Freddy might be viable and here is why
Let me start off by saying if I got any facts about the freddy rework wrong please correct me. I really want freddy to be good but it looks like he will still be ass.
Ok so if you didnt get this, Freddy now has a mapwide sleepzone which constantly makes survivors fall asleep within 60 seconds. After those 60 seconds the survivor can wake up by failing a skillcheck or being woken up by another awake survivor... additionally they can find a clock on the map and interact with it akin to the pigs trapboxes.
The other part of freddy´s kit is that he can place dream snares which are easy to place but only affect survivors once they are fully asleep (so basically you cant use his power in the first 60 seconds in the game).
Summarized: It is now easier to wake up, being asleep doesn´t debuff the survivor at all, Freddy has NO TOOL TO PUT SURVIVORS ASLEEP FASTER and freddys power is useless if you are awake.
This just doesnt look viable at all to me.
Edit: When a survivor gets hit they are immediately put into dream state. I didnt know that and it wasnt said on stream but this seems to be the case.....

I thought he could teleport?

You forgot to mention the teleport. Also, for what it is worth, he will have add-ons that will give asleep Survivors action speed penalties.
4 -
i left that out because it´s just badly designed, he can teleport yes, but survivors get a 5 second warning and the cooldown of the teleport is 45 seconds.... its a gimmick nothing else
5 -
but I´m talking about his base kit, clown can one shot with addons but it doesnt mean that that should be considered when talking about viability
2 -
I don't think that's the reason he may end up being bad.
In a chase he is going to be a worse clown without add-ons if they aren't asleep yet. The ability to teleport to gens isn't going to make him shut down loops that much faster; so I'm not sure if a teleporting Clown-lite is a viable killer.

"To add to that, any time you hit a survivor, they are instantly pulled into a dream world, you don't just have to wait for the timer."
Excuse-moi? I don't recall hearing this in the stream.

Teleport cooldown is reduced by sleeping survivors and add ons. Plus they could reduce it after the PTB. I'm not sure in what world traveling across the entire map in 5 seconds is a negative lol.
This post is incredibly negative and whiny.

ok see I didnt know that thanks i will close this forum because that changes things

Yes, however you are falling asleep constantly. All the survivors are. So the 'Another survivor' probably isn't going to happen frequently. Clocks waste time naturally if they don't want to be affected by Freddy's power. Meaning they will be off gens. Dream Snares or Dream Pallets cannot be broken like hags traps can. They also said addons would interact with the time they fall asleep and other mechanics. Simply put wait till ptb and stop complaining. Not to mention he can teleport and has an addon that all gens shoot blood upon teleportation. The only thing like 99% of the other killers problem is gen-rush meta. He has potential wait till PTB.

I wasn't talking about Ultra Rares specifically like you are.

It's shown in the clips that when he hits a survivor they turn blue-ish. I assume that is them falling asleep.

Wait wait wait.. Did they even say that? "any time you hit a survivor, they are instantly pulled into a dream world". This is a huge factor. Thx for the Info!
1 -
He's a worse Billy with snares as base kit.
2 -
He's the extremely add-on dependent M1 bastard child of Clown and Plague with a heavily limited half-arsed Nurse Blink.
2 -
why plague? more like clown and hag
0 -
Billy and Nurse shouldn't exist as they do but you know. Good comparison. I see him akin to Spirit. If they are a good Freddy they can be lethal. Casual Freddy players are going to get rekt because there is too much to keep track of. Although, unlike Spirit Freddy will not be able to take their hands off the keyboard and claim "Mind Game" like Spirit can.

This is an extremely relevant bit of information to forget to mention on-stream, to be fair.
4 -
indeed, if i had known that i wouldnt have made this thread

What about the Q&A from the patch 3.0.1?
0 -
Not to be mean. However, if you watched the game-play during the devs stream your eyes could have taken notice to it.
2 -
Can he teleport to any gen?... finished or unfinished?.. Can't really watch the whole thing at the moment.

It's very easy to miss this in the footage since it's such a massive detail that we should have gotten it directly. Like...... should we really be analyzing every second of footage in real time while also paying attention to them talking in order to discuss what's different from what they are saying?
1 -
thats why i told people to correct me at the beginning of the post.

just unfinished ones

Considering that the Survivors fall asleep automatically now and that Freddy can hit them while awake, it can be easy to not realize that the sleep was a result of getting hit and not just coincidental timing while watching the stream without that knowledge in mind already.
3 -
Doesn't really matter that a micro-sleep hit puts them into dream state when there's no real reason to wake up anymore. Use your clock if it's nearby, nap and gen rush if it isn't.
2 -
Ok, thanks for reply.

The more Survivors that are asleep, the more frequently Freddy will be able to teleport. That could be something.
4 -
Being in the dream state makes you easier to kill in loops tho. Harder to genrush when chases are ending faster
4 -
Plague in that survivors just aren't going to pay attention to their effect and keep on truckin'. Even less so with Freddy, as even Plague eventually breaks you and survivors laugh it off entirely.
1 -
Sounds like you guys did a pretty good job so far

Basically a discount hag that can't teleport and lose his entire power to skillchecks and genrush.
Amazing design, 10/10 would buy with Auric cells again.
1 -
The cooldown with all survivors asleep is 28,125 seconds.

Any kind of judging is far to early to make. For me at least he looks sooo much better. He how has map preassure with his teleport, anti loop tools with dream snares and anti genrush tools with passive dream transition in his base kit.
That's all components of high rank viable killer but we can't know until we test it out. He may be great or he may be mediocre but he's goind to be 100% more fun to play and to face against imao.
1 -
His teleport is worthless as a tool to apply map pressure when survivors can get 20 meters away by the time you've actually teleported. When you get there, they'll be gone, safely walking over to the next gen.
3 -
Also I meant " that can't teleport to traps" in my first comment, but for some reason I can't edit it because this website is as bugged as the game itself and I find it amazing.

Nah, treat the chase just like Clown. Use your pallet wisely (or not at all). And Freddy's distance for placement didn't seem far. He'll most likely place it during the initiation of the loop, 1 second to load, 3 second effect, 5 seconds the snare stays effective afterwards. If you're hanging around the loop, you screwed up. Weaker clown there with no way to cut off ahead of the survivor... and Clown isn't that hard to deal with, himself.
Besides, if he's hit his 8 snare limit, every new snare will (one has to assume) wait on the 5 seconds after-effect to fade on the previous onebefore laying down a new one.
And projection is going to give you a several second head start. Hell, you can walk to a safe spot in that time and keep an eye on the gen to see if he cancels or shows up. And even that goes away entirely with EGC.
Nah, the snares or pallets (or the lowered projection times) aren't going to be enough to warrant wasting any time waking up. Gen rush. Even with stacked add-ons that may make weaker survivors actually want to wake up, it's so easy to wake up that it's not really a major inconvenience (as opposed to, say, cleansing for Plague).
All I know is that with auras gone, mind gaming demoted to standard M1 status, and end game potential blown, I'm disheartened by what I'm hearing/seeing thus far as a "fix."

For reference, the teleport takes 3 seconds. If the started sprinting away as soon as you started teleporting (world record reflexes), they'd only get 12m away by the time you take control. This assumes that they sprint away every time and assume you're actually going to commit to the teleport. Realistically, it'll take a decent amount of time before people react to the VFX so they won't get the full 12m.
In any case, even if they do sprint away, you'll see a trail of scratchmarks leading right to them. It's still great for the sake of time efficiency.
3 -
I made that comment before I knew they'd reduced the time. However, do survivors still wake up once you hook them?
1 -
This is...... quite the bump in power wow I may not have been paying attention fully to the stream I missed this piece of information...
0 -
It wasn't mentioned. With the information I've gathered so far, I'm starting to like this rework.

3 secs is enough to get to a safe pallet because map design
