The devs never said DbD can't have/won't have a monster killer.
I don't know why this argument is repeated so often in future killer speculation posts here and elsewhere in the community.
That statement is 100% incorrect and only partly based on the truth.
This argument comes from a dev stream a long time ago where they were asked about a spider killer. They said stuff like this is too costly and likely won't happen they want to stick to humanoid so they can transfer animations.
Like how Hag/Spirit/Legion/Freddy all share Hags vaulting animation (besides spirit from survivor PoV)
This does not mean monsters are out of the question. It only means arms and legs are Required.
So stuff like Alien/Predator/Mummy/Demogorgon/Werewolf are all possible and the devs haven't said "never 100% won't happen" on these. (I'm not saying these will happen/I want to happen they're just examples)
Aragog and Smaug are indeed never going to happen

I agree. It would be a terrible business move to rule out any monster killers when they're such a huge part of the horror genre.

This place is an echo chamber of misinformation so Im glad somebody finally cleared up that misconception

Yeah, exactly. they only said that they won't do non humanoid killers and people think "Oh no, no monsters ever only humans"

Cool.

I hope you are right. In the meantime you will have to settle for me: I will camp or tunnel whenever I damn well please and I will never give you the hatch, in fact I will let you crawl to it for a little while before mori you right next to it or close it in your face :-)

@RoKrueger weird flex, are you implying you're the real monster?
3 -
@ClogWench ;-) ;-)

This "humans only" mentality becomes boring after a while.
Look,I love Ghostface, but another killer with a knife?
We NEED a non-human character.
*cough cough* a xenomorph *cough cough*

Imho Alien would be SO out of place in this game.. It would be ridicolous to see its model on all these sub-urban maps.

Imagine running from a xenomorph, genetically modified apex predator of the galaxy, by lightly jogging and occasionally smacking it with some wood.
3 -
Yeah, that's another thing that would annoy me. As for Slasher's killers, it's kind of ok, as we see in the movies: teenagers running away from those killers, sometimes knocking them out, etc.

I want a killer that's a bear. Just a regular bear. Nothing supernatural or malevolent, just a regular bear the entity yoinked out of northern Canada and dropped into the preschool.

I just imagined Yogi chasing after me screaming about picnic baskets. :O

The Devs also said: "No Clowns!"

@Vancold Imagine doing that with Freddy.
Freddy is supposed to be super op in dream world...They'd just say entity nerfed Xenomorph like they said entity nerfed freddy in his lore.

@ClogWench Can we settle for Winnie the Pooh? He's a bear that walks on legs primarily.
So he fits the rules :)

So we can hope 😎

Thank you for fueling my nightmares. xD
What about an animatronic (like FNAF but not really)?

Oh no I want a real bear. Feral and wild.

What about a bugbear or an owlbear?

They've also said that they prefer to focus on slasher film centric killers. Also you can take things like Predator out of the mix as they have their own asymmetric game in development by Illfonic. That means the license for gaming is currently already in use. The Alien license is also notoriously difficult to get as it is very expensive and is also currently in use by another studio. They can make their own mummy or werewolf, but if you're looking for iconic licenses you'd need to deal with Universal which is hit or miss. The last time they licensed the Mummy was for their reboot and that was to Wayforward for a small budget game. They've since done nothing else as the movie bombed at the box office and crushed their plans to launch a full cinematic universe.
Behaviour could put Demagorgon in DBD, but if you've kept an eye on their website and job listings they've been hiring staff for an unannounced title. So I would think it is more likely that Stranger Things will get its own full game. They've specifically called out Jeepers Creepers as killer they won't seek out as they director is a pedo. The one thing they said they wouldn't which they then did is make a killer clown.

they said they wouldnt put a clown in too,...
and,... we have a clown.
Two if you count ghostface LUL

The devs never say anything. For all we know that stupid leprechaun could be the next killer XD.
0 -
I mean they also said they would never have a clown or religious based killer and we got the plague and obviously clown

Monsters sure but again, they'd have to be humanoid in shape, It's just how the games built.
They have to fit trough all the door frames already in place as well as be able to fit trough and vault the windows. Then you have the first person camera on a killer which is another reason most killers share the same general shapes and sizes.

@Bongbingbing Xenomorph and Demogorgon for example wouldn't they fit all of the above?
Iirc they're about as tall as a large person they'd be plague height.
Xeno kinda crouches/hunches over though i think.
