What's with the hard 4 minute timer when creating a lobby as killer?
I understand some people think that this wait is due to people playing ghost face, which would make sense, except that the game always waits about 4 minutes before creating a lobby. If it was congestion then at a time like 3am when less people are on, I should be able to create a lobby immediately. This worked when the spirit was released.
So, to test this out, I played a few matches each hour throughout last night, and every time I had to wait 4 minutes before a lobby was created. During busy hours, the wait is longer, but it's like the game waits 4 minutes, and then you wait for congestion.
When I queue as a survivor there are no problems joining a lobby. When it's busier I wait about 5 minutes on average, and late at night it's almost immediate. So, what's the deal?

That is how matchmaking is structured. The game has been altered from killers immediately creating a lobby to a setup where the game attempts to secure 4 survivors before the killer is allowed to setup the lobby. Depending on where you live, what time of day you play, and how many people are playing the times can vary. It is also trying its best to match with players of similar rank, but that isn't always possible.

Wrong. If that was the case, 4 survivors would spawn into the lobby as soon as it gets created. But thats not the case. In reality, the game lets the killer wait minutes until the lobby opens, and THEN it searches for survivors. I have no idea why, but thats how it works now.

Any chance you can show me where you read this? Because while trying to figure this out, the lobbies I created didn't fill any faster than they used to. All that's different is having to wait 4 minutes for a lobby to be created, then wait for survivors to join as they did before this timer was added.
I do remember them saying something like this about match making with dedicated servers, but does anyone know if those are up yet?

This is the current matchmaking system we are using.
You need to take into account that the game even with matchmaking is still p2p and even if has a group of survivors they don't all load in as quickly as you'd think. The game is notorious for dropping you out of queue back to the main menu and it keeps trying to fill those drops as they happen. You're thirst to prove someone wrong is admirable.

Okay, but why is it that with the new matchmaking, it takes so so much longer to find 4 survivors? With the old matchmaking I got 4 survivors in 2 minutes. Now I need 6 minutes. 4 of which are me "searching for a match" and the other 2 are survivor joining my lobby. To me it looks like nothing has changed, apart from that the killer now needs to wait additional minutes to open the lobby. During those minutes the matchmaking does practically nothing.

It's clear that the matchmaking has changed in the last two weeks.
Lobby creation for killers is a longer process and it's very annoying.
This has contributed to male waiting time during the blood hunt unbearable.
Without this change the blood hunt would have been easier, like the one in May or the one at the end of 2018

Ah, I'm dumb. I thought your response to a banned cat, was to me. The way this message board quotes things is counter intuitive.

That was for A Banned Cat. Not you. I even separated the quotes...
