I hate playing Solo survivor
because of my team mates. I can count a handful of matches me not getting frustrated with my team mates being absolute garbage and actually playing optimal. Its always at least 1 big brain potato completely destroying the fun. And this in red ranks!! And if that isnt even enough, I get team mates in green and purple ranks against red rank nurse/billy/spirit.
I always try my best to win as much time a possible for my team. Hell, Im even using OoO just to get chased first because otherwise the Killer will snowball the living ** out of my team. MY fall is the fall of the ENTIRE TEAM. Its in 90% of all matches like this, Im on the hook and the match is pretty much over because my team cant continue doing gens, nor can they do a safe unhook nor can they stay hidden on the way to unhook me. Usually it ends with me on the hook and my whole team being slugged.
Like, FFS. Is playing SWF the only way not to get frustrated with your team mates? The only way not to have potatoes in my team? Why is it so difficult to implement a ranking system so solos dont struggle with potatoes? Why is SWF boosting even a thing? There should be a separate ranking for SWF and Solo.
And PLEASE, dont even try coming at me with "git gud, u just want killer to be nerfed". No, not at all. Im absolutely fine with Killers being strong like nurse and billy, I wish more would be that strong for more different Killers in red ranks. The problem I have is that my team mates are more dangerous than the actual killer, and as someone who plays since 2016 both sides and 98% being solo u can hopefully imagine how annoying and frustrating it is. Especially when the devs keep "teasing" us with specific solo buffs and we havent got anything, with ranking reworks but it didnt work and the potatoes are still floating the red ranks.

You are not alone.

As a red rank survivor I have been getting purple and green rank team mates when we play a red rank killer.

"Like, FFS. Is playing SWF the only way not to get frustrated with your team mates? The only way not to have potatoes in my team?"
Every "competetive" game ever.

We literally played a scratched mirror Myers who threw in a Lery’s Memorial offering and I just happened to use Autohaven. We ended up playing on Autohaven and my team still all died with 3 gens left. I watched as the Meg on my team threw down pallet after pallet and just kept running not even trying to loop.

Just make a stealthy Hatch build. Do what you can with repairs and rescued, but don't be too altruistic... and scoop out the hatch in time.

I honestly feel your pain. When I play solo survivor, I often get left to struggle or even die on my first hook. It’s hard for randoms to play efficiently without having a lot of info to work with. That’s why when I play solo, I run Bond because it helps me manage my time more efficiently. I will say though, even when I do end up playing SWF, we still get our butts handed to us by some killers. It just happens sometimes
2 -
I like solo more than swf. I will help teammates the best i can but I won't let them help ne outside of unhooking. To many times a teammate has gotten me killed by trying to force healing on me at a bad time.
1 -
This is what I try to do, it sometimes works but sometimes teammates are still so unaware that it ruins the game for everyone.
1 -
So then only play SWF.
No one's forcing you to do something you don't like. 😊

Welcome to multiplayer game did you leave your caverne recently?
2 -
Just do what everyone else does. Play killer. Playing solo survivor is one terrible/boring experience right now.

I love playing solo survivor. You're not depending on anyone else but yourself, you can be team player or try to outlive other survivors, you can enjoy tense matches with a lot of suprises and unexpected turns of events.
SWF takes all feelings of unknown and incoming danger away, you know that you're safe since your teammates tell you where the killer is, you know your teammates are working on gens, you know other's perks, you know how good they are, you know EVERYTHING.
I don't want to play as hivemind, I want to play as a survivor the way survivor is meant to be played. The feeling of furstration over bad teammates is a part of what makes solo survivor such unique and exciting experience.
If devs ever bring solo survivor player's experience to the point of SWF that would make me never play survivor's side again. I love it the way it is.
1 -
Oh I love it. I mean I have a new record of 6 1 hook deaths in a row. The fact that you can see survivor auras whilst on hook makes me even more wound up!!

Welcome to the club.

sorry, but its a 4v1 game. U ARE depended on your team mates. Unless u play like a dick and dont do anything except searching hatch.

Yea SWF is the only way not to get frustrated by your team. But that's what happens when there is no voice chat

That's DbD in a nutshell for playing solo survivor right now. And that's why I dodge lobbys a lot because I literally learned to detect potatoe survivors because there are some repeating patterns.

/ cant believe how often i have to post this.

I only played swf with my friend irl few times. He is kinda bad so we did worse than I do solo.
I wonder how does playing full 4man squad feels like.

Ofc you need them but you are not dependant on them. You can use other survivors to stall killer so that you can score more points and possibly escape. You are free to help or not to help them as they can help or not help to you. If they suck and you're the best of them you'll survive by hatch, if they are on your skill level gates get opened and more escape. DBD is about your survival, you get nothing if others escape so no it's killer vs survivors but survivors are free to help each other or not.

Oh ,yes,my teammates that get downed after 2 seconds the start of the match are definitely better than I think they are.
Or that Claudette that self cares with Sloppy butcher instead of rescuing me.
Or that Meg that triggers all the Hag traps in the basement instead of crouching with Urban Evasion.
But Im definetly just like them, after looping the killer for minutes and only 1 gen done...sure ,man.

Honestly? Its not about escaping, its about having fun. I cant have fun playing ultra stealthy and take the hatch. Absolutely not my playstyle

Uhm, so you are trying to tell us that everyone is at the same level in red ranks? Please, dont embarasse yourself. It oberval fact that red ranks is floaded with potatoes. Even streamers like ANGRYPUG or TRU3TA1ENT are getting extremely frustrated. I remember tru3 saying something like "The killer who tunnels or camps me is not pissing me off, its my team mates most of the time" and funny enough in that match he got sandbagged and died.
U can tell what you want and post picture as much as you want. When I stand and keep rescuing my mates left and right + do progress on gens but at one point get caught and the whole match is over its 100% my mates messing up. Simple logic.

Today I've had:
- Teammates try to heal me while I'm broken.
- Teammates lead the killer to me while I'm injured or broken. Dozens of times today alone.
- Teammates following me around for no good reason, going so far as to run around my hiding spot while the killer is RIGHT THERE!!!
- The standard dc'ing and suiciding on hook.
- Teammates refusing to let me heal them with We'll Make It instead of self-caring. I don't do much math, but me healing them is 4x faster.
- The standard brainless altruism.
- The standard brainless altruism except they just crouch there instead of actually saving me or doing something useful.
- Teammates spending all game looking for Ruin.
- Teammates who lasted less than 10 seconds in chase against an M1 killer when that chase started with them at full health.
- Immersed Claudettes.
- Immersed Dwights.
- Very very bad matchmaking. Lots of rank 18-20 teammates. Not their fault.
I've still at least safety pipped in the vast (>80%) majority of my games today.

It is ironic that it is often the streamers who play like potatoes. They are trying to entertain I guess, sometimes at the expense of their 'team'.

I dont know what kind of streamers you watch, but those I mentioned and some others I know (zubatlel for example) are strong survivors, most of the time dominating the killer in 1v1 but die to often cuz of team mates messing up.
0 -
I have played with one of those streamers you mentioned many times and I will tell you from first hand experience that he has his moments.
0 -
show me those moments then

I'm not wasting my time looking through hours of video for some random internet person who has a fixation to always be right.

Yeh. 90% of solo survivors (regardless of rank) make me scratch my head and smh. Just played a game where bubba had insidious and was able to kill two survivors at the beginning of the match. Stupid. Jump on gems and let that first survivor die. No way ur saving anyone in the basement with a bubba running a basement build. So I end up de-popping due to ur stupidity. Thanks.

Unpopular opinion: Most players are not potato, it's that they aren't a co-ordinated SWF, of which have raised our expectations of what a good survivor is.
5 -
Solo is unbearable sometimes. I'd say more than half of my escapes are through hatch when I'm playing as randoms seem to like being on hooks.
0 -
Solo surviving is the reason why SWF is balanced.
I bring BT in almost all my matches because that's how bad it has gotten, but every single time (never fails) some genius gets there first without BT.... mind you I don't even care that much about the points, but I just want to give that person a chance. I even tell them I am running BT in the lobby so they know I have it, they still don't care. By which point the person being tunneled dc's because they were unhooked right infront of the killer.

Solo i my favorite way to play :D

I can only play solo. None of my family or friends will touch DBD to become new players because of the insane grind.
1 -
OP you're 100% right. Based on my experience there are about 20% of us at higher ranks that know ######### they're doing. I'm speaking as a rank 3 survivor on ps4. I totally disagree with the posters here that say to "just make a stealth build". In my opinion that turns you into one of the garbage players.
I played a game the other day where me and one other survivor were left vs Plague. I was on the last gen 50% complete as the killer was killing a guy across the map and the other completely healthy survivor runs right past me. If he had a team mindset he would have helped me finish that gen in 5 seconds but he had the selfish survivor mindset and was looking for hatch. This was confirmed in our lovely post game chat.
I completely agree that SWF and solo MUST be separated. The game is close to balanced at 4 man SWF thus it's extremely difficult for solos. Especially considering that your teammates are often not really as good as their rank suggests they are. If they were, soloing wouldn't be as bad since you could assume they knew ######### they were doing.
But the top things that piss me off from the garbage survivors:
Potatoing. There are too many scared survivors. They crouch and hide when they dont need to and could be doing something. I have morons crouching right beside the gen I'm working. FFS HIT R1 while you're squatting there.
Being afraid to take a hit. There are countless situations when someone could save or finish a gen or knock out that hex totem if they had the courage to take a hit. But instead they run or stay hidden and the team suffers. My favorite is when they pull you off hook and then let you take the hit when the killer comes.
Hyper altruism. 2-3 survivors taking turns saving and getting hooked in rapid succession. Yeah. Game over.
Wrong Priorities. They continue doing a gen, or work a dull totem, or check a chest, or get in a closet when they should be saving someone. Then if they eventually DO save, the timing is wrong so the killer has gone back to the hook. Saving before struggle is important people.
Here's the motto I try to follow in game. If every survivor followed it, it would help:
ALWAYS BE DOING SOMETHING. This means something PRODUCTIVE. Doing a gen, a totem, healing, saving, being chased. That stuff moves the game forward. Hide as little as possible.
Anyhow... yeah. You're not alone.

They can't separate SWF from Solos.
First things first, they'd have to completely ban 3 person groups and limit to groups of 2 and groups of 4.
Second, they would need to offer severe benefits to get most killers to put up with the "SWF mode". Even if you buffed the solo survivors a lot of people would prefer to go play that mode instead.
Third, people could just lobby dodge until they end up in lobbies with their friends in the solo mode like they did before SWF was a thing.
And Fourth, there's nothing preventing people on consoles from inviting lobby mates to a party.
It's simply not a feasible thing to do, so they need to make the game balanced for both.
0 -
I don't know that this is true. If you just eliminated the SWF mode for ranked play and rebalanced the game for killers vs 4 solos, that would work. Tons of people don't care about rank anyway. Let SWF players and killers go at each other unranked. The idea of lobby dodging until I ended up in the same one as a friend sounds painful. No way would I waste tons of time trying to do this, let a lone with a 4 man. And taking the time to form a party with 3 other strangers and the quality of that communication all leave me inclined to think that is nothing to worry about either. Separation is feasible. If it was important enough a way would be found. It just won't happen...

Don't play solo if you can't handle it. Kind of simple really.
If you play a certain way and want your teammates to play that certain way, than stack your team.
Otherwise, you queue up solo, you get 3 others you don't know and play the way they wish.
So deal with it.
I don't get the whining about it. Cause once you start making it harder for survivors to pip, many come right back onto these forums and complain about how long queues are taking in the higher ranks. Then when BHVR loosen the rules and you get purple ranks in your red rank match, people come back on here and complain about bad match making.
People seem to want to find whatever excuse they can and blame everyone else cause they choose to play solo.
Don't play solo, and stack your team. But then I bet they would just come back on here and blame the game cause they died from some random bug that happened to them.
These posts are pretty funny.
I like the idea about splitting SWF and Solo... LULs. If killers had the choice I bet many would never play with the SWF. If it wasn't a choice, they would be checking profiles, and once they see 2 friends together, dodge. Just make it easier for people to cherry pick their matches.

U missed the point, I never said the should seperate SWF and solo. read carefully: THE RANK should be seperated. This means that YOU as player have basically 2 rank profiles: one for solo Q and one for SWF. This prevents boosting and potatoes destroying solos fun when they sometimes try playing solo but only really got boosted to that rank by SWF and dont have any experience how to play different as solo player.
2 -
Reality shows that the most are garbage. And me running Bond most of the time just proves it for every day every match
0 -
Then move on. Everyone can claim something. But in a world of logic: proof burdens on the person who does a claim. No proof = no base. Bye.
0 -
U missed my point aswell. I wont REAL red ranks survivor as team mates against a red rank killer. And not potatoes who got boosted by SWF or simply by the bad design of ranking for survivors.
Keep your "smart arguments" for yourself please.

@Das_Only That was in response to someone else lol.

Real talk again: I keep getting teammates who don't understand what "broken" does. I don't understand how, but I am not lying or exaggerating. I've had people follow me around trying to heal me while I am under the effects of "No Mither" or "Deliverance".
0 -
I‘m starting to hate it too. Games are over in less than 3 or 4 minutes because they seem to want to screw up. And I'm in red ranks, not playing with potatoes... or so I would like to think..

no
2 -
Oh sorry my bad
0 -
Saaaame lmao, I used deliverance in front of someone and started working on a gen. My team mates wants to heal me, keeps teabagging for the entire time till the broken status went off and I finished the gen ALONE.

That's why I can't get my friends to join either. 😓
