not happy with the PTB

I think it's bad that only pc players get the PTB right, then they know how to play the new killer and new survivor with their new perk and maybe they're playing ps4 the official release they will already be playing the killer against people who could not test it before, they should not do ptb but just shown with them (the dev) played, stop the ptb is just on pc.

No for the PTB for just PC, yes for the PTB for all plateformes, or juste the PTB for the dev.

Ptb's are important. Usually. Depends on how much the devs are inclined to listen.

In the best case, they ensure that less bugs come in the game and less exploits and that everything is more balanced and so on (after what I have read here in the Forums is Ghostface a good example for that, because they have make him stronger and then nerf him a bit, far as I have read it).

In the worst case, the testers play only on the ptb for the new content and write nothing about it, so that the devs still have no new informations and/or, the devs ignore what got written (something they have definitely do by the Legion patch, since the steam and dbd forums had also many postings that the nerf was to strong, besides the usually nerf cryers).

Still, ptbs are usually good and necessary for every game.

PTB is quite important to see the big Issues on new Contents. It does not really help with finetuning, because it lacks real environment, but you can easily see if a Killer is way too weak or way too strong.

But finetuning is not possible. Good way to improve that would be that the new Killer starts with all Perks already available. So that people can actually make Builds and can spend their BPs on Add-Ons to really test the Killer.

And well, people having an advantage - I dont know why you should play on PS4 in the first place, when you can play PC, but DBD is not a complex game, so this advantage will be gone in like a week.

In addition, this removed console on the output of the new chapter waiting time because everyone would like to test the game, while a PTB on any platform people would have already played the news so at the official release there would be not too much waiting time to search for a party

Could you imagine if there was no PTB for Ghostface's chapter?

  • Rydog

Sounds like OP doesn't understand the purpose of the PTB. It's not a GETTING GUD PROVING GROUND, it's for Behaviour to collect feedback before launch.

Do they actually play test consoles internally before patch's?

Because the mt.Ormond bug was an absolute joke. It still annoys me lol

I don't mind missing out on PTB its probably more trouble than its worth to bring it to console but please never launch an update that have a game breaking potential console bricking bugs

Its littrely not possible to do a ptb on consle just due to how consles work compared to pc. Its much harder to both get updates out, and you dont have an easy way to change versions.

    @typervader

Its literally possible to do a PTB on console

  • typervader
typervader Member, Alpha Surveyor Posts: 513

Then tell me, why has every game that has PTB and is both on consle and pc never do it then? Because its not as easy as you think. They first have to get both Sony and Mircosofts approval, which can take a few days to a week ahead of time, meaning they wont be able to update it as easily and quickly for more testing. Two, how do you select a server to play on when it doesnt have that feture.

Have you heard of Pubg? They have a test environment for console.

I've heard sea of thieves does also.

DICE had one for battlefield also.

    I'm sure there's more

I never said it was easy but it is possible, just unlikely.

  • typervader
typervader Member, Alpha Surveyor Posts: 513

Pubg is also been out longer, Dice is Dicem Sea of Thives is an excluse so its easier.

  • Rydog
    Rydog Member Posts: 3,275

You said it is "literally not possible." Sure it's possible. There's a Call of Duty alpha on PS4 this weekend. There was a Ghost Recon closed beta on consoles recently. This is absolutely within the power of publishers who want to pursue it.

What it ISN'T, is cost-effective to do it on a regular basis. Patches need to be certified, and they aren't free to deploy. They come at a cost to the publisher/developer. So it's probably not feasible to do it on console, regardless of whether they could or could not do it if they so chose.

Ok, I will agree to that. The Cod Expmaple, its by Treyarch and Acitvison, one of the highest income compaines. They can afford do it. BHVR can't

I'm pretty sure PUBG released after DBD on steam and console. Anyway friend not trying to have a pissing contest with you. I'm happy you get to play the PTB

I'm just saying its not easy for every game company to do it

  • Rydog
    Rydog Member Posts: 3,275

Behaviour Interactive is Canada's largest independent game developer. They employ more than 550 people. They just bought Starbreeze Studious for 16 million dollars. Do not confuse "Does not have the resources" with "Would not be a good value for the cost." Behaviour is not a small company.

    No!

That's awful, PTB is PC exclusive because it can only be on PC and not xbox or ps4!

Just because its not on your console does not mean it needs to be removed

  • Jed_Olsen
    Jed_Olsen Member Posts: 256

    @Rydog

BHVR don't own Starbreeze. They bought full rights for DBD off them. It was co-financed by Starbreeze, Starbreeze received 50% of game sales, dlc etc I believe. BHVR did not pay 16 mil upfront either its being paid in phases and I think Starbreeze still have a stake in DBD until the full amount is paid.

  • Rydog
    Rydog Member Posts: 3,275

I stand corrected! This is what I get for glazing over the actual content of stories. Bad Rydog.

That said, my relevant point is that Behaviour is not a small or poor company. A lot of people here still seem to be under the impression that they are.

I agree. I'm happy BHVR found huge success with this game. Its a cash cow, BHVR are basically printing money with this game lol

In the PTB people mostly screw around and test stuff for a couple days. There's also a lot of dcing and overuse of rare/ultra rare stuff... people definetly don't get better playing the PTB.

Stop being selfish because you’re missing out. Id rather have a smoother experience with bug fixes on release than a ######### experience. If you really want to play the PTB that bad then buy a PC.

  • Ireath

The only reason the ptb isn't on console to my knowledge is because of the stupid process that Sony and maybe microsoft do before releasing something. It can take weeks to complete.

Will the mobile version have a PTB? People without a (powerful enough) PC might have a phone to use for the PTB instead

  • NMCKE

Not everyone can afford a PC, but unfortunately, if I remember correctly, @Peanits said something about Microsoft and Sony not liking test versions of the same game.

  • Dreamnomad

I play on PS4 too. While I don't like being excluded from the opportunity to test, I would rather they did a public test on one system only instead of no public test. It would be pretty rad if they rotated the gaming system for PTB though.

"If I can't have PTB no one should"

How about you leave your garbage platforme that cannot suport the existance of a PTB wich is needed to thune the new content instead of wanting to take it away from everyone because YOU can't have it

Stop being a selfish ######### and deal with it

  • oxygen
    oxygen Member Posts: 3,335

A straight up "If I can't have it NO ONE CAN!", wow.

I really wish consoles could get PTBs as well, but getting new patches pushed out on console is a whole lot more complicated than doing it on PC. A PTB isn't some simple hotfix, and there could be SEVERAL subsequent patches during the PTB. Both the usual ones that tend to tweak values, and potentially completely unplanned ones because someone found some obscure way to crash the game or something equally critical.

Wow the bias of a console players kicks in hard here. "muuuh he got a lollipop for free but I haven't got anything!! Take it away from him so noone has anything! Muh muh muuuh"

Did you not realize how selfish you sound?

It's not always possible for a dev to put a PTR, PTS, PTB..whatever you want to call it..on consoles.

And you going 'I can't have it, so please take it away from everyone else!' is just..wow. You gotta grow up, buddy, and realize some people get things you don't.

The perks of being on PC, where such PTB's are easier and more possible..is that we get them. Do you also log into modding forums and say 'I can't mod Skyrim on my Xbox, so none of you should make mods anymore!'?

I’m on console and it does kill the hype a bit to see ptb content (I mod for some streamers, so I can’t really avoid spoilers.) But I understand the importance of the ptb and wouldn’t necessarily want it to go anywhere.
