What do you guys think about making ruin and ds always active (no perks)?

There is couple of ways this could be tweaked. For example, ruin can still be cleansed and ds could be deactivated after the gens are powered because some people find it strong in the end game.

What do you guys think? It would allow more diversity in the game in my opinion since most people use ds and ruin. Too many people.

    Absolutely not. Ruin adds too much of a penalty to new players making the game deeply inaccessible and I'm not even gonna start on why DS shouldn't be baseline

    DS should affect all survivors if anyone brings it in. It doesn't make sense as is that you can be Obsession but not have obsession perks, just because someone brought DS in. As far as Ruin, that's far too OP and would completely cripple new players. DS has a timer and only works if you are tunneled, a game mechanic being abused anyway.

    If one player bringing in DS gave the effect to everyone they'd have to heavily weaken it imo.

    I never understood why people find those two perks strong. Ds was broken before but it is in a good place now except the end game. Ruin is there to buy you a little bit of time which can make some difference or not depending on some other factors.

    I see them as necessity but not strong.

    Ruin is extremely challenging to deal with for new and low rank players. It's less frequently encountered in those ranks though since most new killers don't have access to many teachables, and Hag is a hard killer to use early on. If it became base kit, new players would find the game too hard starting off and abandon it. Considering DbD is hemorrhaging old players, it's relying on drawing in new ones to keep the game populated.

    DS on the other hand is still a powerful perk, just not broken as it once was. But like most perks it becomes much more of a hassle to deal with when all 4 have it. Combine that with ridiculous endgame potential. Its currently extremely strong (could use the stun time being reduced again since there's no reason for it with enduring nerfed), but making it base kit so everyone gets it AND 4 more perks each is way too much and would quickly make playing killer a miserable experience. Neither of these perks needs to be basekit. No perk that the majority of players use should be basekit.

    Fair enough. But still it kinda feels like a base kit considering how many people use it. Sometimes it feels like a 3-perk game with those two so common.

    Maybe so but they're not that common for beginners, and even if they are in higher ranks, giving someone that effect +4 more perks is just too much.
