Totems

I was getting sick of ruin being destroyed in the first 60 seconds so I wanted to try something new so I gave huntress lullaby a shot, I just finished game 5 and the totem has been destroyed every time before my first hook.... what the hell is are you supposed to do short of camping your own totem freeing survivors to do gens freely? waste a second slot for hunt that hardly helps?

have there been any word on totem improvements from the devs? they seem useless in red and even purple ranks

Edit: useless as in once survivors know the spawn locations the totem does nothing but delay a survivor for 30-60 seconds.

The last time we heard anything on Totems from the devs was that "they now have tools to better place Totems".

Even without the tool though, they've always been "working" on Totem placements, and there's always been extremely sucky places.

They haven't done anything yet, but as of right now, they can still easily spawn in open places and next to Generators.

There's some great spots too, but your Hex will only have a 20% chance to get on that great Totem spot, so yeah.

I advise you to not use hex perks for serious matches (excluding ruin in high ranks), you will only suffer. Try using them only for fun matches or meme builds (or if you are very optimistic)

I have been running ruin at R2-3 and its infuriating how fast it gets taken out that's why I was looking for something better.

They improve with every patch to the point where there are games where survivors will literally destroy all totems but the hexed one, and they're not too rare. At the end of the day, the issue is that it has a large element of RNG to it.

The best way to improve Totems is to make them objects that would appear in the map instead of a universal look.

    A Chalkboard in the school

    Mattress in Haddonfield

    ETC

That would make them harder to locate as well. Making some hexs actually viable not just going "shiny"

Oooor just remove them from being able to be tracked by maps....

unless something drastically changes from rank 2 to rank 1 I see maps on survivors once every 50 games.

Do you go straight over to your totem first thing when you spawn in or patrol areas you think they may have spawned? As a survivor, a lot of times I'll look at where the killer goes first or where they keep returning to when looking for a totem.

What lead to the impression that Lullaby would work better than Ruin? I mean, in general, yes, Lullaby with 5 Stacks might really be better than Ruin, but in terms of cleansing, there is no difference between those two.

Maybe you can try out Pop goes the Weasel. Was already good and got buffed, you will have full 60 seconds to kick a Gen. And 25% Regression is a lot.

I figured they might leave it be for a bit if they did not see ruin being up the moment they touched a gen.

and no i don't go straight to totems, sometimes I can't even make it to that general area before its gone
