Question: Who here actually enjoys pallet loops?

StarMoral Member Posts: 938

Jungle gym's and T and L walls aside, who here just likes the loops where all you do is circle, let's say a rock, until the killer catches up and you use the pallet?

To me, both killer and survivor, they are boring as hell. Just rotating the same place over and over, I'd rather be chasing somebody or being chased elsewhere.

Going around the same object is boring, unless there is a LoS obstruction to allow mindgames from either side.

If a killer is potatoe enough you can run them around on most loops for the whole game. I imagine it's more frustrating than boring for the killer.

Tbh I like loops where you can mindgame the survivor, on loops like the benches next to the pallet it's best just to force them to throw it down because there's no mindgaming a decent player when they can see your entire body and you can see them, just end it asap and hope the next loop is more risky. Not a fun game mechanic, just stressful honestly watching gens pop while you're chasing one dude. Jungle gyms as a standard 115% killer like Legion and Bubba are a nightmare without Bamboozle against a really good player.

most killers who complain about pallet looping are bloodlusting maniacs who spend far too long at small loops

@weirdkid5 so true, I have so much hate mail from people that insist I was "abusing game mechanics" by looping them around a dropped pallet 😂

I miss the days where looping wasn't a thing and the chases were more dynamic.

But we make due with what we have and deal. I won't hesitate to loop as a survivor and don't fault others doing so.

Frankly, I much prefer to try and remain completely unseen by the killer myself.

If they are mindgameable then I enjoy them, if they're not, just endure trough them and hug the wall to give the Survivor as less looping time as possible.

you mean the days when everyone sucked at the game and true infinites existed? good times

  • FrenziedRoach

There was a short amount of time that I got to play in the game where people hadn't made the connection that infinites exist yet.

But yes, we all sucked - I won't argue that.

Then the dark times came, and killer's stopped playing almost completely save for a few of us die-hard fools.

    I get dizzy.

It's so boring that I've had killers just leave me alone when I go to a rock. When I'm killer, I'll do it the first few times. Then I get motion sick and move on to someone else.

Eh, it's pretty funny to infinite the killer using Hope against a 110% killer! Other than that, looping is meh...

Depends. Is it ultra save + see through/shot walls + playing a basic M1 killer? Bit annoying.

But just switching basic M1 killer with Huntress already spices looping up in this scenario. I think the most annoying loops were the old farm map walls. It's basically was bruteforcing every pallet, no mindgames possible.

Looping is a stupid mechanism, it sounds like a Benny Hill Show episode.

Try using Benny Hill music in a Dbd clip and you'll see the absurdity of the chase.

The game would need a completely different mechanic, one where survivors are faster than killers but do suffer from stamina draining, that would make the game so much better.

I just finished a game where I run around bubba the whole match despite ruin being still up, it wasn't fun for the killer at all. Ofc from my perspective what could I do? I tried losing him but didn't work

None mindgameable loops are the problem. If they were mindgameable than they would be fun. But too many loops right now are not. The good thing is that they are working on map reworks so that maps have much more mindgameable loops in future.

Funnily enough, last night I was playing survivor and ran into hmmmm three consecutive Billy's (two were probably the SAME Billy, I'm not sure).

Anyway, I was in a game where Me, a Jane, and another Jeff were just plowing through gens while the David got chased. Billy lost him and came over to us. I went through the Wreched Shop and did that loop for a while (he also respected the ######### out of the pallet) and eventually I had nothing for quite a distance and he was revving behind me. So I just circle a rock. He didn't stop revving, so I was able to keep circling. He did this for an entire gen... The LAST gen.

    When it popped, he DC'd.

This is not fun at all.Got one hit well you need second hit but before you got that 3x times around the palet finaly surv throw pallet no mind game posible? Destroy palet run after him that same repeat no mind game he see you you see him again 3x run in circle destroy palet etc 2 gens pop.Realy hate some maps like autohaven or cornfield.

I do... Because I'm a Nurse Main. Loop away

Yes something like that, I used to play f13 a lot in the past a few the chase aspect was pretty good.

Unfortunately once you master combat Jason becomes quite weak.

Yes but what else can you do?

As a killer it's frustrating to be run in circles, as a survivor you want to survive.

The design is awful and it should be improved.

From both perspectives I don't like running in circles

Oh yeah crouching on a gen is far more enjoyable.

Good luck even playing Jason lol. The random select crap killed the game for me. I have 0 interest in playing survivors.

Yes good point, I used to be mainly a Jason hunter, always trying to kill Jason

I'll do it to buy time for those working on the gens but yes it's boring. Most killers usually say to hell with it and go after someone else anyway. Time is not on their side

  • gantes
    gantes Member Posts: 1,611

    Boring as hell.

That's why I generally prefer to play killers that don't care about looping that much.

Jungle gyms are fine. A bunch of clutter where the survivor can see you and you have literally no choice except run in circles until you force them to drop the pallet is just not very good design.

I hope they reduce or outright remove the non-mindgameable loops during their next map passes.

    As survivor i like it.

As killer i hate it but i run enduring and hit throught pallets is even better

  • gantes
    gantes Member Posts: 1,611

And as Survivor I generally have a lot more fun playing vs killers like Spirit, Huntress, Hag etc because I have to actually change my playstyle and think a bit more during chases, even if it's harder.

I like mind-gaming them as both sides. Open pallet loops suck though, boring for both sides.
