ONE PROBLEM WITH THE RIFT/BATTLEPASS
So after watching the anniversary livestream I couldn’t be more excited for the future of DBD! I’m super glad players will finally have more goals and rewards to work towards and don’t actually mind the idea of paying for a battle pass that is cosmetic only. The only one thing I am worried about when it comes to the rift/battle pass is timed exclusivity. I hate timed exclusivity so I’m hoping that all skins that are available in the rift will be able to be purchasable within the store after rift period is over. What do you guys think?

I feel like that kind of negates the point of having the battle pass in the first place.
Would be no point in getting the battle pass as you could just wait for your favourite x cosmetic to come on to the store
Cosmetics that you get from it or at least the premium side anyway should be a nice little badge of honour for completing the work to get it or paying your way there depending on how you decide to go.
When it comes to exclusives the only ones I have a problem with is exclusives that are locked to a specific region or platform not everybody has access to it. (L4D content, Golden Min and the deathgarden cosmetics)
If it's a time one that anyone could get if they do it during the time limit I'm fine with it

I completely understand what you mean, I hate the idea that you could pay for a battlepass and due to events which you cannot control within life, could essentially pay for cosmetics and not get a single thing from it.

I see where you’re coming from but I disagree that not having them be exclusive would negate the battlepass because in the end of the day, aside from not being able to have a “badge of honor” aka bragging rights, you are getting skins at an extremely discounted price (or even free) as opposed to someone who would be paying after the fact. I just want everybody to be able to enjoy cool skins for characters they like and not be excluded from that just because they weren’t playing during a certain time period or were too busy in their lives to grind for them.

They said on the stream that the old Rifts will always be there to go back and do later so you will never miss any of them.

Not true. The rifts/battlepass are temporary to the 3 month period that they are active. What is permantnet however are the “tomes” which are also in the archives, and that is basically like a story mode. Completing these challenges will reward the player with blood points/ Cinematics/ charms/ journal entries.

Would you be able to confirm whether or not the cosmetics that will be unlockable via the rift will be timed exclusives? Or will they also be able to be purchased within the in-game store at a later date? I’m really hoping for the latter.

what would be the point of the battlepass? Anyother game doesn't do that, dbd for sure shouldn't. You're either there for it not, if they did that then they might as well bring back legacy lmao.

Being able to purchase the skins from the store doesn’t negate the battlepass. By grinding/purchasing the pass you are still able to unlock the skins early for free/discounted price, rather than having to pay full price for the skins ($10 per skin) at a late run date. This make it so there is still plenty of incentive to pay for the pass without excluding people. If you really want exclusive skins for bragging rights or whatever, they could have a wait period of a couple months or somthing before realeasing the skins to the store.

@Victory They said they are avoiding exclusives. That's why the Halloween and Chinese New Year cosmetics can still be purchased.
I hope they don't go down the exclusivity path again. Discourages new players when they know they can't get a specific cosmetics they might like.

I have an idea.
"The Rift Market"
People have collected things from the rift they don't want, and will gladly give you for money. (Not real life people). But you must buy quick, because they sell out in a week.
Basically, it's 6 random skins from the rift, and you have to use auric cells. The skins change each week. These skins are worth more then they would be in the shop.
I use this idea as it reward players who played during the battle pass with the skin much cheaper, while allowing newer players or people who couldn't get them to still get the skin.
Thoughts plz.

Agree completely. I really hope that’s not the path they go down with the battlepass. And if it is then there’s a legitimate reason for people to be upset with it’s inclusion.

theres still exlusives with past events, I don't see anyone complaining?

Those events were before the release of the in game store, which pretty much ended exclusive skins. This is backed up by the last two events having their skins be purchasable after the fact. (Hallowed blight and moonrise) But yes I am salty that there are event cosmetics that I can no longer obtain simply because I wasn’t playing at the time. (Looking at you David’s untamed donkey jacket 😢) So I don’t want to see it return.

The one problem with The Rift is its entire existence. Battle Passes don't belong in games you have to buy. They are a predatory practice that preys on your fear of missing out, which is the point of this thread in the first place.
Plus, the devs said in the past they didn't want to make anymore exclusive items, so basically they are just lying now.
