Tips for Survivors

Hi all,

the reason for this post is, that I was messaged in the aftergame chat that I did something stupid and I wanted to create a thread where "tips" and the current meta playstyle is documented.

I am a survivor main that is in red ranks every season playing solo most of the time. I am no looping god or anything but I would consider myself as decent. But I am one of those people that heals agains a legion if i have the feeling that the killer can outplay mit with mindgames and i dont want to be a one hit.

I feel that the meta of how to play optimal is changing so often. Another example is cleansing against plague. Should i not cleanse against her? or only cleanse at the edge of the map?

So i was hoping that we could gather tips and playstyles for survivors here so I and others can improve and maybe get new tricks to learn.

EDIT: I start with the tips:

1) Do not loop the killer next to a hooked survivor

2) Do not "waste" all pallets. Maybe try to leave a one or two out when running

3)Try to repair the middle(easiest to check) gen as soon as possible

4)Be awar that nearly ever killer runs BBQ

oof i need some tips on how to loop/juke/escape a chase (i'm on console, have 500+ hours in the game, but still can't do none of these things). also, these tips can be helpful for newer players

    1. when a survivor is downed, immediately go into a locker, or hide behind a non-completed generator so in case the killer does have bbq they won't see you (or just run distortion)
    2. try not to repair the same gen with everyone. if the killer finds yall, yall are vulnerable and can get killed fast
    3. do not throw down the shack pallet that fast. someone else needs to use it and it definitely won't be you
    4. do not attempt to escape the hook. do not let go just as someone is right in front of you to save you. try to stop struggling when its only you & someone else left

A quick note for people with private profiles: if you hide your playing time dont be surprised if someone in your team plays selfish.

I think everyone runs tremendous terrors now( is that right?) instead of bbq.

Btw even if killer has bbq you can still keep repairing the gen. He will be either on you or somebody else. Better if you can waste his time than letting him take down somebody else in 1 sec. Go in locker only if you are mid distance and you are doing nothing or you are injured.

the timing is: go in locker when you see the kiler pick somebody up. Not when he downs somebody.

Right, i see a lot of people get the timing wrong. Also if you hear the sound and see the bubble fo someone being hooked and you are not fully in that locker, it is too late. I had a lot of games where i was hooked and could see the others get into lockers, but the killer saw them.

@Slayer why do you think that?

Maybe a few more tips that i can come up with:

    • if the killer is legion, try to stay as far apart as possible. Same goes for freddy imho (heal against him?)
    • don't heal at the edge of the map after you go unhooked. There is no pallet or window to protect you. (if you know the killer is in the complete opposite area, then it is safe i guess)
    • only heal at the hook if you can be sure that the killer will not come back
    • if killer is LF, it is extremely unsafe to unhook someone in the basement. These situation tend to stack and end up with 4 basement hooks sometimes

Because bbq has plenty of counters ? BBQ has no counters only if you doing extremely good. Tremendous terrors block inactive gens and doesnt block active ones meaning you already know where is everyone. And unlike bbq it works every time you hook someone.

I think that the perk is called "Thrilling Tremors", but you have a good point. i did not know that he can see the difference if the gen is blocked or not, i just thought it was to slow down the game.

So a good idea, if you know that the killer runs the perk, is to stop working on a gen before someone gets picked up?

And what do you mean with the private profiles. Mine is private, but i did not think that i effects my mates' or the killer's playstyle.

You should heal against Legion imo. They're faster now, so they can down you. It's also more possible now to avoid the first hit. If you're gonna not heal for Legion, might as well not heal for anyone, but that'll put you in a bad spot if there's a gen in a weak spot.

I think so too, but it depends on the legion imho. If he always runs at me with frenzy, then i won't heal, but that does not happen very often in better ranks. If he knows what he is doing and can outplay me with mindgames, than i definitely heal.

    How do you "handle" plague?

And then in that case they wont gen rushing.

When i play survivor i always look up other people profiles to know whether i play with potatoes or not and if they hide i assume i play iwth potatoes so i play to survive on my own. Im not saving pallets etc.
