Everything was better before!?
Graphics:
The atmosphere in 2016 was so nice. The graphics where really awesome, it fitted the horror genre and was perfect for DbD. The lighting was really good. Compared to now I definelty can not say it's an improvement but more like a downgrade.
Also, you remember how the old pallets where looking like? It was really unique and miss the vibrant colour of them, I wish they will change it back. Here an example:
Or the way how the perks where looking. U remember the old ultra rare perk colour? It was so good looking to have these colours I'm your right bottom corner. I wish devs at least give us steam workshop for custom perk icons.
Old animation:
I personally loved the old animation. If it's the funny way how survivors where running, the brutal way of killer pulling you back from a slow vault or the realistic powerful feeling of breaking pallets. The pink perk's being removed was caused by an error in sorting and picking rarity, and since colors are automatically determined by rarity, when the perks rarity was dropped to make them easier to obtain, the colors were automatically changed by the game itself.

I have to agree with the lighting. It is so bright and garish now; very lacking on atmosphere.
The old lighting was brilliantly creepy and atmospheric.
Unfortunately it all seemed to get disgustingly bright when they "fixed it" some while back

the graphics look the same to me , only thing id bring back are those pallet desings and even add new ones

I agree that the game did look better before. However you has to agree the game back then was very different. For example The game was often a lot darker and maps had a lot more clutter, making Blendettes alot more viable, but I will agree that it looked more creepy and horror like. Also while I didn't play back then, I did see the old grab animation on a video from the early Alpha, and It would make so much more sense to add that to the game now, it was just some brutal and savage, that it would only make sense that a killer would that. But at the same time Ds was op, Sprintburst was op, and Killers like the Hag were just low tier. The Game looked better back then, however the playstyles were often terrible and abused to hell.
Also does anyone remember when Claudette was white and Meg was black? Because I think that shocked me the most when I saw gameplay of the Alpha.

The old lighting was hard on my eyes, especially on the darker maps such as Shelter Woods. I much prefer the game as a test of ability (tracking survivors and chasing them down) rather than if my eyes are good enough to see someone crouching in the shadows (spoiler alert: I wear glasses, so my eyes are not that good). I much prefer the new atmosphere, even if it took a while to get used to.

Can't say I've thought much about it, playing on low settings as I do.
Though diversifying pallets would be nice.

AHEM

What has this to do with my discussion? Nowhere I mentioned balance.

They more than likely refer to your title not fitting one bit.

Agree I never played back in 2016 but seeing the comparison video back then it looked so much better. What happened?

2 big engine updates happened. Since then devs weren't able to restore the awesome atmospheric graphics and couldn't fix the sound issues.

Everything was better before Legion's chapter

I agree, the atmosphere of the old version of the game was so much better. The lamps, streetlights and moonlight were contrasted against the darkness of the surrounding environment which created a beautiful visual. It was dark, gloomy, and atmospheric.
Now it looks more like an arcade type game which cartoony graphics.

Enter in my survey if you haven't already!
ALSO! I agree completely with the pallet breaking animation. Now it feels like the killers have slappy noodle legs but before they were firm and the breaking animation felt strong. Same with the old M1 attack animation, it felt brutal.

The old pallets did look good. Wish they'd spice up variety.

I definitely miss the old lighting... but I would assume it was that lighting that caused a lot of resource drain on systems...

I had 2016 more fps than now lol.

The graphics and whole aesthetic of the game was much nicer way back when. Autohaven with its creepy blue tinge, the darkness of Macmillan. Really, the only way that the modern version is better is that some things were hard to see before. Prestiged characters like Dwight hid really well, and Claudette was actually ridiculous back then, far worse than the "Blendettes" we have now. Otherwise though, it's a shame it's gone.

The lighting should be similar to this, maybe a bit lighter but the atmosphere in Dead By Daylight categorized as "Horror" really doesn't reflect the gameplay. Sure, the storyline and the whole deal around the game is great and horrifying, but the atmosphere is dry and lackluster. Maybe consider suggesting something like this?

@HeyItsNick123andnea I totally agree with this(also hey yay the forums are fixed it seems). The darkness in that bug is so perfect. I'd love to get that bug but I haven't yet.

idk why youre bringing the old playstyles and old perks up because were talking about visuals and animations but pop off ig 🤷♀️

Then people should start learning to read the whole post and not just the title. The title is never represent the whole post.
0 -
Then you should write better titles. If you say "Everything was better before!?" (by the way, check Betteridge's law of headlines), don't be surprised when people point out that was not the case, at all.

My title is good, it's a known saying and everyone interested can read the post or move on. No rocketscience here.
Also, my point still stands. Reading just headlines and commenting without reading the whole post is lazy.

They probably should.
I'm also very sure you saw this coming when you made the title.

The old animations maybe looked cool, but they took a lot of time compared to animations these days.
1 -
Would be no problem to speed them up imo

Then it would feel really weird (see Legions Pallet Vaulting animation rn)

I can't remember which patch but one of them sped up the default killer pallet breaking speed, which is what you've noticed
