Kill Switch update: The Mastermind has been Kill Switched due to an issue with Virulent Bound. The Mastermind will be re-enabled once this issue is fixed.

The Amanda's Letter add-on for The Pig has been Kill Switched due to an issue with incorrect RBT count.

The end game collapse has really messed with the mid game.

If a game goes badly for the survivors now there comes a point where there is little point in doing gens.

Example: If two survivors are out of the game early with only 0-2 gens done the best chance to survive is hope the other guy gets caught first and take the hatch.

This scenario did also exist pre EGC but at least you had to complete 2 gens to get the hatch to spawn. Now you dont have to do any.

I dont think this has been a good by-product of the EGC although I do like what it has done to speed up then end of the trial.

The way I see it, survivors have more incentive to actually fight the time restrictions to avoid being in that situation. Otherwise, just a matter of time until you have your back against the wall.

Yee, the hatch spawns no matter what now... Even with 5 gens left, there is little incentive to bother working on gens. The only incentive you have is if you are playing in a SWF group.

If the killer finds a survivor and hooks them quickly in the match, and starts their steam roll, I'd rather run around picking off the saves until everyone is dead on hook after 3 times. Then only touch gens in between hookings, which get you a few extra blood points.

Fast match... move on to the next.

That is more fun. Gens are just for some extra points.

Yes exactly. Once the steamroller starts you either mop up points where you can and on to the next game or if you want to survive it's likely going to be a lengthy game of cat and mouse at the end. Its not great design as for optimal bloodpoints your best off doing the former.

    Agreed.

I see that the EGC is much needed to help with hostage situations. But I'll say again what I thought from the beginning of the changed spawn rules for the hatch - it has a really negative impact on solo survivor gameplay. Once my teammates think 'we ain't gonna win this' they tend to just sit in the corner of the map and wait for the others to die first. I usually get found because I'm still trying to do the objective, for I refuse to get immersed to the point where it's just a boring waiting game (there are situations where that makes sense, but my point is that way too often, teammates don't even try to power through slight inconvenience). It gets annoying and a little sad.

    Edit.

It was like this before too, b u t there is a difference between "ok let's at least try to go for 2 gens" and "I will increase my survival chances when I do nothing that could lead the killer to me" (the objective, or even saves). The former sometimes led to the game turning around and getting on top again. Now those scenarios are much more uncommon because you don't n e e d to do any gen for the hatch, so some people don't even try at all. Sometimes I'll do 2-3 gens on my own and then teammates start feeling motivated and try doing the rest again. I literally have to play the motivator in some games, god.
