The day I got hex:ruin.....
Stuck at rank 12 as a P3 huntress and P3 leatherface..... (roughly 300 hours played)
The day I played hag with ruin, rank 6, almost to 5....
Switched back to LF to unlock ruin on him ..... back to rank 8 (thus far, I lose a lot).
Correlation does not always equal causation but in this case I am starting to wonder??!!

Hag is also a roundly better killer than either of those two.

Ruin is worse, the higher you get in Ranks. Survivor start to hit Skill Checks better and find the perk faster.
Killers with much map pressure can actually play with Ruin for a long time (depending on map and totem spawn ofc).
As long as your above Rank 5, Ruin is a quiet good perk to pick.

Chances are high that Ruin will help you even in high ranks. Sure, red rank players are handling Ruin better, but you will notice the difference between having and not having Ruin equipped.

OP is not playing Nurse but one of the weakest killers in the game. To be fair, he won't stand a chance against good groups even with Ruin. And that's not because of his skills but because of the current state of the game.

The "skillz" in this game are a bit arbitrary. After so long its just muscle memory. You pick up how to moonwalk, you know basically where the survivors are going to run to, you realize which perks are optimal for both sides.
Sometimes I make the right call and have great games and sometimes things fall a part and I play like hot garbage.
At the end of the day, LF still has to haul his little butt across the map and my hag is teleporting around sowing chaos, using ruin, and terrorizing folks.

Ruin does not carry bad killers. It's just a necessary perk against good groups. The only exception might be when you play Nurse. OP is playing Leatherface, a killer with whom he won't stand a chance against groups even if he is using Ruin.
Also good groups don't have to be SWF teams but I like that you relativised your statement from before.

Leatherface can do good if the player is good with him, although you’ll need add ons and a proper perk set.

You can be a good player with Leatherface and run a good perk- and add-on setup, yet you are still going to lose if you are up against a decent team that doesn't make some big mistakes. That's just the current state of the game.
If you are facing a team that doesn't play that well, you can win with every killer, and that includes Leatherface of course.

True, not saying LF is the best killer or even high tier but in my experience he is heavily underrated but without add ons he is useless.

Just don't play LF at high ranks? Huntress should be enough for you or Hillbilly if you want to chainsaw people.
Look, I have only 40hrs in game so far and by maining Legion (which is one of the worst killers in game) I managed to get to rank 8 without much of a problem.
But I had to take a break from him to farm BBQ&Chilli and as LF I stuck at 12 rank just to rank up to 10 as Nurse (farming Thana and Nurse Calling) and then coming back to Legion. There is a reason LF is often in D rank in most of killer ranking lists.

The hag is the best killer for using ruin (in fact it's one of her perks), you can put 3 traps near the totem and usually the two or first trys for cleansing it result in a trap triggered and and your surprise spawn, hehe.

I see the problem, you went from Hag, a decent Killer, to Leatherface, a killer who is considered one of the worst (next to Legion). LF will have more trouble in higher ranks because more survivors will know how to counter him.
