I wanna see a match between a dev vs a 4 man swf
Has it been done? Little salty right now over my previous match as such. Want to see if a dev has done it, and their take on it, instead of just 'crunching the numbers. Without playing as the top three. I'd love to see an that in action on their part.

You can’t play killer without four survivors though. :P
Some of them have twitch accounts if you’re curious.

There. Modified the title to be clearer.

This is the best up to date match ever. ;)
4 -
Watched the most recent otz video today (the four metaperks of the apocalypse), and man they didn't even bring instaheals or flashlights and it's just not even feasible for one of the top killers in the game if they don't snowball HARD early on

The video would have been better without the overdramatic commentary they give.

We need an updated version!

Someone get mathieu back at a game station and fire up the Thot Patrol, we need entert- answers, we need answers

Good Devs aren't good at their own games, almost every game has a community that far surpasses the skill the developers ever will have.
Looking at the statistics and numbers is far more important to devs than being able to compete at rank 1.
7 -
Community: "Please fix matchmaking! Why should Rank 20-15 have to face off against Rank 5-1?? Why is this even a thing??"
Also Community: "We want to watch a developer around Rank 20-15 face off against Rank 1 SWFs."

Hideo Kojima can do a 48-hit combo with a flawless victory and fatality in MGS2 and the game doesn't even have that stuff in.
The 'Sid' difficulty in all Civilization games is named after creator Sid Meier as it's the difficulty he himself plays at.
The reason why Link is an expert at the sword, the bow, magic, any musical instrument, sailing and horse-riding the moment he first touches them is this reflects Shigeru Miyamoto's own experience of reality.
Gabe Newell had 2k hours on DOTA2 before it had even been released. He can jungle/carry with IO, whilst also being the courier for the team.
As for the devs setting any kind of store in data: we have yet to see them produce any useful statistics from it rather than mislead people with them.

Every meme with Thanos is a good meme. Too bad he's dead.

I suppose you also want a race car engineer to compete in F1 races...
3 -
You have to feel bad for Mathieu he is probably one of the most optimistic people on the team. Yet, people like to see him suffer.
3 -
An engineer doesn't need to know how the whole of the car works, just how it fits together. The people actually designing it will include engineers, scientists and experienced drivers, all of whom have a competent level of understanding of the others disciplines they are not specialists in.
The frustration that is often expressed is that the devs collectively do not seem to grasp how their game works. Whilst there is more dialogue between players and developers than with most games, the quality of it is very poor.
2 -
It's the same exact thing just with a different context. There are multiple people behind the project and only the final user is the one supposed to use it to its fullest.
4 -
Which should mean two things matter a lot:
- The end-user feedback is extremely important
- It's a two-way street; they require information from us and should respect it
How they respect it is by having clear and consistent standards for collecting and appraising it. They don't get to pick and choose what they want to hear. They also need to provide end-users with much more information, so we can better understand their design intentions and shape our feedback based on it.
None of this happens though.
6 -
First off, you're going off topic.
Second, that isn't true. Just the recent nerf to MoM proves the contrary, they basically killed the perk by following our feedback and ideas.
0 -
Whats up you want them to get the same salty reaction you did? Lol
1 -
Really? Who asked for the specific change that happened to MoM? People arguing against something does not imply they are in favour of it's exact opposite and it should never be interpreted as such. MoM had to change, but who asked for the change that was implemented? Have the devs explained why they chose it?
1 -
Many people suggested that exact change on this very forum.
5 -
Can you link a thread where it is discussed? I'm trying to establish how the devs determine what feedback is worth listening to and what feedback isn't, because they sure as hell don't tell us their method.
1 -
This isn't about catering to anyone: it's about the relationship between them and their audience being governed by standards. This is how things are made fair, rather than decided by knee-jerk reactions, strong opinions and mobbing.
2 -
If I ask someone a question, I have a responsibility then to listen to the answer and any further information. To do otherwise is to treat the other person disgracefully. It gives me a poor reputation and discourages anyone from answering in future. It's a bad idea.
No, I don't 'have to', but only as long as words don't mean anything and no one has any responsibility to anyone and everything is basically nihilistic meaninglessness.
1 -
I think you don't know well what a feedback is. Just to be clear, a backlash is a form of negative feedback.
2 -
How is this relevant to what I just wrote?
0 -
I know it’s funny to say, but the devs being bad at the game is not a blow up, at all. A dev’s responsibility is to make sure the game works as it is supposed to and to create and support content. They don’t have time to solely play the game and become gods at it.
I have a friend who works at Netherrealm studios and it is the same thing there. Balancing is second to supporting the game’s functionality.

It took BHVR 18 months to address flashlights blinding people IRL. It was solved with a simple texture-swap.
1 -
Expecting developers to be absolute masters at their own game is not realistic. Being good at a game is a different skillset than creating a game, or thinking of a good game concept.
I used to watch the Friday the 13th developers play that game on their Twitch channel, and they were among the very potato-grade worst players I've ever seen.
2 -
You said devs don't listen to feedback but only to backlash, I said backlash is a form of feedback, and then you said I think MoM's feedback wasn't negative... I mean, where did you even take that from?
2 -
I think it's all feedback but not all feedback is useful. There needs to be a method to filter what is 'information' and what is 'noise'. The problem is the devs don't state what, if any, method they use to filter. The result is players don't know what the ideal framing for feedback is and the devs seem to respond to it almost at random, regardless of it's merit, effort or information-content.
1 -
Feedback is defined as someone providing information about a product, their reactions to it, and ideas on how to improve upon that basis.
Backlash defines as a strong, generally negative reaction by a large number of people.
Didn't you notice your definition of backlash is included in your definition of feedback, aside the part about giving ideas (but that's reserved to constructive feedback)? Unless you consider feedback given by a large amount of people something different.

Most devs are not that smart. But with Nurse especially omega blink nurse im sureeven they get some juicy kills. :x
But I like the skill level of the most devs. Theyre playing it like it was orignally intended. It's cool seeing their fun they have when they stream it. We all know that the game isnt balanced and will never be because it's impossible. The only thing the devs can do is making things more fun to play against. And everything has its own priority.
And the devs know things. They >know< how the things are working. And knowing is still sth different than playing. Sometimes you know you can do better but you didnt. And a Mc Ote :P Wont be good against a 4 man TS tryharding swf on rank 1 with surringes. And thats okay. He dont need it to be good in his own game. He has to be good at knowing how his game is working and how the people are playing it and how he can improve it. And you know, he and all the other devs are pretty good in their jobs.

That’s just it, nothing is simple. Every change has to go through a ton of testing and approvals.
0 -
It's a texture-swap. Anyone can mod it into the game in minutes, it's just doing so might trigger a VAC ban.
The devs have made far more drastic changes in the span of a week.
1 -
So was Loki. Doesnt mean #########. They already confirmed hell be back as a "changed villain".
0 -
I would just love Mistress Death bringing him back to life as a changed person, in a completely different style, but so that he would be like still like Thanos.
0 -
Personally I'd love the chance to destroy the devs with my wraith and facecamp mcote
0 -
They’re also working on hundreds of other things that have more priority... like the game functioning lol.
0 -
Yet despite an 88 percent upvote on their own polls saying people liked ghost face they nerfed him anyway despite downright begging from the community...so it kinda makes peoples views darker
0 -
They didnt nerf him. They adjusted how certain mechanics work.
Jesus christ this forum Is full of knee jerk biased people nowdays.
3 -
I think people being blinded is a definite functionality issue, maybe even a significantly higher-priority because it's eyes literally being damaged. Games have Epilepsy warnings for far less intrusive and dangerous stimuli.
1 -
Bro..they made his reveal radious wider and nerfed two of his addons directly, now hes getting broken out through walls..that was no adjustment it was a nerf by definition
1 -
4% on either side (like an INCH total on an average tv) so that he COULD be revealed. Because it wasnt happening standing in front of him.
Seeing through walls is a bug.
Neither are nerfs. One was an adjustment, and one was a BUG.
And nerfed 2 addons from the point they were in ptb to live? That's also not a nerf, because it wasnt live.
People voted about how he worked, not the specifics of every detail. It was a balancing adjustment to go live. Not a nerf.
A nerf would be if he could be revealed in half the time, or if only had to be on screen and not centered. Or if he couldnt stalk while leaning. Those are nerfs. Which didnt happen. Hes still very viable compared to before the "nerf".
Stop throwing nerf around like it makes what you say true.
Also, I'm not a bro. So you've missed the point with basically all of what you just posted.
0 -
This would be useless though? Like if you have 4 pro/ swf players go against someone who plays casually/develops the game rather then is someone dedicated to playing the game in high tier play there obviously going to lose.
Sure a Dev may have experience but there is very good reason why in games such as ow they take the opinions of master players into account for balance. Same should honestly be done here.
I get this is a salty post against swf. But this would show nothing imo
1 -
Lol but tell me..4 percent wider off what statistic..? It sure wasnt 8 percent of the reveal radious...besides , a nerf is a nerf..plus..the changes came after the release, therefore even by your definition it's a nerf..it lowered his performance..nerf
1 -
4% each side (8%) on what was the visual cone needed to reveal him. The survivors POV.
And saying "a nerf is a nerf " doesnt change that they were not nerfs.
We could say that fixing the SB bug was a nerf to survivors. Because TECHNICALLY it's harder for then to use it now.
We could say that 360 unhooks was a nerf to killers, because they cant face camp and negate core game mechanics, because TECHNICALLY it's easier for survivors to get a save.
Throwing around the term nerf doesnt make it true.
0 -
It's a nerf if it's not an exploit or bug but lowers overall performance which it very much has...plus..the devs have given no word on gf getting revealed through walls so I'm not claiming going to assume they didnt intend it..remember ds and mettle of man used to be different than now..so I'm waiting for their word on it..I'm not trying to be rude but saying it's not a nerf is just..silly
1 -
They already did way back in like 2017 I think, anyways it was a Korean con place and Mcote got ######### on as hag. Why would you expect anything less than this?
Also this was when pallet vacuums and flashlights were still annoying and eye blinding
0 -
Changing numbers isnt always a nerf or buff. Period. You refuse to accept or understand that one simple line, so theres no point in discussing this further.
I could give you 1000 examples of how something is not a nerf, and because one number is lowered, youd say its TECHNICALLY a nerf.
Example. Hook phase times used to be 30 seconds. It was deemed far too short for actual gameplay without camping. They made it 60 seconds to BALANCE the game correctly. That's not a buff. The time doubled, but it's not a buff, it was a balancing change.
