Best strategies against Ruin

1° Bring a map to read totems.

2° Practice and learn to land perfect skillchecks.

3° Just tap progressively on the generator letting go instantly, it repairs it practically at the same speed as if you weren't (press repair button and instantly let go, repeat).

4° If it's the Hag you're playing against try to find her as soon as the match starts, they usually go and trap the Hex Totem.

Hope this helps someone. Any other tips you'd like to add?

Gen tapping is bad. The generator will take a lot more time. Is better to just get good skillchecks than gentapping.

Most killers like to go near their hex totems as soon as the match start. Keep always an eye for it

@xnes_galax Yep, I believe the same, that's why gen tapping is beneath learning to do skillchecks.

When I play killer I usually stay away from the totems for survivors not to know where they are, but also sometimes play Haunted Ground for them to be scared of cleansing.

Or just learn the totem spot or use small game..

^ just power through it, let go while it's sparking and start again once Sparks go away. It will also help you get hex skill checks since you'll get tons of practice.

If your lucky and get 60fps skillchecks, all it's really gonna come down to now is quick reaction time.

No Mither, Resilience, This Is Not Happening and Technician and get down with those great skillchecks!

Honestly Ruin is so prevalent I'm curious why people don't run Detective's Hunch. It gives more info than Small Game imo(know exactly where nearby totems are, can get lucky and find multiple). Unless they don't intend to do gens anyways.

I usually try to do ruin gens by myself. Once did a gen to about 90% and 2 survivors joined me and they sparked it 4 times in a row. Lost so much progress.

I'd say practice on your own gen - I seem to get great skills check when I'm on my own than when I'm with someone else. Maybe it's the pressure? Lol. But don't be scared to keep doing the gen.

People often run around looking for the totem in the time they could have completed 1 - 2 gens... Or they never find it cause it's hidden too well. 😅

i always hit hex skill checks so the ruin doesn't even exist to me anymore. but the problem in solo is usually that others can't do gens with ruin

Most killers run right to ruin so start looking in the direction they come from. They may even proxy camp the area of the totem don't die for it. Work through it and finish gens put the pressure back on them.

One helpful tip, if you're doing a ruin gen with someone and they fail a hex skill check you do this...

It is proper etiquette to stop what you're doing and stare at them. Then shake your head no. And if you fail a skill check, do two 360s and run away in shame.

Gen tapping isn't a great idea and doesn't help improve skill checks. Also there is a perk that can negate hex perks of you look hard enough. I think it's with Adam.

Usually when I play with survivor mains who have thousands of hours, Ruin is gone within 30-40 seconds.

Do skill check success zones always come up on the same few spots or are they random?
