Survivor best tips

So... I've seen a lot of posts asking for this, if you have another one, feel free to comment.

Tips:

1° When chased, run towards a locker (when out of sight of the killer, he's after your scratch marks), stop running and walk away. The killer will believe you went in a locker giving you time to hide.

2° Learn to 360°, 180°, dodge, etc. Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5omVRjqbWI

3° Learn your play style. Stealth, time gainer (mess with the killer), runner, objective based or teamplayer (healer, unhooker, etc.)

4° Use Jake if the doctor is your worst enemy, never run straight lines when facing the huntress, use spinechill to outmatch GF, the pig, wraith and Myers.

5° Learn when to unhook, sometimes it's better to keep working the gens until the last second before unhooking someone, use their time on the hook to do objectives, don't be selfish, let your team use yours to do the same. Have in mind the killer usually camps or stays close to the hooked survivor in low ranks.

6° Avoid unhooking if you've been hooked 2 times already.

7° Use a headset, SWF is way better in every way.

8° Work on your skill checks, if ruin is on, you can still do the gens.

9° The nurse can't blink through cars.

10° Myers has the best reach, watch out

11° Purple and Orange keys can open the hatch since the beggining of the match, that's what "black lock" means

12° Before starting a match, when in a lobby countdown, check the killer's (host) lag, the bar at the bottom right will let you know if you should leave, stay when it's low yellow or green, leave if it's red, or you'll have a laggy match vs a teleporter killer

Also when there are more than one person working a generator, the killer usually focuses on one of you, so keep working on it if you're not the one targeted, LOL, this makes me laugh every time I do it.

Spine Chill does not work on Tier 1 Myers, so after you hear his music go off. Spine chill will activate as normal.

Hag's traps can be destroyed by a flashlight pointing at them for a couple of seconds

If the Hag puts traps on you while on hook. When a survivor rescues you, hold the crouch button, so the traps under you don't activate.

Hex totems make a sound like if you were near the barrels of fire. So it makes fire sounds when near it basically.

If you use Jake or his perk Calm Spirit against a Doctor and he shocks you, if he still goes for you. That means he knows that on his screen it shows he got points shocking someone in that direction. I don't know if you need to worry about that yet.

Know when to use offerings, for example, luck increases the chance of getting better items in chests, unhooking yourself, getting rid of beartraps or reverse beartraps. Don't use luck offerings if you don't need them.

When using Borrowed Time it only works when there's a heart beat. When the killer is nearby. So Pig in crouch, Teir 1 Michael Myers, Wraith in Cloak/ in invisible mode, Ghost Face in his Night Shroud and The Spirit when she is in her ability. Those Killers won't have a heart beat.

Using David or Dead Hard the perk can negate almost all attacks at you, when used at the right time.

Look at the generators you are working on, if you only cover one side of the map the last three will be together, which means you are allowing gen camping for the killer at the last 2.

Hillbilly and Leather Face both use chainsaws. However, when Hillbilly uses his he can zoom across the map and only take down one person at a time. When Leather Face uses his chainsaw he swings it around him and can take down more than one survivor if you are near him.

I'll go ahead and tell you the most important tip: Learn to look over your shoulder while being chased.

You mean looking at the killer? like, literally turning your camera looking backwards? Cause I thought everyone did that...

Don't bother hiding unless you are at a safe spot, that's the only tip that's really worth it, getting tired of dumb stealth player dying in the middle of nowhere because they fought they were playing Skyrim with 100 sneak.

No...well the people i play with don't. They also use Dead Hard as a boost or get to somewhere a chest or gen faster.

    1. Not always and not recommended if hurt since you leave a trail.

    2. 360s only really work on lower ranks and doesn't help in the middle of no where. It's better to find a loop or a pallet.

    3. It's best to pick up multiple "styles" and be decent at all of them since you'll likely be doing them all

    4. You mean use his perks? Also for huntress avoid being out in the open and if you can, stealth is always preferred. You can hear her humming and she's very strong in chase.

    5. Also be aware of time. If everyone's on the opposite side of the map and you wait until last second, the person's going into struggle. Idealy someone will be heading over at the halfway point and it's really only an issue when everyone's going for the save or someone's there to farm the person.

    6. No, still unhook, otherwise you're leaving someone who possibly saved you to die.

    7. This is true for the most part. You can also hear stealth killer noises with your headphones.

    8. I agree with this. Only get ruin if it's nearby you 'cause there's likely someone else looking around for it.

    9. I think she can though if she holds it down long enough

    10. Omg, so I hate trying to stab people with Meyers and I go to stab where I think it'd hit and it's a total whiff 'cause I'm used to other killer dimensions.

    11. If they're too new to know about black locks, they probably shouldn't be messing with keys. Better to save them until you get a better understanding for the game imo.

    12. If you are only running into red ping, make sure to do stuff earlier than you think you'd need to (Such as throwing the pallet or vaulting).

For number 2 I really want to try this in red ranks, I'm currently green so...

I should've said this was for mic and headset, for number 6, I don't unhook if we can coordinate the rescue using me to keep fixing, and yes, if the gens are done, unhooking is a priority, no one should be left behind! LOL.

About 11, I played with two rank 4 yesterday, and they didn't know the key did that... I know... What?!

If you are downed, and someone comes up to heal you while they have a medkit, let them try it if you are hopelessly screwed otherwise.

I've had 7 people die today because I had an instaheal and they wouldn't let me heal them out of .......... I don't know spite maybe?

Here's a tip "stop running immediately at a nurse hooking people in the basement and if you escape leave, don't hang around bleeding and moaning all over the place"

If you’re slugged under a pallet and somebody is looping the killer around the same pallet, hold sprint while you recover so if the person needs to throw down the pallet they dont heal you.

OMG! This is actually helpful, reminds me of keeping the button to crouch when being unhooked by the hag's traps so that you don't trigger them as you land.

-Nobody thinks about the generators on the edges of the map at the lower ranks.

-Make sure the Killer is distant before unhooking someone.

-SWF is an unfair advantage with voice chat.

-Teabagging is a direct insult, so make sure you mean it.

Actually pay attention to what gens get done unless you like to be 3genned. It's generally a good idea to get central generators first, as it both opens the central structure (if there is one) for people to use in chases and immediately lowers the chance of getting 3genned.

It's also better to do riskier gens first. You know, the ones that have no pallets, windows or anything else near them. Statistically less likely the killer will come for you in particular, and they can be total death traps late game when pallets have been used, ESPECIALLY if part of a 3gen.

Any tips for what to do if I am always found first in all my games and no matter what I do, killer finds me and kills me? I am a decent runner as long as there is open space (as in, only Coldwind Farm and Macmillian Estate I realized I can juke the most in) but what now? I can never find pallets during most of my chases. How do I survive longer so I can finally rank up and not go more downhill in the ranking system?

Not many people use it, but when i have games like that. I run Windows of Opportunity so i can see pallets and windows to come up with where to go just in case i need to leave. I use Spine Chill so i know if a killed is heading my way to leave early. Quick and Quiet with Lithe to leave the area quickly. I haven't experienced that in a while though.

Gonna try to give some good tips without repeating what others were saying.

    1. Your first priority in learning how to run is learning how to loop. Know the amount of times you can run around a pallet without being hit.
    2. Windows exist and can be used in chases just like pallets. DO NOT throw down a pallet unless the killer is right behind you. Otherwise keep running or use a window. Pallets are essential and you need to save them for when you really need them.
    3. Don't be afraid to run. It leaves tracks, but the killer isn't running around actively searching for your tracks. Start out by only running outside of the terror radius. If you think he is following you, stop running and start walking.
    4. Hopping in a locker will normally end badly. Most killers will check lockers in the area if they can't find people leaving the gens. Lockers also make a lot of noise when you enter or exist.
    5. USE HEADPHONES! Can't stress this enough. When playing against a stealth killer such as Pig, Myers, Wraith or Ghostface you can hear their audio coming from a direction and can use that to avoid them. This could potentially save your life.
    6. Teabagging, Pointing at the killer and spamming your flashlight button are all intentional insults to the killer. It might seem like you are having harmless fun, but unless you are good at running and want the killer to follow you, avoid doing these things.

Now some ways to counter every killer in the game so far.

Trapper: Check the ground and watch where you walk. Crouch and walk slowly in the tall grass so you have a chance to see the prompt before you walk into the traps. Some will traps generators, but most will trap pallets and windows. Keep note of which pallets have bear traps at them. Don't run to those unless you have Dead Hard. Try to avoid windows since you don't know what is on the other side. Avoid the shack window, it will normally be trapped. Dead Hard's boost of immunity can get you over a bear trap on the ground which can cause the killer to have to look for a way around and help you get away, but this DOES NOT work on window vaults.

Wraith: Spine Chill will be your best friend since you will know when he is headed towards you. He makes noise while cloaked so if you don't have spine chill that directional sound I mentioned earlier can help. He has a build in speed boost when he first uncloaks so getting to a pallet or window should be your first priority when he uncloaks to come after you. He moves faster in his cloak and you will not have as much time as you think. A terror radius doesn't fade, if it does, it means he is cloaked. The "bing bong" of his bell indicates him entering and leaving cloak and can be heard map wide when he isn't using add-ons. Use this to your advantage.

Hillbilly: If the Hillbilly charges up his chainsaw, never panic. If you can't make it to a pallet or window, try to fake him out by running in one direction and switching to the other when he fully charges. Never run back at the Billy while using his chainsaw in an attempt to juke him. As someone who mains him, I can tell you it just gives him an easy hit with autolock and will cause you to go down. If he revs up his chainsaw at a pallet, keep looping. Do not drop the pallet. He will break it instantly and if you are new, you most likely will be late on the timing and he'll hit you through the pallet. If the sound of the chainsaw seems to be getting closer after he hooks someone, drop whatever you are doing and run. He most likely has BBQ and Chili and knows where you are. The exception is if you are on a generator. You might still be able to walk away in time.

Nurse: This is the most viable killer in the game and there isn't a lot of counterplay here. Her blinks will hit you if you run predictably. Try to make her think that you are running for something, and when out of her field of view (such as being behind a wall) run the other way. If you are by a locker when she blinks, hop in the locker, and exit when her fatigue hits. Note that you won't have much time, and this should only be done if you are confident it won't screw you over or you have no other choice.Only other tip I can think of is to not heal in hear terror radius. She most likely has Nurse's Calling and can see you healing if you choose to heal inside of her terror radius.

Hag: The Hag has a lot of potential for counter, but can also catch you really fast if you aren't careful. Her 10 traps that she can place are seen on the ground and emit kind of a weird glowing dust. You can crouch to avoid triggering these traps or use a flashlight to destroy them. If a trap is triggered, she is most likely going to teleport to it and you should run to make sure you are safe instead of sorry. When it comes to chases, you might be screwed, but don't let her get anymore info.

Doctor: The Doctor is an incredibly weak killer but new players tend to struggle since they don't know how to counter his power as well. You want to pop your first tier of madness immediately that way he can't find you with it later. After that, it takes a certain amount of time to reach the next tier. This can be paused by hopping in a locker, but be careful not to stay there too long or you might get crows. After madness tier one, you can not go back. After two you cannot return to one. The only tier yo can get out of is three and return back to two. You can however, reduce the amount of madness in your current tier by not performing actions (this includes working on generators. you can only walk, run, move in general). When in tier three, and not in a chase, your main priority should be bringing yourself back to tier two. Do not fool around. Your items do not work in tier three, so don't waste time trying to flashlight blind at a pallet. You also cannot perform tasks while in tier three so don't waste time trying. If the doctor shocks you, you can't throw down pallets or vault windows for a short time. Don't be caught off guard by this. Otherwise, if this still doesn't help you, try playing Jake and using Calm Spirit which causes your screams to be masked which means you won't reveal your position.

Michael Myers a.k.a the Shape: Michael is a unique killer and is incredibly stealthy while in his lower tiers. At tier one he is immune to detection perks and aura reading perks so don't rely on Spine Chill or Object of Obsession to find him or know if he is watching you. In tier one he is slower and has a reduced lunge, but his terror radius is also really small. Always be vigilant. Look around while working on generators. He can be detected using directional sound and his loud footsteps/heavy breathing. If you hear the tier up music and you weren't paying attention, give a quick glance to make sure it wasn't you he was stalking. When he hits tier two, he is pretty much a normal killer. But DO NOT feed him his tier three. If he starts stalking, break his line of site by crouching/running behind objects. When he hits tier three, he can one hit down ALL of you. At base this will last for one minute. If he hooks someone, and he camps, do not go for the save until he is out of tier three. Never play overly altruistic against a tier three Michael. If you happen to be the unlucky one being chased, try to waste as much of his time as possible while using the least amount of pallets possible. Do not test your luck with the loops in tier three. He has a long lunge. He can and will hit you though the pallets.

Huntress: This killer is a pretty straightforward counter. Never run in a straight line. Always strafe left to right, It is a 50/50 chance that she will miss. If possible, duck behind an object to make sure the hatchet won't hit you. The has five hatchets at base, keep this in mind and remember how many she has left so you won't be caught off guard while attempting to loop. Never throw a pallet down while she has hatchets left and is charging it up. Always throw the pallet down a bit earlier to make sure she won't hit you with the hatchet while you are doing so. Don't hop into lockers while playing against a Huntress. She resupplies her hatchets in lockers so there is a chance you could be found in a locker that she didn't even know you were in simply because she needed hatchets.

Leatherface a.k.a. The Cannibal: Leatherface's chainsaw is super sluggish at base, and unless he is right behind you, the chance of you outrunning it are pretty high. If you want to make sure you are safe, run to a pallet or window. If a pallet or window is not around, try running around and object. Sometime autolock will cause them to hit the object or they will hit it while turning to hit you and it will stun them giving you time to run. Only other tip I can think of is whenever he hooks someone, hop in a locker seconds before and when they are hooked, count to four seconds and continue with whatever you were doing. This will counter BBQ and Chili which he is most likely running since it is his perk.

Freddy Krueger a.k.a. The Nightmare: Freddy just got a rework, and if you play on PC I got no tips for him since I don't play on PC. Considering he is being reworked and the patch goes live for everyone in a bout two weeks, I'm gonna save me some time and skip his section.

Pig: Just like with Wraith and other stealth killers, Spine Chill is your friend. The roar means that she is about to dash and you should run. You can try to avoid the dash by getting to a pallet,. You might make it if you get lucky. Otherwise, be vigilant so you can leave before she can get the drop on you. If she puts a reverse bear trap on your head, it doesn't become a threat until a generator is popped so I recommend searching one or two boxes just in case and then going back to work o a gen. It will only insta-kill you in the doors if the timer is active. Hatch will not affect the timer.

Clown: Not gonna lie, I don't have much for this one. If his bottles are used correctly, he can get a hit off regardless. Similar to the Huntress, try to to run in obvious patterns. Don't expect loops that work on other killers to work on Clown. He will slow you and ultimately catch up.

Spirit: The best tip for playing against a Spirit is to listen for the passive phasing sound. This will tell you if she is actually phasing, or if she is trying to mind game and is just standing there. If you hear her phasing, assume that she is coming to your gen just in case and leave. If she didn't come towards you you can get on it afterwards. She can't see scratch marks while she is phasing so the best thing to do is to stop running and walk away. This will work in most cases, assuming the killer doesn't run into you (because she does still have collision) or they don't have their headset up at ma volume to hear your footsteps. Keep in mind this won't work if you're injured because you have groans of pain. If you are injured and she is phasing, get to a pallet window, or anything to save you from being hit.

Legion: Legion is pretty much useless in his current state. Deep wound is a joke. Just loop them until you go down or lose them. If they apply deep wound, do not mend until their terror radius is completely gone. Mend will not go down while you are within the terror radius. Use this time to work on gens. Once you mend, don't bother healing since they will just reapply deep wound. Focus on getting the gens done and getting out.

Plague: The Plague is the killer that is the easiest to counter. Simply don't cleanse yourself and she become an M1 killer. When you don't cleanse you remain injured, but if you can loop it won't matter If someone does cleanse (your will know because there is an audio indication) cleanse as fast as possible. You do not want to be one shot when she has a projectile that can inflict damage.

Ghostface: Like all other stealth killers, Spine Chill will be useful in helping you know when Ghostface is stalking you. Otherwise, keep a close eye out. You have to be the most vigilant with Ghostface, since he can lean around corners. Don't try to pull him out of stealth right away. Just break the line of sight so he can't expose you. If he does expose you. Try to find a safe loop where you can waste out that exposed effect. If you don't pay attention you will be caught with your pants down on a gen which will lead to a quick death that game.
