The Trapper conundrum

Trapper, you know , the killer referred to as the Trapper starts his games with like 2-3 traps and has to go collect his traps spread across the map.

however..

Hag and Freddy start the game with all their traps(8), don't have to go collect them from across the map and, I believe are faster to set.

so, yeah why does the Trapper have the worst trap based mechanics (subjective)

I agree with you that the trapper has it rough with having to collect his and a limited carry amount without add ons. also can his traps still be broken by toolboxes?

yeah, i dont know why they still didnt add that...

it would make him a lot bette!

it wouldnt fix all his problems of course, but it would definitely fix some of his time problems!

They should give him extra, but a trap completely immobilized them and puts them in dying state if played right, I do not 100% agree with him starting with all his traps.

Cause the traps he sets can instadown a survivor, whyle the hag uses them to teleport and Freddy to slow them down.... So...

That's a rare addon. The base effect is they become injured and are trapped, with unlimited chances to attempt escape until the Trapper arrives. If they are already injured, there is no cumulative-effect.

The hit-box is also so tiny that a survivor can get past it in a door-width of space one one side or the other if it's placed in the middle. It's even easier if it's off a bit to the side.

He epitomises the complaint that survivors must make mistakes above all else in order for the killer to win; it's not enough to simply play better than the survivors. Trapper has to play the odds, but survivors have garaunteed mitigations.

Can't really compare the traps between the three as they do very different things.

and right now on the PTR Freddy traps are garbage and the pallet replacement for them is 100x better

Starting with all his traps wouldn't change what the traps do so I don't think it would be overpowered. What it would help with is the early game in allowing him to have map pressure sooner.

How about if he starts a game with all his traps but after placing them all he can only hold one at a time without add ons?

Yeah that would be a nice change that would impact only the early game (where he struggles the most)

    Because he's old!

Trapper was the first Killer, and arguably the best before the meta crystallized and everyone know what they were doing.

But it's a new time, young Killers can trap up a storm, and Trapper's still that sad old man playing fetch while everyone rushes gens.

Still BS that he can step in own traps 🙄

I‘m also agreeing that he should start with all his traps at match start.

Also if you are injured and step into a trap, you should be in dying state

I think if nothing else changed, and you still have to hunt down your traps, then at least having an unlimited carry capacity would work wonders! If you’ve chased a survivor across the map and find you’re near an unused trap, it would be great to be able to just pick it up and carry it for later.

This would also fix the issue of resetting traps with a full inventory. Currently you’ve gotta place a trap somewhere, pick up the tripped one, put it back down, and then go back and get the one you originally placed just to keep carrying it. Such a time waster!

Removing this inventory limitation would really go a long way!
