I'm conflicted

I didn't know who to play so was scrolling through my killers and their perks and noticed that i had almost everything i needed to do a slugging build with freddy (no nurses yet). Never did it before so i figured what the heck.

Im rank 12 so it probably explains the success of it. Got 3 people downed in about 2 minutes then looked at my beautiful slug auras and then felt bad. These people are just here for fun and while i was having a blast, i know they weren't. At least they didn't DC on me. So i hooked them. Let them get saved and proceeded to 4k them the 'proper' way.

After match i messeged all of them individually since i dont know how to group message people that aren't in friemd list on xbox. Said it was something i always wanted to try but felt bad about it.

Surprisingly the 2 that replied were cool.

My conflict is why did i feel bad for playing a game, using tools that were designed by the developer without exploit or cheating. Didnt use ruin, bbq, noed or any map offering.

Why is the killer the one who is responsible for the game being fun? I understand the argument that if all killers were jerks then there wouldnt be any survivors to play with.

But the opposite is true also. When survivors go 'toxic' on killers and messege after game "2 ez" amd "git gud" when they are 7 or 8 rank higher than you, it has an effect. I had a spout of that crap at one point that I didnt play killer for a week.

Maybe i need a thicker skin, but dealing with all that as a killer when you try your hardest to follow the 'survivors handbook' isn't fun for me. And if bad killers make survivors not want to play, then isn't the opposite true?

Sorry for the rant, it's just really I feel like people don't think things through or don't care about 'strangers' in a game. But this community isn't big enough, especially on console, to alienate anyone for zero reason.

I actually do, I usually talk to some of the people after the match in xbox messages, usually we have a meme-y conversation, other times the survivor is rude and I just leave it quickly to let him calm down

Slugging is a strong play. People don't usually like it but it's certainly a "legal" way to play.

The problem with "strong plays" is that when they work, they work hard. Thats the issue. If you beat people too fast it can feel undeserved.

But slugging is fair play( just remember you get way less bps if you do it from the start)

It's fair play but pretty boring if they just camp the first person they downed. People talk about deranking to bully but you dont have to if you just go for the slug and safety PIP all the time. I didn't touch survivor for a few months and I encountered several good slugging Nurse players doing just that before I even got to green ranks. I'm not sure how they find it fun to repeatedly do but they do.

If you slug everybody and proceed to hook everyone, god bless you, i had matches and the killer gets 4 slug and literally go AFK waiting everyone to die on the ground.

If you think about it, all the DBD lore is about Killer being choosen to entertain The Entety and maybe that's why killer can make the game 10x more fun or 10x more stresseful/boring, the most fun matches for me are the one when me and the killer tries to mindgame each other to see who makes a mistake first, is fun guessing what your opponent will do next.
