I'm not impressed by artificially inflated stats thanks to a free week-end.
When the game was mostly balanced during 2.0.0/2.1.0, we managed 50k players without that, the highest it's been disregarding free week-ends, but I guess the devs don't want to acknowledge that.

Still though... we've had free weekends before and this is the most by far.

After looking at the free weekend assisted numbers for DbD, I decided to look at Ft13th: The Game. I forgot how bad it is on the steam charts. That stuff is depressing.

It's free at the moment and is advertised as part of steams spring cleaning event on the featured part of steam. It was bound to bring in big numbers.
Before this weekend the game went back into the red in minus average daily players which for the past few months has been a regular thing outside of the other free weekend that came alongside Ash's DLC.
When the event ends we'll see how many of those playing for free stick around, I love the game and wish it well but let's not pretend this is due to anything other than it being advertised well and most importantly free till tomorrow.
