them. Hitting survivors that already made 2 or 3 steps away from the window, Hitting walls instead of the targeted survivors. Hatchets going through survs, hatches hitting surv around corners, and so on. All experienced on the killer's site while I am playing. I can say with certainly that its the hitboxes, not the latency.

I'm just gonna say this now. Take a broomstick. Stick it out a window. You see how far that ######### can reach? Welcome to the game now.

Every 1 in ping is 1 millisecond. 60 milliseconds is 1 second of delay (or lag). 300 ping is like 4-5 second delay. That's 3-4 seconds longer than the average for a survivor but on the killers' side, he sees you just vaulting because of how long it took, on your side, it looks like you already went far away. Now if your ping is low, then you're just slow. Remember, if you see RED, you're DEAD. If you run in a straight line after jumping, you WILL get hit usually. Sticking your arm through a window is about 2 steps, not even including the weapon, which is about another step. It's accurate.

When dedicated servers come out and I still get hit from a mile away then I will agree it is hitboxes

Hitboxes will never work the way you think they should because latency can never be eliminated.

I think they actually are working as intended, it is just that the ping along with the shoddy killer lunge animations make it feel like hits that hit, shouldn't.

Yeah, i know, it feels like BS, but when playing killer most hits feel fair and that they registered properly

If they do, they'll likely just be reverted. It's what they did with Huntress after the Huntress mains screamed bloody murder when they fixed her hatchet hitboxes.

Actually, I'm right. It's called, "Input Delay". Since you're not the host, the higher the ping, the longer it is before your character reacts.

Yeah, because a killer getting hit by a pallet 3 steps away is fair because the hitbox is much bigger and wider than the killer model.
