Let's talk about Chapter 13
First things first, I would like to start off and say, hello, this is my very first post on this forum, or really, any gaming forum in general. Now, lets discuss chapter 13 a bit, even though I've heard and seen lots of thoughts about chapter 13 aleady. From Peanits himself saying he's excited and expects a big boost in players for the release. To me, this leans towards it being licensed but what about everyone else? Do you believe it to be licensed or original, and if licensed then what exactly? I gotta say, I personally hope and believe it to be Stranger Things related.

It’ll probably be ST related but I’m hoping for an original killer, it’s been awhile since there’s been a really unique chapter.

There are 3 more male survivors then female so I'd guess the next survivor will be female. This mixed with the potential release based on a licensed killer because of the reference of sales boosts probably implies 11 and a demogorgon. That or The Director and Kirstie.

Definitely.
No one would say *"This'll bring a big boost into the community"* unless it was licensed.
Like why would any new player buy/jump into DBD because the next killer is a midget controlling a huge brute by riding his back... Unless people recognize the next killer original killers will not reel in new players.

First, holly hell I didn't expect this much traffic aleady but other then that I completely agree with you. It'll probably be Barb, Nancy or any female character and the Demogorgon for killer because it's easily the most famous antagonist from the series.

If Peanits said it will boost the player base it's gotta be licensed, I can't see someone with that kind of confidence say that about a new original idea.

I haven't watched "Slasher", mainly because I've heard very mixed opinions on it but that's beside the point. Let's be real here, if I was in a boardroom meeting with Netflix, I'd want to go where people instantly say "Hey, I know that brand, let me get in on that!" and plus, Stranger things has been requested since season 2 aired and why not fulfill those requests when you've got your shot?

I read some guys who take it for granted that the next chapter is on Stranger Things.
I wouldn't be so sure.
For me they won't release it now for two reasons:
1) People expect it, so it's too obvious to release it now, better at a time when nobody expects it
2) It does not bind well to the dbd lore, and in one of the recent streams, I don't remember who, had said that some company had contacted them proposing their killer but that they are talking to see how to tie it to the dbd lore because their killer in fact does not fit well with the game, and in my opinion it was a clear reference to Netflix and Stranger Things
I wouldn't be surprised if the next chapter will be original, it would be cool to have a killer looking like a ghost 👻

It makes sense for both Netflix and Behaviour to release it now. Netflix just released the 3rd season of the show.
This chapter will coincide with the in game party system, dedicated servers, and the archives. Behaviour wants people to know this is a BIG update. Licensed content attracts attention. One as popular and cultural revelant as Stranger Things is even better.
As for your second point I’ll need a reference. The devs have said they have declined offers from other companies but they’ve never hinted at the companies or franchises.
Considering the Netflix tweet and MCote reply they weren’t talking about the Demogorgon.

the first "leak" of ghostface was of 2018 (tweet of the creator of the mask where he said he was working to bring GF on dbd), it took a year to have it on dead by daylight :)

I know, and I know it would be better to release a licensed chapter because of the launch with dedicated servers, also because we don't have a licensed chapter from the beginning of 2018 (the saw chapter), but I've been following dead by daylight long enough to say that all that is considered obvious, actually it is not, all the times when a certain thing was obvious in that particular way, then the exact opposite of what was expected came out (for example, you were expecting that ghostface he went out alone without a survivor and a map? I was the only one who said it, no one believed me) that's why I'm convinced that this time too, they will "amaze" everyone and make an original chapter, and not under license
(I hope of course I'm wrong, I love stranger things)

I think the big boost in players is gonna come from the possible licensed killer as well. However, if you really think about it stars would be aligning here.
Dedicated Servers, Better Optimization, New Content and Map, Possible Popular Licensed Killer, General Balance Fixes all in one.

Yeah that's actually what i've been saying as well, Fall seems like a huge time for DBD so why not bring a huge property along with it, just makes complete sense looking at it financially wise.

I will personally end up dropping the game if I feel the Battle Pass is needed to unlock certain things. I bought enough DLC and Cosmetics that it would just be pissing in my cheerios if I am not only blocked by a Paywall I am then locked behind the Battle Pass after paying the Paywall.

I think 1 thing is 100% for certain though, they're are going to be people who walk away from this chapter completely disappointed for seting up such high hopes and expectations. Like I said in the op though, I'm leaning more towards a licensed chapter because of Peanits "big player boost" statement because lets be real here, og chapters bring players back yes but licensed chapters are what really bring fresh blood into the game.

If ever there were a time to bring Jason to the game, chapter 13 would be it. I mean it will never happen, but if it doesn't happen now I almost don't even want it to happen anymore.

Man, I could go on for ages about how dumb Victor and Sean are being with there petty little court case but I'll just leave it with at this. Maybe I'm too much of a glass half full type of guy but I personally think even though we won't get big J for the next chapter we will get him eventually, Jason is just a waiting game honestly.

Epic Games has already make a crossover event in fortnite, it was with stranger things, so if we have a killer, it's the demogorgon, here are some sounds leaked from the accidental dev game build that came out showing Ghostface (first, GF sounds, then leaked ones):
Also, there is a "leaked audio" (not official) which has the main theme but with a nostalgic tone. I trust this can be the archives' theme.

Well IIRC the devs pretty much said it will never happen. Mostly because of the F13 game that's sort of a competitor to DBD (and I use that term generously here). Honestly if the F13 rights holders were smart they'd approach BHVR to make it happen, because as far as I see it the game is dead in the water.

I realize that all killers have a face and I would find it really cool if there was a Demogorgon killer, it would be called 'The Faceless' as it's a direct quotation from multiple characters saying "it was this thing, it had a face but it didn't" I don't remember the exact quotes. I just know that it'll respect the Stranger Things lore.

Didn't the devs also say they were trying really hard to actually get Jason in, that's the recent thing I've been seeing be passed around but truthfully, if we get Jason it'll be the remake one.

I'm surprised that there's actually not a single NB reference in the game seeing as how BHVR owns the rights so it would probably be easy to do.

Well I hope we don't get the doll killer off the bat plus there's tons of better killers to choose from but Hellraiser Carrie White and Maniac Cop would be good choices for chapters I'm not sure why he made the video he knows the doll is way to small like me being the biggest fanatic of him I even eventually realized this would not work and told a dev what I think ... but I think it's going to be an orginal I remembered someone said the oldest killer they have is in chapter 13? You notice I didn't even say its name I know how you guys feel about the doll

I think "the monster" is too indescriptive or whatever the word is.
The thing about the demogorgan is the face so it might be a key point of the killer. He could have a open face when he's in an enraged state.
Also the way he comes out of walls in ST makes me think, surely he would be able to teleport.
Maybe the dream world could be a feature of playing against the demogorgan. Maybe you get pulled into the upside down if you are in a close proximity. Maybe instead of the dressers there's just viney portals on certain walls you have to tear through to get out of the upside down.

The only real time I can recall them mentioning Jason by name was at a live QNA at pax. Someone said "Hey can you get Jason ?" or something to that extent to which they replied "Maybe, he would fit right in."

The demogorgan is from mythology or something, so I'm thinking a while back when the Devs said they have 3+ killers in progress... maybe they had the demogorgan killer in progress and were looking for Stranger Things to do a crossover.
This would explain the 2 month window of the Netflix tweet being such a small window. The killer was pretty much designed.

In that case wouldn't the three killers have been Legion, Plague and Ghostface? I was watching a livestream of a fw who went to the BHVR offices on that one big get together and he said that he had no idea about chapter 13 but did know everything up to Ghostface and the archives and rift.
