A Question for ANY Freddy mains on the forums.
I'm not going into a 5 mile paragraph essay on this, as its not really that much to write about. So i'll start with the question and give my explanation in its own section with the question below.
My question for freddy mains
Why would I use any other add-on over the time reduction add-ons? Why would I even use any of them... like, paintbrush is good... but the speed reduction kills it for me. And the Swing chains/Swing Rope + Blue Dress/Green Dress is neat in concept, but is overshadowed by the fact that I get a literal free hit with a 3 second transition time...
Pill Bottle + Paint Thinner might possible be the only ok add-on combo? But the time reduction add-ons just makes it way easier to stealth about, since i'm basically already invisible, so why shouldn't I just mind-game with Freddy during the dream transition. Cause Survivors see you during their sleep transition, but they only see glimpses...
Black Box is only good for a Dying Light build, and that's already not my favorite since it requires me to tunnel the obsession to mori them, or kill them to actually USE Dying light.
Also, Class Photo... Nobody uses that. Why would I ever use Class Photo. So I can put everyone in the dream state? I already have a slot for Z block so its the regular 7 seconds. Why would I want a "aura priority add-on" when people can just get out of the dream state by failing a skill-check or snapping their teammates awake.
I just don't see any of these add-ons taking priority over time reduction add-ons. As those add-ons actually make Freddy somewhat viable. Put that on-top of his invisibility and hes really scary.
conclusion
Maybe i'm not looking into the "other builds" if those even exist on Freddy. But this is just my two cents, maybe someone can clear up why these other add-ons could possible be more important than Time Reduction add-ons...
TL;DR
Why is every other add-on on Freddy terrible except Time Reduction add-ons. And if some of them have some worth, explain why.

I play Freddy a lot but I’m taking a break from killer. Imho his power range add ons are his best.

I didn't even talk about those cause they are so forgettable lmao.
No offense, but those are like his worst add-ons. How is his power range add-ons the best in slot over add-ons that give you a free hit 99% of the time. The only time it doesn't work, is if the Survivors smart and uses a pallet to avoid it.

Because on open maps I can snipe sleep people.

That's only like... 4 maps, ish.

More than that

Class Photo is one of the strongest add-ons in the game. Easily top 5. You just have to be careful because the +2s transition can really hurt you late game. But if used correctly, you can forgo all aura perks and go full gen crusher or whatever you want really. It's also better to use CP if you use Dying Light than Black Box, because BB gives away your build IMMEDIATELY and is only going to help at the start of the game where CP helps the entire game. With CP you can find the obsession super fast AND force some survivors to waste time waking up. Look through my post history for a post about good Freddy builds, look for "Dream Catcher". It's unbeatable unless they know your build before the game.
Nancy's Masterpiece/Sketchare really good add-ons too, because they increase the range which can act like a block because you hit them with sleep from farther away and by the time you get to them they are asleep. It also makes corn very dangerous against Freddy. But the most important reason to use pictures is because Dream Demon will lock-on to survivors through walls. When you use pictures it does this at range, meaning you can hold sleep and spin around in a place where you know a survivor is and it will snap to them, making it very difficult to hide from you. (EDIT: Just to be clear you don't sleep them through walls, just that the crosshair will lock on to them giving away their position).
Paint Thinner (and claws/rake) are meh. They only increase your movement while Dream Demon is hitting a survivor AND since your movement is slowed it can only increase your movement during that time to normal speed. It's not really worth using IMO. Some people like them though, but blocks and pictures are way better.
The best combo for normal use is Nancy's Masterpiece + Unicorn Block, and his strongest combo is Class Photo + Zblock.
EDIT: Dresses are also pretty good because they can make it really hard for survivors to wake up. The problem is it's still RNG dependent, so there will be times where it doesn't make a difference. But when they work, you will crush them because they will spend ages on a gen and never wake up.

The amount of range he gets from range addons is ridiculous, he can sleep someone from halfway across the map. Like the blocks this reduces his wasted time because he'll spend the transition time moving to the survivor, and it puts them in the dream quicker because he won't have to reach them before tagging them with sleep.
With blocks, you might spend 10 seconds walking to someone, then 3 seconds waiting for them to sleep. With range addons you sleep them before reaching them, and they spend 7 seconds falling asleep, that's 6 seconds less time they have that they can safely stay on that gen or reach that hook or whatever.
It'll also make it much easier to keep people asleep since you can sleep people in such a larger range from you. It's like having a 40 meter zone of sleep rather than a 12 meter one. Simply put, the range addons help in more situations than the blocks do.
Freddy has an oft forgotten ability, the transition flickering. A good Freddy will know the timing of this and be able to execute mindgames with it to get a free first hit most of the time without needing to equip blocks. Blocks may actually throw the timing off and cause him to lose out on more free hits than he gains.
Finally the dresses are good just for security, knowing that if someone's in the dream, you can probably count on them being in it for a while unless they find an awake survivor.

Drawings help you tag survivors faster, which can help with pressure, and the dresses help keep them asleep longer.
There's also class photo and pill bottle which can be quite strong.
Blocks can screw your timing if your used to not running with them and can limit the amount of mindgames you can do in the Dream Transition.

These are all good points, this is better to read than someone just saying "Uh... Swing Chains and Blue dress OP plz nerf, if you don't use it you're bad"
I will try some of this when I go back to using Freddys Streamers and Puddings

So basically... Play like Legion for the first part of the game? And Profit?
I can do that...

You don't use block add-ons because an experienced Freddy is getting free hits out of the transition anyway. So you're just reducing the transition time but getting no further benefit out of dream state.
Class Photo is the best game stalling add-on, period. Freddy is powerful when people are asleep and powerless when they aren't. Class Photo gives near complete map control if you want it. If you get 3 stacks of Devour Hope and you have a Class Photo, the game is over.
Swing Chains/Jump Rope give you added slowdown in dream state. You should have multiple people in dream state at all times. You're doing it wrong if you're sleeping one person with double blocks and eating pallet and pallet. This is where the "Freddy is weak" talking point comes from. Not that OP is doing that, but that's what a lot of inexperienced Freddy players do.
The range add-ons are incredible for sleeping multiple targets without sacrificing chase. You can sleep targets on the fly without having to disengage.

Because with 7 seconds Dream Transition you can play mind games on survivors: You start to follow it, then go around the pallet or window it is about to take and hit it. With the dresses and ropes you can make them stay in your world longer and keep tabs on them so you can chase them in places that are not so survivor friendly. They will all be yours at the end..... buuuut they are about to completly change him because of people like you who does not get him. We will have to learn to play a new killer and say good bye to the fun mind games

I personally enjoy class with the Nancy masterpiece considering tht it work like a BBQ giving me map awareness with the sniping to Dreamland.
Use pills to confuse the survivors. The dresses limit the skillchecks involve but like other have said it more of a luck based rng.

So why is it that, when I use Time Reduction add-ons I 3k-4k
But when I use anything else I 0k-1k-2k?
I don't understand @RoKrueger

@edgarpoop @DudeDelicious Well... I can't deny the results, I just changed the perks around btw to Devour Hope, Remember Me, Monitor & Abuse, and BBQ for x2. So ignore how it currently is with Ruin.

Well, time reduction is his great add-ons for Freddy, but Class Photo is best on smaller maps as it allows you to sleep multiple survivors by knowing their locations until one falls asleep, running the dress add-on with this is makes it great to slug with
Paint Brush was made for Mind games but sometimes and is great to mix with the add-on Paint thinner or Z block and pretty fun with Monitor and abuse and the new Ghostface perk that reduces the TR in chase depending on your tokens
I don't run the other add-ons besides these and running two block add-ons

It's definitely easier to get the initial hit with time reduction, but you can still get easy initial hits in most areas with the 7 second base transition. Obviously if you're near a god window or something, there's not much that can be done. But, for instance, at 7 seconds you can stand on one side of the pallet at the 2 second mark, flip to the other side at the 4 second mark, and then go back to the original side and get a hit 90% of the time. Also, if you happen to have M&A on, the initial hit almost becomes a moot point because you can sleep and forget them for a few seconds, then sneak up on them.

Yes you need to juggle survivors in Dream World and pick your chases. If you just sleep one survivor and chase until you catch them you will lose as Freddy. He really is very strong when you play with hit and run tactics.
