I think I may have solved the ebony mori debate
An idea came to me while I was pondering it..what if ebony moris..dont activate until EACH survivor has been hooked once..that way..tunneling mori starts are eliminated with ebonies, each survivor has been caught before they can be eliminated , and the mori still holds power BOOM! Everyone wins! ^^

Ok, so why would killers agree to this?
6 -
i wouldnt mind that.
id like the devs to add the old hatch grab back for survivors who used a key though.
so both OP things get a slight nerf. and dont mean just a free kill / escape.
3 -
Well considering I myself am a killer player..even make YouTube vids on it, I don't tunnel most of the time , and a common issue I run into is two hooking everyone , common issue with good players , itd give survivors no excuse to whine , make it the counterpart to keys almost perfectly, plus it wouldnt make the mori any less useful, just needs a tad more setup and not even a hard setup at that
0 -
So what about when one person dcs or literally hides all game and you're down a mori because someone ELSE didnt want to play the game.
5 -
Very true..they should be crediting killers more for dcs..plus didnt they say they were going to make survivors leave a husk for killers to hook..?..so that would fix that
0 -
That would indeed be an improvement
1 -
Just let mori be doable when suvivor is on his last hook. Done.
0 -
That's one sided..makes the mori useless..its frankly a dumb idea hense why I cane up with this one..way more fair
6 -
You think that if survivors have no excuse to whine, that this will stop them?
They already don't and yet they do.
We need to have a conversation about features which artificially shorten and extend the game. Singling-out individual features though just leads to double-standards being applied to different ones.
3 -
While I agree I try to be fair to both sides and I fully understand the feelings some people have on moris even if I dont share them..but the devs need to be given suggestions or else they'll take a blind swing at trying to appease the mob and it could be for the worse..so far this is the most fair solution I could think on
0 -
The devs take bad-swings at things all the time, partially because they are fed suggestions that can be used to justify them all the time.
I happen to think the last 3 years has had too many suggestions and not enough debate and consensus-building for them and that's why the quality of feedback and some of the devs decisions have been so poor.
2 -
I agree that only one side gets heard in some cases believe me I do..but..finding a good middle ground on something like this is a decent start
0 -
I suggested this a while ago:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/67042/mori-rework
I'm not gonna hold my breath, though.
0 -
Which is why my first reply was 'why would killers agree to this?'
It had the appearance to me of a solution looking for a problem. It gives survivors yet another bit of breathing-room, on top of their ever-growing list of 2nd-chances, without solving any killer problems with said 2nd-chances or any related issue.
2 -
Yes I agree it doesnt solve any killer issues..but..it gives one less thing for survivors to throw at us when we talk about the state of weaker killers..and it's far better than what they are demanding
0 -
I dont agree with the lesser moris being nerfed as they're in a decent spot
0 -
If we accept these standards, then we accept conceding things which are unjustified because the other side are asking for something even worse. Obviously the way to get what you want if you notice someone doing this is to make unreasonable demands; then less ridiculous but still-unreasonable suggestions get taken seriously.
This is why people do not so easily concede anything, even in a non-zero sum game.
3 -
Eh..maybe..but it foesnt seem to be helping us so far..look at gf
0 -
I would be fine with Ivory mori being bumped to two kills instead of one if they introduced the hook everyone requirement.
I honestly think this would be a cool change. Imagine the other three survivors have all been hooked and you're the last infinity stone that the killer needs to start their murder spree. Maybe it would bring a little fear back to the game.
0 -
There have been 3 years of compromises beforehand. Demanding higher standards is only a recent thing, mainly because every time the devs claim to have learned some lessons, too many people believe it(see Freddy the first time round).
When people offer solutions, I want to know what problems are being fixed.
When people make complaints, I want the causes to be defined in specifics.
When people give suggestions, I want the clarity of standards and not the distraction of them talking about their desired consequences.
I don't want to have to take anybody's word for anything either: I want these things to be demonstrably true and verifiable by anyone.
We have not had this.
1 -
Hmm..that actually wouldnt be a bad idea
0 -
Hmm...I see what you mean
0 -
I mean, you can still kinda tunnel the last one who got hooked for the first time.
0 -
Yeah a little but that's after you find all 4 so it still takes a little time
0 -
Lol why are you even here? Dont you have something better to do? I'm not going to waste more than one message on you if all your going to do is whine
0 -
or, just leave eboni moris alone? they have already been nerfed. they are completely fine the way they are.
1 -
I wouldnt complain personally but I was attempting to find some middle ground..sadly..some people dont want a convorsation..just their way or the highway
0 -
thing is, surely the middle ground has already been reached? The mori was nerfed from what it once was and nerfing it again would make it redundant. Granted there are worse suggestions to the mori out there, but say if one survivors hides all game and does nothing while everyone else gets on with gens.
Mori is useless and a waste of points. Moris already got nerfed, and they are fine as they are. Or do you disagree?
2 -
Like I said, it matters not to me the mori is how it is..I'm just tired of people saying " oh we MUST make it useless..oh but keys arnt like moris at all..they're fine " you know?
0 -
So what happens when you get that immersed survivor and even then mori's aren't really common
0 -
I'm just trying to give a better suggestion then " it should only work on death hook " nonsense
0 -
Bad way to look at it IMO. The question should not be "Was it already adjusted?" It should be "Is it balanced?"
0 -
To be fair I'd only accept changes to moris if keys got hit too but I just wanted to try a more bipartisan approach
0 -
I'm good.
You can collect what little BP you got and move on. See the silver lining; you can move on to the next match quickly.

For killer side I only bring an ebony whenever I see a tryhard swf team in my lobby or just survivors bringing in anything to progress the game really fast or to escape early (2 or more toolboxes or Keys.)
For survivor side I can understand that ebony's really are broken and unfun to play against because you have some killers that will just tunnel the survivor that just got off hook no matter what.
To be honest, Ebony is actually bad for both sides, because no one pips and the games end quick.
Should ebony be changed? I don't know, half of me is saying yes but the other half is saying no. In some way it's needed but also unfun for one side.
Imo, I feel like killers should have a built in mori that allows them to kill survivors if they're dead on their next hook. A little bit of an option between putting them on hook or bleeding out.

This suggestion I posted I feel is the best middle ground to be found..but..if moris get tweaked then keys need to also
1 -
I am in a similar-ish camp, to be fair.
0 -
This isn’t a necessarily a new idea, but it is a good one!
1 -
I thought so
0 -
True

Green and pink mori's are super, super powerful. Ebony is basically GG before the lobby starts everytime I run it, and I use dying light with the green mori and tunnel the obsession down for an easy dying light proc.
If they want to nerf mori's they need to hit purple and pink keys as well, which are basically the survivor equivalent and equally broken.
0 -
to which the answer is, in the current state of the game, yes. they are balanced.
0 -
Exactly. If they WERE to nerf moris (which i dont think they should) then survivors keys and insta heals should also be nerfed. Otherwise your simply balancing to a specific side.
0 -
@Dr_Trauts. You can't compare hook someone and then mori him with make 5 gens so hatch spawn, find it and you can escape. If I use a mori 100% of times I can mori the survivors. If a have a key only about 5% or less I can use the key.
0 -
I don't tend to use mori's, i used them to get the ps4 trophies and i'll throw one on each new killer to see the animation but that's about it.
0 -
I personally disagree.
0 -
Personally I like this idea, but applied only on the Ebony mori. The other ones are ok as they are imo.
0 -
That's a problem with secret offerings because most survivors know secret offering = Mori so they play around it.
Secret offerings shouldn't even appear on the offering screen tbh. :)
1 -
Seems like you have sparked another debate, you did not solve anything ;-)
I think your idea has been proposed before. I did not like it then and I don't like it now.
I like the ebony mori as it is. Just play stealtier when you see a secret offering and you may be spared.

Implying the key is only useful to fill teams which is far from true
