This.
Having to mash a button isn't tense or scary or an interesting representation of struggling to survive: it's annoying and takes an unnecessary toll on fingers and buttons.
That's also to say nothing of how lag spikes can instakill you because the host just doesn't register you mashing spacebar/c/x/whatever.

Would just become a Lets go AFK mechanic then.

This, I actually had a game as LF last night where one player seemingly killed herself so I relaxed and the let the other 3 just do gens since I was only doing daily. Afterwards they thanked me and then realized she had accidentally pressed the wrong key and died... not fun for anyone

Who cares? If someone goes AFK then they risk getting downed when they're unhooked. That's their problem.

It is supposed to symbolize the pointlessness of life. That is what the Entity wants. 🧐

I wholeheartedly agree. Also something else for wiggle, it was neat at first since it feels like you're actually wiggling (using a control stick) but by now it's just wearing out a $60 piece of equipment I cannot afford to replace.

Going back to Wiggle, it's pointless. There is virtually no scenario in which you could free yourself, outside of Flip-Flop. There simply is not time to wiggle out. To test this, I got into the furthest corner of the exit gate, while a teammate was hooked nearby (on the closest hook). This means I had to be carried farther than the nearest hook, and still was unable to wriggle free, without Iron Grasp or Agitation. Please at least make it so I'm not ruining the controller trying to do this.

They said they won’t do this because they want to keep struggling “interactive”. The perfect solution is to just make it a hold to struggle. They could even make it an option you can change in settings. Unfortunately no matter how many threads I’ve seen on this the devs just cover their ears and go lalala can’t hear you.

@Coriander The point of wiggling, in general, is to pressure the killer into taking you to the nearest hook instead of the basement every time.
Also note that "the faster you move your thumbsticks, the faster you wiggle free" is not the case. As long as you alternate moving left/right once every half second or so you'll max out the wiggle. No need to Mario Party your thumbsticks, nor slam them all the way to the side (move the thumbstick halfway toward the physical limit).
That said, I am definitely for the OP's suggested mechanic change.

I dont know. Sometimes I dont WANT to wiggle. Be it I've given up as the last, first, or the killer shakes their head and is offering to carry me about. Auto wiggling would get annoying.

Sabotage hooks near you. Then wiggling helps. Drop 2 or 3 in the area or 99 them and tap when they get close. Theyll either leave you alone, or on the ground, or be unable to carry you far enough.

I like it, however that would be a very frustrating transition of trying to break the habit.

yes
even change key is better possible because only one button works when hooked
