Devotion Needs A Reward!
Someone already made a post similar to this here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/75623/the-shard-grind#latest but I figured that I would focus on something more specific. Devotion is currently a joke. All it does is reset your level back to one and your shard gain back to the beginning when you hit level 100. What do you get in return? Why you get a tiny green number that serves no purpose other than to show players "Look, I've been playing long enough to hit devotion (insert devotion level here)". Getting to level 100 takes a good bit of time and a lot of matches played and players should at least be rewarded for it. You should receive a large amount of shards for each devotion level and it should increase each time you hit a new devotion level. What it would start at and how much it would increase by can be discussed.

They said something of rank rewards and maybe that with the update that brings the grind if I remember the name correctly

Hopefully. It needs to be fixed

If they're tracking it, I assume, in good faith, that rewards will be given retroactively.
And I'll be truly disappointed if I'm wrong.

You won't be the only one. I think the entire community will be disappointed if you're wrong.

Hopefully they rework the way you level up devotion too. Right now it's based on time spent in a mach rather than anything gameplay related. As a killer, I can sacrifice all 4 players in under 10 min and will only receive a little over 300 devotion progression. Same as survivor if you or your team manage to finish your objective and escape the trial fast. I think it should be more based on the points that you earn in-game.

Agreed. And considering they are going to give survivors more points it would work well if it went off of points instead of time.

This will probably happen next year when they do the rank changes.

Is it actually next year!? Or was this a joke? I don't pay that much attention to release dates.

@Crazewtboy Nothing related to rank or devotion is happening until Mid Chapter 14 according to the roadmap.
We get a Chapter every 3 months.
Ghost Face was 12 we are about to get Mid Chapter 12 with Freddy/Badham.
6 -8 weeks after that a new chapter(13) and so on.
So January/February at best.
Thats the roadmap Ranking stuff spans from late January/Early February to June.

Thanks. I watched the stream but never bothered to do the calculations. That sucks. If they do end up giving rewards for devotion, I hope all devotion levels earned before the reward was implemented will also be compensated.

Maybe I should just hang the game up for another year. It seems a little better each time I come back, but never progresses by any increments I can actually see.
Sure glad they're making more stuff they can sell instead of making the game better, though. Always a good sign.
1 -
Can honestly say that I have taken breaks in all different increments before because of this. I spend anywhere from days to weeks to months away from the game and always come back thinking something will change. The first wee that seems fine, but after that I realized that nothing changed or things were made worse. Especially with the toxicity in the community. But that is another post.

I still like the idea of every devotion level adds 100K onto the max points you can hold + maybe a small permanent boost at end game, maybe .5% every devotion level, meaning at devotion level 10 you'd have 5% more bloodpoints every match, it isn't a lot but it's a nice enough reward if you play a lot.
2 -
While I do think that you should be able to hold more bloodpoints, I think the solution to that would be just remove the cap all together like they did with the shards. But I don't think the community would accept that as a reward. Most people want shards as a devotion reward so they can buy outfits.
1 -
I don't think they want to remove the cap because it's a pretty safe way to catch blood point hackers.
Anyone going over 1Mil who hasn't been reimbursed points is a sure-fire ban.
Removing the cap makes it very easy to get around that and just ebony mori/insta heal every match you go into.
I don't see anything else they can give us besides shards but you earn them as you go so is it really a reward?
1 -
That's a really good point. I never thought about the opportunities that would open to hackers. Shards would still be a reward because all the shards you get while leveling don't amount to much. It's honestly a joke. You'll be lucky if you can get one very rare (purple) outfit with the shards given to you in those 100 levels. I say start off with a 5,000 shard bonus and then increase it by 5,000 every 5 (maybe 10, but honestly I can't see anyone having the time to hit a devotion higher than 10) devotion levels. The main problem is that it doesn't reward anything for the effort put in and that the shard pay off within the 100 levels doesn't get you far. People who want to buy cosmetics with shards feel that it is almost impossible with how low the payouts are and shards as a devotion reward would greatly boost that.
1 -
Hell, with all the outfits they constantly release, it probably wouldn't kill them to let you get one free purple outfit on any one character you want every devotion level

I've been saying since the week it launched. Devotion is utterly pointless and whoever put it out in it's current state is an idiot. It does literally nothing but give us currency that we were already getting in the post game anyway. It offers no rewards, we can't display it, and we can't benefit from it in any way. With the upcoming archive and battle pass I don't see them ever doing anything to not make it a worthless addition.
1 -
"It does nothing but give us currency" unfortunately it doesn't do that and that is the problem. All you get is the shards from going through the levels to get to devotion. Like you said though, you can't even display it! Although that might be for the best as it would just give killers another excuse to dodge.

I was just talking about the shards. And the devotion level could be optional or just shown in post game lobbies. It's just a stupidly lazy system that doesn't really serve a purpose. They could have just adjusted the amount of shards that were gained in the post lobby or increased the prices of items to compensate for the difference in shard gaining from the post games lobbies. It's entirely pointless to have devotion
1 -
Increase or decrease??
0 -
I hope they don't add a devotion reward. At least not for current devotion levels.
I take breaks too often i'm devotion 4 i'd be much higher if there was an actual reward. Adding one later would be punishing if it counts old levels.
0 -
To be fair, the shard gain may be lower, but you also level quicker, so it's the same shards/time.
0 -
Increase. Prior to the devotion system people would get shards at the end of each game. With the new system you only get them when leveling. Idk what the difference in currency by the number of games played would be. I'm not sure if 10 games (pretend the person had a single pip each of the 10 games) would get you more shards with the new or old system. The increase would only be to compensate for the change if the old system would have netted more shards per 10 games than now.

What exactly tracking? Your playerlevel? Well that doesn't need tracking cuz it's there. Rank is a different thing. I doubt they are tracking it. They had never a reason for besides the achievements.

During the AMA they said they want to add devotion rewards at some point but knowing how slow BHVR is, we probably won’t see anything for at least a year or so.

The thing is tho, these 5% bonus is more needed for new players (devotion 0) than us who unlocked pretty much everything. But better than nothing I guess.
0 -
This doesn't make sense at all. It's totally up to you not play. It would be as saying "no why did people got legacy?? I would have played more and prestiged. So no, no legacy for others"
Your fault mate.
0 -
Considering they're cutting the grind next patch the 5% bonus is a bad suggestion now anyway.
Maybe a .5% increase of shards for every devotion level or something, something subtle but will rack up for people who play a lot.
1 -
This will snowball out of control for players who play a lot eventually. There will be less and less skins to be bought with shards to make up for that
Then again there are already too few skins to buy with shards

Did they confirmed the grind cut off for next patch?
