Survivor advice

When I started playing this game, I told myself I would exclusively play 1 role for 1000 hours to master it, and then trade to the other role for the next 1000 hours. After some simple trial runs in the beginning, I decided to take the more difficult role of Killer, but now I'm at 990 hours in the game, and I will soon be changing over to Survivor. During my Killer campaign, I've mostly been spending shards on the most desirable Survivor teach-able's that pop up in the shrine in anticipation of this day. I have roughly 60% of them, but they include all the meta perks (DS, BT, OoO, DH, Lithe, SB, WGLF, etc), and a few others I figured would be handy to have if a bit niche. All of my killers have all the perks and are max rank and prestige (save for Billy, because funny enough, I never really gelled with him for some reason).

Now I know I'm not really gonna do much in the way of maxing all the survivors since, unlike Killers, I regard them as interchangeable skins With nothing else unique about them. I need a Top 3 survivors to play as for the next 1000 hours, but the first one is the priority right now. I've opposed survivors for a long time, and know all the little tricks, builds, and mind-games, but there's a huge difference between knowing what to do, and actually doing it, so while I may have an experience advantage as opposed to a new player, there will definitely be bumps ahead for me; a challenge I'm looking forward to. Obviously I'll still take a couple of weeks playing Killer again when the next chapter releases if its a decent and fun killer to play, but overall I'll be playing survivor for the next 1k hours. The other 2 I pick will be based on whether or not I like them (Feng Min is one because as killer I just loved those cute noises she makes, her outfits, and I've got a thing for Asian girls I guess :P), but right now I'm asking the survivor mains in the community to please advise me: Which survivor, tactically, is the best in your honest opinion, to start with?

Please take their starting perk kits, Cosmetics, and base advantages/disadvantages into consideration before advising. I eagerly await you're replies.

I guess most people will say P3 Claudette, but go for Feng if you really want to. She is the tiniest survivor and my main.

I've got a thing for Asian girls I guess :P)

    Lol who doesn't? :)

1 vote for Feng, and 1 for Claudette so far. Can't go P3 right from the beginning obviously, but will work towards it and max perks for whoever is suggested. I may not have all perks yet, so at a point I will get all survivors who have teach-able's to the proper levels to get them. Thank you very much for your input, and yeah... Who doesn't indeed (Female perspective)?

If you view them as just skins, then you might as well go for the one who has the stealthiest skin, which is Claudette.

Though there's a few guys who are VERY silent, like Ace. Running Iron Will on him is almost obsolete.

I'm a tOxIc Nea main myself, but I like when I see a character that has certain teachable perks that no one uses so it's hard to guess what perks they actually have. Like if you see Meg, she most likely has Sprint or Adrenaline or you see David he most likely has Dead Hard.

If I had to pick a different one I would pick Claudette. She has so many cosmetics, and she's easy to hide! (They don't call her Blendette for nothing!) The perks I like to run help me in chase with the killer. Balanced Landing, Dance With Me, Quick and Quiet, and then the 4th perk I change around. If I bring my own item (I'm an item hoarder) I use Streetwise. Self Care is a must have for most survivors, but I don't really think you need it.

Just a side note: I've been using Object of Obsession and trying to figure out how to make it work for me, and it's actually a really great perk if you know how to use it. :)

The best thing to do as a survivor is to play without fear, as the killer is just another player. Don't worry about dying, just focus on being productive, such as getting the objective, distracting the killer etc. Being productive, reduces the amount of time that the killer has to get a result from the game.

When it comes to running the killer, always plan what you plan to do next, I have a chase route in mind, such as "which pallet will I run to?" "where is the next jungle gym". Also during your chase you should be monitoring the killers behaviour, is the killer likely to try and mind game, do they swing through pallets or do they respect them, just access their movement to see if they are any good or not.

Also try and keep an eye on where the killer is when you're being chased, you don't have to always have the camera pointing at the the killer. But keeping an on the killer can improve pallet efficiency, and how long you can last during a chase.

Finally, try to work on pallet efficiency, camping pallets and just waiting for the killer to approach it is infuriating to see. It's the best way to waste pallets and cause a disadvantage for your team. Despite this I see a lot of survivors doing this even at rank 1, and people that have been playing for two years or more.

Total is 2 for Claudette, 1 Feng, 1 Ace with compelling cases for Ace and Claudette. Does ace really have Iron will built in?

3 for Claudette, 1 for Feng, 1 for Ace so far. At this point I have to ask... They recently updated the outfits for everyone (killers included) to be brighter and easier to spot, has this affected "Blendette" in any noticeably detrimental ways?

I know there are a lot of dark cosmetics for Claudette. I'm sure that there are some very revealing and easy to spot, but I don't think I've seen them in game. Mostly just Feng and Nea with their neon outfits and hair lol.

Very helpful advice, and I will use it. However, this is stuff I mostly already know from facing red rank survivors as killer and will do my best to incorporate in my play style as survivor. I'm not berating you on it, quite the contrary, I look forward to adopting it and using your insight and words as a good reference, but you didn't provide me a preference for a survivor to start with when I main them in the next 1000 hours of play. Please give me your honest opinion and vote for one of them. I know its weird to be asking this of everyone, but if you had to choose a survivor to start with, knowing ahead of time what they all offer, which would you have chosen?

So... are you voting Claudette over Feng and Nea? Honestly, as killer, I Came to Fear and Avoid the survivors with bright outfits because that usually meant they had enough survivor skill to be loud and in my face about it without going down easy. To me, Bright Cosmetics meant a hard kill, or someone who is used to being a "runner" and that could also work in my favor against seasoned killers, but not against new ones. I need a suggested survivor who has an equally effective perk build and cosmetics that are proven against both new and seasoned killers. One I can rely on for a good long while as I learn the role... on the other hand... maybe I should play a survivor with the brightest and most obvious outfit as well as weakest perks to provide the best challenge for me so I get better with the core game play mechanics before I play one who can exploit them. Your insight is appreciated!

No worries, although I still see a lot of red rank survivors do stupid stuff.

I main a lot of survivors, Claudette, Nea, Jake, Kate, and Laurie.

But have you considered being different, have you considered being a Jeff main?

EDIT: Also it's better to play Solo Queue if you want to get better, as from personal experience I only got good when I started to playing Solo Queue rather than just SWF.

There are three perks that I consider to be very helpful for survivors: Dead Hard, Borrowed Time, and Decisive Strike.

I would get Dead Hard first because it's one of the most versatile exhaustion perks. Go ahead and start learning how to use it.

For the other two, which order you get them in doesn't matter.

As for the best overall survivor, my answer is Jeff. I mean come on, how can you not think Jeff is the coolest? He's basically Jesus after all.

Jokes aside, play who you like. Claudette is obviously the stealthiest if that matters to you. Ace and Tapp are the quietest if you prefer playing male characters.

If you want to be basic go for Claudette,if you want to be cool go for Jane or Jeff,I rarely see these 2

You know me, if you wanna survive pick

meg -for Sprint burst/adrenaline/ quick and quiet. Good 3 starting perks

Dwight -skip but has prove thyself which is great now

Claudette- for botany and self care

    Jake- iron will

    Nea - balanced

    Laurie- just ds

Ace - *DON'T EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME ON HIM, ######### perks*

    Bill- unbreakable , BT

    David- only dead hard

    Feng- lithe

Quentin- meh just pharmacy and wake up

    Kate - SKIP!

Tapp- skip unless you want his perks for totem tracking and great skill checks

    Jeff- skip literally poop perk

    Jane- solidarity

Ash- just cause its Bruce Campbell

If I was starting id play Jane cause she is a goddess

But to me it just comes down to which killers trigger me the most and its just spirit and nurse so Im always swapping between like IW, botany, prove thyself, and adren

    Negative.

Distortion was a perk made for whiny survivors who didn't know how to hide from BBQ or bait it. No point running it in high ranks

Aftercare is just bond tweaked but working on gens solo is still good. Id rather take prove thyself and make other dumb solos follow me because they have a tendcy to run away even though they see you have a cooperative perk.

    Breakdown stinks . nuff said

If you have 1000 hours on killer survivor will be easy, a lot of the game sense you acquired as a killer will help you easily avoid killers.

As for which survivor to pick, go with the skins you like best. I main Feng because she looks like my girlfriend and she is also one of the best survivors to stealth around with -- use the Green Sci Fi Shirt and Pants.

Claudette is meh, and after the clothing and lighting nerfs she's not really Blendette anymore.

Perks wise if you want to go meta then start with either David, Laurie, Bill or Meg. Out of these four Meg is the prettiest. David is awesome for having no shirt skin.

If you want to stealth start with Nea actually. Urban Evasion is too important. Then Jeff for Iron Will. Then settle into Feng Min.

If you want to run and loop start with Laurie then David, then Meg.

I have 2 awards I'm going to give for Survivors. These 2 I feel are tactically the best survivors to go for.

And the "Camouflage" award goes to...

Claudette. With her dark skin, short height, dark clothes and decent enough quiet breathing. she takes the cake.

For the, "Shut your dang mouth!" award. The award goes to...

ACE! (it's really a tie between Tapp and Ace. they have similar in quietness breathing, but I went with Ace just cause he's my main). His breathing is really quiet. So are his injured noises. he's basically a built-in-iron will. If you use Iron Will on him, I don't think even Stridor has a chance. but I don't know, and Stridor is so underused it doesn't matter anyway.

EDIT: oh, you also mentioned base perk kits. Yeah I say use David. No Mither sucks but his other 2 are really good.

    Are you blind?

I literally stated why they're bad and why people don't need them.

Jeff's perks will not save you from nurse or spirit

@ItsYourBoyGuzma A perk doesnt need to save you from a killer to be good.
