The new 'Wonderful' ranking system implemented in DBD

So, I really didn't want to bring this to a ######### forum, but no choice after all. I want to ask the developers themselves (or their mods if they are actually too 'busy' to answer themselves) if they are satisfied with the current state of the ranking system. All good? Well it is not, starting with deranking when the killers disconnects, to the point that even if you do a 'pretty good job' during the game you still get a 0 progression to your rank. This is stupid, before they implemented their new ranking algorithm when the killer disconnected from the game you would not lose rank progress, it was easier to rank up during a normal game (this new algorithm should make the ranking up even easier but it doesnt IT IS BROKEN). Not like it matters, because they dont even offer something for ranking up (at the 3rd anniversary live we were promised rank rewards but that doesnt matter) All I want is that the developers will actually fix the ranking system before talking about rank rewards. I love this game, I have 1.2k hours in it but this current state of the game is really annoying and I really hope they are gonna fix it.

PS: You really do a good job but there are still some BIG problems to be solved (ranks,hitboxes,lagswitching etc.) I hope you have a good day, see you in the fog

    First of all, I like the new Ranking System. However, I would like to have two things implemented:

    First of all, when one player Disconnects during the game, ALL other players should at least get a Blackpip. This goes for Survivor DCs and Killer DCs, no player should be punished for some idiot disconnecting, because he is salty because he got genrushed or because he got found first.

    Second, I would like to have a "leftover category" where all the progress is added up that was "too much" for the emblems. Like when only a tiny bit is missing to an Iridescent Emblem, it is count as gold. ALL the progress above gold is not counted at all. So I would like to have a fifths category, where all of this is counted together and then Points (if any are reached) are awarded. Maybe up to two Bonus points.

    With the advent of dedicated servers things within the matchmaking system might change - right now I personally don't have a problem with where's it at. Most of the matches I am in Ranks are roughly within 4/5 ranks of each other which isn't too bad.

    Things like lagswitching are reportable and if you have issues with someone lagswitching in your game OP please report it with video evidence we will be happy to take a look at.

    And in answer to your point about the developers being busy - yes they are, that's why we have a community team so that a forum such as this exists.

    @Angelicus23 if you've reported another player you won't receive a response - it's between the player in question and BHVR, we don't give updates on reports.

    The keyword here is 'might', which has as much weight as 'might not'.

    Its a very bad system, i don't know why they changed it like why make it harder if you don't put any rewards for rank 1, not the first and not the last time bhvr makes stupid mistakes.

    The fact that you 4k and you barely safe pip, to me that is insane, i don't care how you 4k, how fast/slow/good/bad you played if you 4k'd you should pip i don't care how you played.

    Same for survivor if you escape you should pip, i don't care how you escaped/played.

    @switch thank you, this confirms me that I am not actually insane, the ranking system really has a problem and, again, devs should fix it first before they start talking about rewards. I put my hope into them, and if they dont fix it I am just gonna be dissapointed (can't do anything else besides that except quitting the game eventually)

    Absolutely disagree. I don't think a killer who slugs everyone and hooks them once and they all die deserves a pip. I don't think a survivor who got carried to the end of the game and barely helped should pip. Pips should be based on skill and none of those things requires skill.

    I do agree with the fact that there should be actual rewards so that ranking up doesn't feel like a punishment. There's a reason people de-rank on purpose.

    Why sit at rank 1 with long queue times and try hards on both sides when you can sit around rank 10, have much shorter queue times, and have much easier matches? Once you've already gotten the achievement, there's no positive for sitting at rank 1 at all. Higher ranks deserve higher rewards. Bring back iridescent shards after EVERY match, not just when you level up (which also means absolutely nothing and let's not even get into how there's no rewards for prestiging). Hell, even like 50 Auric cells per rank reset for reaching rank 1 would be nice.

    Having it actually be difficult to rank up is a good thing. It was way too easy to rank up before allowing people of poor skill to end up in high ranks. There's far closer a semblance to balance than there was in the old system. It really should only be a problem for people who want being high rank to be easy for them.

    I don't think the current ranking system actually weight player skill, instead it only measure at best the time played in a month.

    Sometimes, when I don't work and have time to play, I reach rank 1 with no problems. Other times I don't have such time (for ex. periods when I can do only 1-2 games per day at best), and I'm stuck around low ranks (usually between rank 15 to 10): at these ranks sometimes I find some skilled players like the ones I find in red ranks, other times I find a mixture of new and veteran players, and the game experience in ruined for everybody (too easy or too hard depending on the role). I really hate these ranks because I don't know how to play, simply because I find people with over 2.000 hours put together with people with 20 hours.

    All this is caused by the fact the actual ranking system is based on no-sense scores, which rarely meet the actual player performance in a match. It promotes only fooling around and trolling people with a bit of brain, nothing else.

    Because this ranking system is so lackluster, matchmaking side it's better to put people together based by the weighed average time played in the last 12 months, and create 20 ranks based on that. Then give the illusion of a ranking system, introducing leaderboards, with various stats: people with most kills/escapes, object founds, mories, chase time, chases won, chases lost, time spent healing, hex totems destroyed, time spent near a hook without other survivors around, etc. etc. ... so everyone can compare with each other. Maybe introducing various mini objectives like "if you break 20 totems, then you have XXX bloodpoints" etc etc.

    I really don't understand why this horrible pip system is still a thing, and why some people gives so much importance to a thing that really doesn't measure nothing.

    2019, when people still care about pips and ranks. The current emblem system is not perfect at all but it's far more better than before where you already pipped for literally doing nothing the whole match.

    Interesting so basically outskilling the survivor isn't enough to rank, i guess people like you designe this system, either way this thinghy they call emblem system or whatever didn't do jack #########, i still see survivors which literally are braindead at rank 1, i see killers that have no idea what is safe and what is not are at rank 1.

    I don't care how good the survivors are if i killed them all that means they are not as good so the killer should pip, stop this bullshit with slugging and 3 hooking someone, dude the game is soo rushed with this meta it lasts like 6 mins stop this crap with 3 hooking every survivor.

    It simply requires more time to reach the top ... that's it. So people who have time can reach rank 1, people who don't can't reach it. Before at least even people who didn't have so much time to play could reach that rank. And every month the same story. So if you don't play often, you mostly like have boring games .... great!

    I would argue that a lot of people don't care about ranks and pips because the system is not great, and doesn't incentivize anyone to care about ranks and pips. The current emblem system may be comparatively better than what came before it, but it's still a hot mess.
