The game has seriously downgraded in terms of graphics in my opinion.

It does seem like the atmosphere has taken a nose dive.
I believe this is them valuing better frame rate over ambiance and immersion.

It will inevitably get worse as more and more cosmetics get added, games such as Team Fortress 2 received graphical downgrades as more items began taxing the system. I can see DBD following a similar path if the devs keep emphasizing wacky cosmetics over sticking to it's original art-style.

It kinda just depends how good your computer is to whether or not you liked this change. I personally have an amazing computer so there's zero framerate difference regardless and all it did was nerf the graphics for me, which means I preferred the old look. However if you're someone with a bad computer you probably liked this change.

Yes, the atmosphere is completely lost. But why do you notice that now? It's lost since the first engine update.
Really sad, I wish devs would try to bring back the old graphical atmosphere while reducing the blurring effects and make textures sharper.
Sometimes I just want to be back playing DbD 2016 for the graphics, even when the balance was horrible.

They should unlock advanced graphical settings, and everybody will be able to choose. I don't like the new blurred vision, from the 2.6.0 patch.

Even the fog looked amazing back then.
I actually started playing in September 2017, shame what happened but I guess since the downgrades have trickled slowly you don't really notice any changes until you look back. Surviving was much simpler with thicc fog, dark moonlight, 200% WGLF, Borrowed Time that punished campers and the dreaded Brand New Part.

I agree every map looks muddy and to be honest ugly. I don't know why but they went a bit overboard with the grungy atmosphere to the point where everything kind of blends into one overall color.
They did say they're going to be redoing assets and lighting in the map reworks, hopefully they sort it out.

I just wish the maps were darker, like they used to be. Also the fog should be more prevalent. REALLY hope they address this.

Like someone else already pointed out. More graphic settings would be nice. So people with bad computer can choose the less resource-demanding settings, while people with fast computers can choose the fancy graphics.
Every modern game nowadays has extensive graphic settings so players can choose according to their likeings. Even multiplayer games, where certain settings could give you an advantage. But not Dbd.

i've been saying this since the engine update.. end of last year... it was horrible. some maps are oversaturated/ugly. atmosphere is gone. But like every change in life you just adapt and get used to it. That doesn't make us not wanting back those nice graphics back then. I know they said something in the line of map rework and lighting changes. But i honestly just don't expect much from this to be very honest. That way you can't be disappointed.

Though, advocating for the devil, if they were to actually make the atmosphere more scary again, darker and fog effects, cosmetics like Blendette would have to see to a slight change.

I don't even know why people still hwinr over Blendette.
She was hard to see last year but since November 2018 she is easy to see on almost all maps thanks to all the crappy lighting changes.

The game was so janky back then though. The immersion was better but all the character models and animations were not as good as they are now.

Some people like to turn off AA or keep it on and sharpen it up with ReShade or both to get rid of the blurry look. You can manually adjust each setting as well, though obviously it would be nice to have a normal way to do it but it's fast and easy to do manually.

They look worse, every single "update" looks worse.
MacMillian was so great, I mean sure adjust loops and tiles but why conpletely ruin everything?
It's all so ugly, and they just ignore everything while constantly breaking things on top of adding things that nobody wanted, because a bunch of people that don't even play this game or probably ANY game for that matter voted to do it over a few dozen paid lunches.
When I think of how many people work on this and how much it must cost to pay them each month it just blows my mind that they aren't bankrupt.
Edit: And holy cow so many people get banned every single day lol ######### every thread has people just recently banned and most of them didn't appear to even do anything, I imagine this post will get me booted too. :/

I miss the foggy astrosphere. It was so creepy to see a Michael stalking you while being partially covered by the fog. Now you can see killers coming a mile away.
