Imbalance issue with Ghost Face's Power mechanics
I've been trying him out, and at first he seemed pretty fair and balanced, but then survivors started adapting and frustratingly discovered that they could break me out of stealth by hiding/crouching behind cover to take full advantage of their 3rd person view. This is a HUGE advantage survivors have against him because while they hide and reveal him, they present no target for him to attempt to expose/stalk. Basically the counter to his power becomes a guaranteed one sided win without any risks, and it won't be long before everyone's doing this. Then I read that the devs are also going to slightly increase the visual area of the screen survivors can detect him with, and while I wasn't initially afraid that it was going to affect much, after experiencing this one sided counter-play... I am very concerned the hotfix will drastically hurt his viability. If they also made it so that the survivors body has to be visible when attempting to break him out of stealth, that would be a good compromise, as it is right now though, it's starting to feel like survivors have an unfair advantage which is about to get even more unbalanced when the hotfix comes out. Am I just overreacting? Or is this concern legitimate?
Edit: TL;DR Survivors can use their 3rd person camera to reveal GF while their character has a wall or object in their face. GF can't see them at all, but they can break his stealth this way with no risk to themselves. In theory the incoming hotfix that slightly increases the area of the screen survivors can reveal him with will make this style of counter-play easier for survivors. Proposing that the survivors character has to be at least partially out of cover for the reveal to work so that there's risk to go along with cancelling his Night Shroud.

@TWiXT
Wait, what?
So you're saying that you potentially can be broken out of Night Shroud in a scenario where it's not even possible to see the survivor?

Conversely, it's possible to do the exact same thing to survivor; in fact it's easier. You can also break LOS and instantly stop their reveal progress and keep peeking, with no counterplay. Happened to me just now and it made me laugh. (though i pointed it out to the killer at end of game and he just called me a salty survivor main, which I'm not...it was hilarious)

That's intentional. Ghostface has to have at least 20% of his body visible for you to reveal him.
So the fact that you can reveal him in corn, but he CANT stalk you is actually unfair.

Yeah that happens often, you can lose Night Shroud from survs hiding behind walls, it happens often to me, hence why i don't even understand why the hotfix plan on making it "slightly" easier to spot when it's already easy ( Yes, even in chases).

I need to clarify this again because this is a common misunderstanding: We are not increasing the range at which a survivor can reveal Ghost Face. We only increasing the detection area, which is just the portion of the screen that is checked to see if you are looking at the killer, and only by 8%. It's very small right now so a lot of people are looking close to Ghost Face but not quite close enough. Increasing it slightly should have a very minimal effect on being revealed if the survivor does not actually see you.
If you aren't already, I would suggest leaning. It'll take the stalk time down from 5 seconds to 2.5 seconds. It'll take them a total of 1.8 seconds to reveal you, leaving them with only 0.7 seconds to notice you and start staring at you. They've gotta' have some pretty crazy reaction times. In addition to that, at least 20% of your body needs to be visible for them to start revealing you, so if you're careful about how far you lean, they won't be able to reveal you at all and have to run instead.

I don't think he misunderstood, he just used the wrong wording.
This is why he wants to make it so the Survivor has to be visble to GF to reveal him. He doesn't want a situation where you can reveal him while the Survivor is hiding behind cover.

welp yet again devs did a wrong move baby survivor mains said to them its too op plz nerf him and they responds sure meanwhile the 80% of the community that liked the change are now confuse of why they nerf him soo bad

I mean in all fairness that means they clearly know you're there. I've been in that spot, sometimes you can reposition and be able to stalk again.

It's not intentional that they removed counterplay from him in this regard; not at all - it was a foresight, and a heavily abused one, at that, that needs dealing with.
And if they lean you cant reveal them unless you're at a different angle. Which is really bad, obviously.

Also revealing only while outside of cover would remove a ton of counterplay, too. If the survivor knows he's there, they should be able to do everything in their power to stop the stalk if they know his exact location.

Survivors have the 3rd person perspective. If they know you're there and see you with their camera, doesn't that mean you've failed and should be detected?
The point of getting the zero TR and no stain is to make sure they don't know where you are.

I think everyone understand it. It's 4 stonecold nerfs and 1 really pointless irrelevant buff that no one cares about. I think he's a killer that will be bullied a lot in the game. Some of changes make little sense, for example Myers has similar add-on that speed up stalking, and when he levels evil within 3, he gains lunge range, faster vaulting and exposed on everyone, not just one person. A pallet stun is equal 2 seconds and if you do math, you'll always be able to break him out of stalk(1.8). Myers doesn't get broken out of evil within 3 on a stun, so why should he? Breaking him out of stealth is easy as long as he has no objects to hide, however if he's hiding, he's not moving which means your gaining distance to get to a loop.

But yeah, I do find this concerning.
Yes, I know Ghost Face would get a Killer's Instinct against a crouched and hiding survivor who spotted him, but still...
That's really sad that Ghost Face can be spotted by crouched survivors behind objects, so he literally cannot see them because it's a 3rd person view vs. 1st person view.
Even worse than that is that Ghost Face can see but not stalk a survivor through the cornfields, while that same survivor can put him on a 30-second power cooldown, and Ghost Face will get a pointless Killer's Instinct (pointless because he already sees that survivor)... Why not make it so that Ghost Face can't stalk and survivors can't spot him while in the cornfields?

Same thing applies to grass, Its funny how they gave him the ability to crouch so he's harder to detect especially while leaning, but if there is grass in his face while crouched like around the base of a tree, he can't stalk the survivor he sees and knows is there until he stands up no matter how close he is to them. Meanwhile the survivor can spot him through/over the vegetation with ease.
Sorry I used the wrong wording in the initial post, I should have said "Visual area of the screen", not "visual range", that's my bad.
Yes I have been leaning, but on top of being revealed by survivors hiding behind cover, I also get fickle directional reveal indicators. Sometimes they work as intended, other times they don't show up at all no matter which way I turn, and if the survivor is behind cover when that happens, I have no idea where they are revealing me from or where I should hide to break their LoS until I've been broken out of stealth and get the KI visual. Someone told me in another post that the frequent lack of directional indicators is due to the distance the survivor is seeing me from. Is that true or is the lack of directional indicators from time to time a bug?
Also I understand that they are simply increasing the area of the screen a survivor can detect GF by a tiny bit so it's easier to break GF out of stealth during a chase, but won't that small area of the screen also make it easier for them to break GF out of stealth while they hide behind cover?
Lastly, and I know I'm bombarding you here with questions so please forgive me, but why did they decide to remove the Red Fill effect from Killer instinct?
That was kinda the only real advantage Legion had when it came to corn fields/dark maps/blendetts since the KI visual lags behind a running survivor. With the red fill effect Legion could see both the direction the survivor is running via KI visual and the survivor themselves more easily with the Red Fill. With only the KI visual, the survivors can run serpentine through corn and easily throw off a pursuing Legion who can barely see them (if at all) as it is. At least with the Red Fill effect the survivor stood out from the environment when the Legion got close enough to see them, and he could more easily choose which direction to go to try and head them off. I'm not sure if anyone else minds that change, but its a bit perturbing to me.
