I ran a MoM build for 50 games and this is how many times I got it to activate:
So I played 50 games with MoM, Empathy, Sprint Burst and Selfcare. The goal was to only run to the killer, take hits, and get MoM active before I die. Out of these 50 games I managed to activate it a total off 2 times. One of these times the killer had NOED so it didn't work. These games were played from rank 10 back to rank 1. I can safely say that I got the 2 buffs MoM needs to be able to activate:
1) Make it 2 hits instead of 3.
2) Fix the way the assist/safe hit works.
I managed to stand in between an Adam and the killer, mid chase, get hit and still not get a stack.
So BHVR if you got some spare time make that 3 into a 2 and MoM might be able to activate.

And remove the downside, since it's much harder to get now.

MoM was a doomed perk from the design phase, the pay off is just too strong to have it trigger so regularly. It can completely change a game. It should have never been made and I'll never understand how or why the Devs did it.
I wouldn't mind if they removed the aura reading but as it is now MoM is as balanced as it can be without being broken again.
If it were to be more easily triggered then you have to also look at the pay off and adjust things there too.

I hope the devs see this

Mom need a nerf but not like this, this isnt a perk right now, also that when trying to activate it and to be making unsafe rescues that benefit the killer, so in the game it always ends up losing and causing some games of #########

I would be fine with that buff. It would be nowhere near broken like before the rework and still reasonable. Maybe I would try that perk aswell with only 2 hits needed cuz as solo player it's really risky to get yourself 3 times injured just to get one more heal state later on
1 -
just make protection hits work more consistently
MoM doesn't need any other buff
6 -
You basically have to get hit on purpose 3 times just to get one extra hit and then get revealed forever after that
They should at least remove the weakness since it is way harder and more costly to get now
5 -
MoM as it was should never have been added go the game imo.
Personally I would rather they just rework the entire perk and make it something else at this stage as it's not worth using at all unless your playing SWF.

You need to let the killer attack you while they are carrying a survivor, or else you won't reliably earn tokens, period. I used Empathy to help me know when a survivor was about to go down, and it helped get ready to body block many times.

I agree. I said it should be 2 hits since they announced the change AND that they need to fix how protection hits are calculated by the game.
MOM needed a nerf but as it stands its completely worthless right now.

Yes to #2. 😊

Let the perk die off

I like new MoM, they should only fix the protection hit detection because sometimes it simply refuses to activate

I played 15 games before I gave up, I got all 3 stacks once but you know, NOED.
This thread explains perfectly what's wrong with it, 2 stacks is good enough and fix the damn Protection Hits Score, it is much more difficult to get than it sounds.

i dont understand people who say that MoM was so strong and game breaking that it should never made it into the game. there are far stronger things in this game like Moris, insta heals etc. and they are also in this game. It shouldnt be able to activated every round, but as it is right now, its just a joke. its redicilous how the devs can destroy a perk just because some people cried about it. nerf it, fine. but dont make it totally useless..
7 -
i see no problem, perk shouldn't have been put in the game in the first place
keep it unusable
1 -
Wait,I thought that new MoM ignored any attack that would put you in the dying state even if you're healthy (?)

They put the cart before the horse.
Protection Hits (Or what is considered a protection hit) needs to be changed. Some hits that should be considered "Protection Hits", don't even count. You literally have to behind the other survivors behind to take a hit when they are being chased. Or else you're just limited to taking a hit while they are being carried.

Yep, just another totally useless shelved Survivor perk because Killers /cried and got it nerfed into extinction. Nothing new there.
5 -
I agree that it's hard to get 3 tokens, but 2 tokens would be too easy and make this perk unbalanced again.
MoM should just get reworked into a completely different perk.
1 -
If they don’t want to rework it, then these 3 things need to happen to at least make it somewhat usable :
- fix protection hits
- remove the aura downside
- return the idea of it working in either healthy or injured state
If you giving yourself up for 3 extra hits, you at least earned the right to have instadown protection. Otherwise it just makes no sense whatsoever.

I never played the ptb where unhooks counted towards tokens, but it didn't seem like it would be that powerful. Hell, it actually seemed like it would be killer sided if you knew a bunch of people were going to hook rush in order to get their precious tokens for MoM back when it was a must have perk. I still don't see why that was considered too easy to make it into the game. It's the one time I wish I played during the ptb to see what was so problematic about it.
1 -
I vote they just rework the perk entirely or keep it the way it is, making it 2 hits would just make it obnoxious again imo. As long as it's not like old MoM which just rewarded survivors failures to not get hit, it's really annoying when you get perks that reward bad plays.
0 -
Not sure if it was intended or not, but that only stayed on the PTB for it. It was removed along the safe unhooks condition.

I wouldn't mind 2 protection hits if the aura reading downside took effect immediately after soaking a hit.
0 -
@NMCKE I'm not sure about that. If it would need only 2 protection hits, then yes, immediate aura reveal which should also last until the end of the trial should be a requirement.
However, I'd still prefer a complete rework.
0 -
How would you rework the perk?
Also, I'm happy to see that we can agree on a MoM buff! 😊
2 -
@TKTK "coughNOEDcough"
1 -
@NMCKE Completely different mechanic: A Borrowed Time for yourself. If you get unhooked in the killer's terror radius and the killer hits you within 15 seconds, you only get Deep Wound status. A perk to protect yourself and something nice especially for solo players.
0 -
@Heroiq Not a good idea, that would be too easy for a perk as powerful as MoM. You get safe unhooks easily as long as the killer doesn't hard camp.
0 -
I think the downside should stay, because it reminds to the first movies where this 'evil presence' was a thread that hunted Ash the whole movie and knew where he went. Its matched so well with him.
There are many posibilities to rework the perk, this token change is of course necessary. But rework the perk may would be prevent that it become like the old version.
Adding exhaustion, or the broken status in addition to the viewable aura for a bigger punishment.
At all it definitly needs a rework, 3 protection are too much, lower it to 2 token or still with 3 token but adding safe unhooks as condition, would be fair.

@NoShinyPony I’ve wanted it to be a self BT since people wanted it changed:
1 -
@Heroiq I often play solo surv, and I often equip WGLF. I know how many stacks I get for this perk without even putting focus on the stacks. And now imagine I WOULD put focus on getting stacks...
And of course the extra hit is super powerful. Otherwise there never would have been the need to change the old MoM in the first place.

@GrootDude Nice! I've also made this suggestion in several threads. I see no reason why there shouldn't be self-BT.
