Candyman Concept: The Rumour
The Candyman
What becomes of us after we die? Do we pass on into another world, another life? Or do we simply end? Regardless of what leaves this world, something always remains: our memory.
But we do not always leave cheerful memories in the minds of the living. This is the case for a person known only as the Candyman. So cruel and unjust was his demise, it spawned a legend of the malicious spirit he must have become. But words have power, and soon the rumour took a very literal life of its own.
Like the word that ordered the Candyman’s death, now the word of the Candyman has come for blood. For what is blood for if not to be shed?
Killer - The Rumour
The Rumour is an unreal killer, able to enter survivors minds where walls cannot stop him, and convert survivors through mental torment to betray their own allies.
His perks Say my name, Hostage Taker, and Delusion will grant him power when he is defied, and bend survivor’s perception of what is real.
Power - Candyman's Congregation
The Candyman is less than a ghost, and yet more. He is the whisper in the classroom, the writing on the wall, the echo in the darkness. Those who do not believe shall learn fear, and those who do shall be blessed.
The Rumour is invisible while in the peripherals of survivors vision, he can only be seen when looking directly at him. The area where he can be seen is large, but he can’t be seen if he’s at the edge of your screen. The sound of buzzing bees can be heard if he is very close.
Press the ability button while targeting a survivor to use Be my Victim and enter their mind, choosing them as your Victim.
When using Be my Victim:
- You gain the ability to travel freely through walls and obstacles.
- All survivors, scratch marks, blood pools, and auras become invisible to you. You cannot see grass move either, however you can still hear everything normally.
- You become invisible to all survivors except for the Victim.
- The Victim is aware that they have been affected (Audio and/or visual world shift ala dream world)
- The Victim will become visible after 4 seconds. Any of their scratch marks or blood pools outside of a 12 meter radius of them also become visible.
- If you damage the Victim, they will not be injured, but will instead be Tormented.
- You cannot damage other survivors.
Be my Victim ends after you Torment the Victim, press the ability button again, or after 14 seconds pass. When Be my Victim ends, you are returned to your original position. The sound of buzzing bees can be heard in this location during Be my Victim.
A Tormented survivor:
- Cannot Repair generators, Heal survivors, Cleanse Hex totems, or Sabotage hooks.
- Can end the Torment by performing a Betrayal action on a survivor or generator.
A Betrayal action:
- On a healthy or injured survivor will damage the survivor.
- On a generator that is repaired past 25% will immediately regress the generator by 25% of its total progression.
After remaining Tormented for 30 seconds, a survivor becomes Blessed.
A Blessed survivor:
- Is no longer Tormented and can now act normally.
- Will be damaged by Be my Victim instead of being Tormented.
- Can still end the Blessing by performing a Betrayal action on a survivor or generator.
Hooking a Tormented or Blessed survivor will end either condition.
Tormented and Blessed survivors are visually highlighted, and have marked icons that only the killer can see. This highlight disappears during the Test of Faith.
“I am the writing on the wall, the whisper in the classroom. Without these things, I am nothing. So now, I must shed innocent blood.” - The Candyman
Perks
Say My Name
Whether in prayer or dare, it calls to you. You are doubted and so you must come.
While out of chase:
- You are alerted whenever your aura is read by a survivor, and shown the direction but not the location of the survivor for 3 seconds.
While in chase:
- This perk alerts you and gains charges while you are in vision of the survivor you are chasing, and loses charge at half speed while you are out of vision of the survivor.
- After 25/20/15 seconds of charge, the survivor’s aura is revealed to you for 3 seconds while the perk drains of charge.
- The perk will stop draining while you are in vision of the survivor.
“Candyman, Candyman, Candyman, Candyman. Candyman.” - Helen Lyle
Hostage Taker
Credit for this perk's concept goes to koooltbr's own Candyman concept. I liked the idea so I made my own.
You are not without a plan. Innocent blood must be shed, no matter whose.
After spending 25/20/15 seconds in chase, this perk activates.
While active:
- The closest survivor to you that is not in chase becomes the hostage. The hostage will change if another survivor becomes closer.
- The survivor you are in chase with will see the aura of the hostage.
- If you injure a survivor, the perk de-activates.
- If you leave chase without injuring a survivor, the hostage will scream, revealing their position to you for 3 seconds.
“I have the child. Allow me to take you or he will die in your place.” - The Candyman
Delusion
Your existence is a contradiction, enough to make survivors doubt their reality, and see things that are not there.
1 fake generator spawns at the start of the match. This generator can be repaired, and is treated as a normal generator, but has the following special rules:
- You do not see this generator’s aura normally.
- You cannot kick this generator, and it can never regress.
- Repairing this generator does not provoke skill checks.
- This generator’s aura is not revealed to survivors using aura reading abilities.
- When repaired to 60/70/80% the generator vanishes, and does not count as a completed generator.
- You will be alerted when the generator vanishes.
- Survivors working on the generator when it vanishes will see your aura for 6/4/3 seconds.
“I am rumor. It is a blessed condition, believe me. To be whispered about at street corners. To live in other people's dreams, but not to have to be. Do you understand?” - The Candyman

i think delusion would become meta. i would pray for a perk like this to enter the game without being modified heavily (example: people wanted a perk for a survivor to have a terror radius, dd came out and people hate it)
however, i could suggest that 1/2/3 generators are fake at the beginning of the match and when one of them is completed the rest of the fake gens will return back to normal, just to increase the chances of a fake generator going off
everything else is good tho <3

I don't like the idea that survivors can "betray" each other. It'll just encourage working with the killer. Besides that, this is a pretty neat and well written idea.
