Keys are way too common

As the title suggests, the spawn rate of keys needs to be reduced a tad, all too often a key is found for something that should be rare in my honest opinion.

    If they do this then they need to hit the Ruin & PGTW combo because together it makes it hard to finish all 5 gens.


    Seems like every Freddy in red rank are using these 2 perks together and no one can do anything.

    Can't confirm that. Had several Hatchgames against a Freddy, and looked into several chests, never found a key.

    @Pizzaman Key rates has been slightly increased some time ago and increased a lot when running plunderer's instinct (more than perk alone used to do). This is fact.

    I don't really like that having a key is 99% assured escape. Even if killer closes the hatch he cannot stop survivor from opening back the hatch. Even with franklins survivor has more than enough time to pick up the item and yeet through the hatch which is very unhealthy mechanic. That's why i never bring the keys in (unless im drunk playing with friends) and collected like 100 of them by now. Same goes for instahatchets, i have plenty of them, only used some where rumor about their nerf spread out. Playing with key is like bringing Haddonfield offering and 4 balanced landings. Unless its god tier Trapper or Nurse its already won. What fun even is in guaranteed win?

    I think we need hatch grabs to be possible again, even with slightly shorter window than before so both sides risk a lot.

    Stunning killer and then jumping in using the key - spicy play

    Braindead running towards the hatch because killer can literally do nothing if survivor knows where it is - bad anti-immersive design.

    I don't rememember having seen any official statement or statistics lately on the key spawn rate. I might have missed it. You do have a link to it by any chance?

    @Pizzaman it was first or second patch after EGC if i remember correctly. I was editing post when you replied, oof.

    @TRB124 Well, having requirement of 2 gens done was reasonable and left behind was ok perk then, but thing is, with hatch not even spawned most ppl just instantly gave up. Its more fun if both sides try till the very end. That's why i think hatch should spawn on last survivor but keys need nerf. Rework left behind aswell kek.

    Remove Broken and Dull keys.

    Remove Map. Change Rainbow Map to Map and make it a purple item. Adjust add-ons that allow the map to track certain things, make them do something else IDK what.

    Buff Odd Bulb (or remove the charge penalty).

    Change BNP to just greatly increase repair speed at the cost of using more charges (the whole 2 skill checks thing is dumb anyway).

    Reduce the overall chances of pink items in survivor blood webs.

    Problems solved.

    @Star99er If you ask me they can remove ruin all together, its a ######### perk that doesn't do its job when needed anyway. Corrupt or Thrilling are way better :).

    I'm also into more fleshlights, survivors just hinder themselves using them most of the times, but its possible to make fun plays with those.

    Funny, today there was a GF who let us escape cause we rushed pretty fast, so before leaving we were getting hooked and healed, then I wanted to escape with 1 item so I found a chest and found a green key.... Meh. So I went in the basement and found a PURPLE key!

    Then I wrote to all survivors to escape through hatch, we found it, opened and we got the "Where did they go?!" thropy!!

    Keys are badly designed just like Moriis are badly designed. They literally remove gameplay.

    You shouldn't be able to find keys in chests and also opening the hatch with a key should take 5 seconds, so you can't open the hatch in front of the killer without him being able to do anything.

    It's not that they are common.

    After enough hours in the game you have crapton of items and offerings anyway.

    I have hundreds of ebony mories on my killers simply because I spent a lot of points on them.

    The reason for Survivors finding more keys in chests now is because during the last winter event, both sides saw an increase in the drop rate of high rarity items in the mystery boxes and chests. After it was over, Survivors got to keep that increased drop rate for chests and Killers got left in the dust. We’ve just been experiencing the effects of this change.

    Ruin can be deactivated and PGTW punishes gen tapping after rescuing from a hook. Those things are common for most killers, not just Freddy.

    Yes! I can't tell you how many 4ks have been stopped by random keys they don't deserve.
