Two-Powers-Freddy

This is an appeal to the devs from a long-time Freddy main that is dreading the upcoming Freddy rework and has been doing so for about a year already.

I know that many players still believe that Freddy is the game's weakest Killer and for up to almost one year after his release, I agreed with those players, that was until I started playing him more seriously and learnt to work with his weaknesses and use them to my advantage, in turn also maximising what I could get out of his Power. After a while, Freddy turned from a Killer I hated to play as into my new main, alongside the Huntress and later the Spirit. I've been successful with him across all Ranks and do believe to have mastered his power by now. So have others.

With the rework, that would all change as the new Freddy will be quite different to the current one. Other Freddy mains and I have advocated to abandon the rework and instead give him QoL updates to diminish the fact that currently just about every game mechanic is stacked against him (like healing overriding his pick-up prompt).

We've mostly been ignored or disregarded, with players, who usually were not Freddy mains or at least not to our skill level, being adamant about his status as the lowest Tier Killer, which we know, he isn't. We are convinced that the new Power lowers his skill ceiling.

I'm well aware that you have already spent many resources on reworking him and I don't implore you to completely abandon the rework at this point. However, for the sake of Freddy mains such as myself, I propose something with which you could kill two birds with one stone and please both us and those that are looking forward to the new Freddy, something which would make him unique amongst Killers: give him two selectable Powers, the Legacy Power and the new Power.

That way, Legacy Freddy mains could still play the Killer they've grown to love the way they learnt to play him for such a long time and the new Freddy players could enjoy playing the new Freddy.

Dream Demon could remain as his new Power and Dream Master could be his old Legacy power. Considering that Powers are basically the Killer's version of an Item that is equipped, this should be possible to implement.

Please let me know what you think of this, it would be hugely appreciated.

I dont see the problem with that idea as it has been around since the halloween chapter. Having mirror myers as alternate ability instead of an addon would be dope.

In freddy's case it'd be a nice goodie for those who actually like his current kit. Unlike previous balance xhanges, it's the first killer getting a completely new ability.

And if freddy, jason and leatherface can have different kits in mortal kombat, then it'd be possible here too (😆)

You know they would never do this.

This is an original concept that could expand DBD as we know it, not only for Freddy but for Killers in general. I like it. But it's definitely something that requires a good amount of work!

It could also set a precedent for upcoming reworks, in cases of a divide in the community, where one side prefers to play a Killer's old Power and the other side would prefer to play a Killer's new Power.

I'm specifically mentioning a divide, because I don't think that every rework would need to result in a Killer with an old and a new Power to choose from, but in cases of a divide, it would be the best way to please both sides.

I like this because I recently was taught by a friend that I met like 5 months ago that was also a freddy main and showed me what Freddy can also do so now I am also scared of the new rework. I like this idea could be used for whatever killers get reworked in the future as well.

I agree with it, that way i don't have to give up what i learned, Freddy was my biggest main after i stopped playing Trapper. Freddy is viable and would ve EASILY top tier with the QoL update.

I’ve put time into Freddy and I’d like this.

Please, can this get more attention from the devs? I think this would be the best of both worlds.

In mortal kombat you're only changing out between two to five moves between variations. The characters all have a base kit that never changes regardless of variation. You just have extra moves that swap in and out that alters the base play style.

With DBD killers aren't made to have a modular spec and smaller changes can have greater effects. Switching between the old power and the new would be like switching between night and day. You run the risk of getting into territory where you have two play style that are so different stacked on one killer that we still end up back at the major survivor complaint of universal context clues and skills can't be properly applied in a consistent manner at the learning levels. That is probably the biggest reason Freddy got an entire power change rather than small QoL fixes.

I love this idea and wish that the devs can see this . It's a great idea and 100% won't get any arguments (only on Freddy because I'm more interested in getting old legion back???)

it's cool when u have to figure out when u see Freddy (or maybe legion???) and u have to guess what ability is he using . could be a new thing added into dbd

While this is a nice idea for people who really can't take change, the fact that people found him weak is not the only reason he's getting a rework.

It's also about the majority of people who find playing against our current Freddy not fun. They've stated multiple times that they are aiming to make killers more fun rather than strong, so I honestly doubt this will ever happen.
