Down vote reaction is gone. Again.
Hi.
It was a collective decision made by Mod and CM teams.
If you remember, we've disabled Downvotes in the past and turned them on again recently, hoping this time it wouldn't be abused as much.
Sadly, this wasn't the case and this reaction still wasn't used properly, so the experiment failed.
We can't say if Downvotes will be back ever again (probably not), but right now that's how it is.
Peace!

Well, we told you guys that that would happen again. There's a reason people can't have nice things any more.
I do welcome the change though.

Lame.

Jesus. Was a perfect tool for expressing disagreement, without going into details. Some discussions can actually benefit from less arguing, just some silent ayes and nays, especially the ones about simple statements.
Congrats to whoever abused it enough to be banned :/
27 -
Well, as was pointed out, it had happened before already. It was just a matter of time.
6 -
why can't put in the functionality so there is a cooldown so someone cannot spam downvotes on posts or a certain user
11 -
Can we complete the job and remove Vote ups as well? They serve no other purpose beyond pressing a button and people pretending someone "won" an argument.
7 -
I heard a "lol" expression was here. can we have it back if it existed, and if not, can we have it?
4 -
Awesomes should be back :)

Some people downvoted just to downvote sometimes, it was ridiculous.
3 -
Removing upvotes as well would be nice then.
13 -
Good, it promotes negative thoughts / toxic behaviour
4 -
Read Clyde's reasoning again and you'll know why there is no longer a LOL button and why there won't be any ever again.
1 -
There's always upvotes :/

Most of those got banned already anyways.
2 -
The forums just got a little more boring.
8 -
Remove upvotes too then.

Oh, it was abused? didn't know, k thx.
how can laughing be abused?!1 -
Woop woop...

honestly, it was for the better. people were abusing downvotes more than ever this time around, and it definitely seemed like a lot of people were banned or jailed as a result.
personally, if you were to create a better downvoting system, you should implement a "why are you downvoting/disagreeing" section after hitting the button. and if it's a troll downvote, the person can report it and submit it to the mods. it'd make it less toxic and more-so reasonable.
6 -
You stroke it through, but I'll still answer it: LOL basically replaced the by then (for the first time) removed vote down, in regards to what it meant.
3 -
The problem with downvoting was that people either abused it or used it incorrectly.
1 -
It wouldn't have been a problem if people didn't take it so personally. I dared to say Ruin isn't required for killers and I got like 50 downvotes. Who cares? Just because someone, or a lot of people, disagree with your opinion on a video game doesn't mean ANYTHING. If people stopped centering their self worth on immaterial BS like downvotes or other opinions on their skill in a video game then they'd be much happier. It's the same people who flip out when they don't escape or 4k on a consistent basis and scream that the game is broken.

This forum is a hugbox. What did you expect?

Remember everyone...

Likes in general just encourage herd mentality and only take away from discussion.

I can't :'(

No pig cosmetics.... Feelsbadman. Well back to MK11 boys and girls <3

I still don't get it why you removed LOL reaction (which in your opinion was some kind of a Down Vote reaction) and later on added a Down Vote reaction. But still good that they are both gone.

it was abused in a form that it harmed a user's reputation, and in masses, could've caused a negative impact on people's ability to post. there were also users targeting others and consistently downvoting their posts. therefore, this had to be removed in order to stop this, since many people were also complaining that they were actively being watched for the sole purpose of downvoting their comments.
2 -
Downvoting most/all of someones post because you didn’t like them was a popular reason reason.

@Clyde on a side note: What forum board is this site using? I have had heard people having awful experiences with the mobile viewing of the site or users that are using firefox. Not sure if the board is XenForo or not. However, I know both versions of it are easily compatible with most Mobile and Firefox.
1 -
Good. People were getting down voted just for saying simple things like hello.
4 -
Unless they were going through and mass downvoting someone's entire post history I don't see the problem. That should be a punishable offense to begin with, though. There are some people on here I downvoted consistently because either they were rude/condescending/trolling, unnecessarily divisive (making things about survivor vs killer that really weren't, or lumping all survivor mains and all killer mains into one group), or I often disagreed with their opinion. Even those people I still upvoted once in a while if they said something I thought was dead on.
If the mechanic was abused I don't get why measures couldn't be introduced to punish that. Locking old threads would be the first thing. It's silly that something posted two years ago can be brought back from the dead or downvoted.
6 -
Some were punished it was probably a lot of extra work for the mods to find out who abused it though.
4 -
"hoping it wouldn't be abused"
It's THIS community we're talking about. 🤣
5 -
Sadly true 😂

Good. Downvotes brought nothing but brainless dogpiling.

It's a happy place now :)
no negativity allowed :)
:)

I liked the Downvote button. When I didnt like your opinion I just dislike so people see how many users agree with you or not without writing anything. feelsbadman
1 -
i dont think its necessary to remove them.
They were good tool for showing disagreement.
I think, then upvote isnt a thing anymore, cause it shows nothing
3 -
I'm glad they took it away. It could make you spiteful in a discussion when someone asks you a question, you answer and then see a downvote immediately after. It made you want to downvote them back because you assume it was them. It was a nasty feeling. I know I did it a few times and had to backtrack it because I felt bad. I'm not usually like that but downvoting creates a monster that you, yourself may not be.
It was a nature of the beast and I'm glad for all purposes, that it is gone now. I much rather have a lol or something less viewed towards negativity. I don't get upset if someone lol's my post but if I get a straight downvote instantly after posting a reply, I just assume it was the same person. (Edit: I changed because to but because I got lost in my train of thought and had 2 different sentences in my head and together, made no sense.)

How about getting rid of voting completely and expressing agreement/disagreement the way adults do it?
Anywhere there exists such a system, there is a deluge of comments which resemble car bumper-stickers: shallow, simplistic and passive-aggressive. People who like to read, take their time to weigh up their own conclusions carefully and behave conscientiously, they are discouraged from participating. Their views will often only be noted if an editorial decision is taken to highlight it by those running the site. More often than not, it's the snappy and superficial posts getting promoted though.
2 -
And the quest to remove upvote begins......
3 -
Thank you for listening. Lots of people complained about how negative it made the forum (and then got downvoted for saying it!)
3 -
Downvotes meant you didn't say something popoular anyway.
Although we needed it for whiners.
1 -
I rarely used it, so not a big loss for me.
1 -
What was the intended use and what was the abuse it was actually used for?
1 -
No,no,no,no and i say NO.
Happy place where? Upvotes have no meaning right now and need to be deleted as well. Having people who upvote can be abused to """win""" arguments since you can barely meet people with reasonable brain and think they're superior to you.
